Frequently Asked Questions - Neo-Buster Fishman

How do I power the Neo-Buster?
The Neo-Buster can be powered by a standard 9V battery or via 48V phantom power from a mixer or audio interface. When using phantom power, ensure the XLR cable is connected to both the unit and the mixer.
What is the battery life?
With a fresh alkaline 9V battery, the Neo-Buster provides approximately 200 hours of continuous use. The LED indicator will dim when the battery is low.
How do I connect the Neo-Buster to my guitar?
Connect your guitar's pickup cable to the 1/4" input jack on the Neo-Buster. Then use an XLR cable from the XLR output to your PA system or audio interface. You can also use the 1/4" output for connecting to an amplifier.
What is the phase switch for?
The phase switch helps eliminate feedback when playing in challenging acoustic environments. Toggle it to find the position that reduces feedback while maintaining tone.
How do I use the notch filter?
The adjustable notch filter is designed to cut a specific frequency to reduce feedback. Turn the notch control clockwise to select the problematic frequency, then adjust the depth to minimize feedback without affecting overall sound.
Can I use the Neo-Buster with a passive pickup?
Yes, the Neo-Buster is designed for both active and passive pickups. For passive pickups, ensure the input impedance is set appropriately (the unit auto-senses). Adjust the blend control if you have a dual-source system.
What does the blend control do?
If you have a dual-source pickup system (e.g., magnetic and piezo), the blend control allows you to mix the signals. Turn clockwise for more magnetic, counterclockwise for more piezo.
How do I eliminate hum or ground noise?
Use the ground lift switch on the Neo-Buster. If you experience a ground loop hum when connecting to a mixer, engage the ground lift to break the loop.
What are the dimensions of the Neo-Buster?
The Neo-Buster measures approximately 5.5 x 3.5 x 1.75 inches (14 x 9 x 4.5 cm) and weighs about 1.1 lbs (0.5 kg), making it portable for gigging musicians.
Is the Neo-Buster repairable?
The unit contains no user-serviceable parts except the 9V battery. For any other repairs, contact Fishman authorized service centers. The rugged metal chassis is designed for durability, but avoid impact or moisture.

USER MANUAL Neo-Buster Fishman

The Neo-Buster is designed to fit most steel string, flat-top guitars with a 4 inch (10.16cm) diameter soundhole. We recommend you string your guitar with bronze or phosphor bronze strings to achieve the correct response from the pickup.

Description

This passive magnetic pickup produces the bright, shimmering qualities associated with single coil pickups. Note that a single coil pickup by its nature is susceptible to 50 – 60Hz hum. To minimize hum, keep the Neo-Buster away from fluorescent lights, dimmer packs, computer monitors and transformers.

Setup

Tuck the cable into the cable strain relief opening. Allow for some slack so that the cable is not bent at the underside of the pickup housing. With the guitar's strings in place, slide the Neo-Buster under the strings until it drops into the soundhole, parallel to the end of the fingerboard. You may need to release some string tension in order to allow the Neo-Buster to install more easily.

Travel/Storage

We have carefully engineered Neo-Buster with materials designed to reduce interaction with most guitar finishes. However, we recommend removing the Neo-Buster from your guitar if you store the instrument for long periods. If the rubber cable comes to rest on the guitar's finish while the instrument is stored, it may interact with the lacquer and leave a permanent mark.
