The product is NOT supplied with engine oil, although traces of oil from the manufacturing process may be present. It is essential to add adequate engine oil of the correct type to the engine before use. Failure to add engine oil will void the product warranty.

• This equipment is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities.

General Fuel Safety

• Petrol/fuel/gasoline is extremely flammable – keep clear of naked flames or other ignition sources.
• Do not spill fuel. If you spill fuel, wipe it off the equipment immediately – if fuel gets on your clothing, change clothing.
• Do NOT smoke near fuel or when refuelling.
  • Always shut off the engine before refuelling.
• Do NOT refuel a hot engine.
• Open the fuel cap carefully to allow any pressure build-up in the tank to release slowly.
  • Always refuel in well ventilated areas.
• Always check for fuel leakage. If fuel leakage is found, do not start or run the engine until all leaks are fixed.

General Carbon-Monoxide Safety

• Using a combustion engine indoors CAN KILL IN MINUTES. Engine exhaust contains carbon-monoxide – a poison you cannot smell or see.
• Use combustion engines OUTSIDE only, and far away from windows, doors and vents.

General Equipment Use and Care

• The equipment is designed for domestic use only.
• Handle the equipment safely and carefully.
• Before use, inspect the equipment for misalignment or binding of moving parts, loose components, damage or any other condition that may affect its operation. If damaged, have the equipment repaired by an authorised service centre or technician before use.
• Prevent unintentional starting of the equipment - ensure equipment and power switches are in the OFF position before connecting or moving equipment. Do not carry equipment with hands or fingers touching any controls. Remove any tools or other items that are not a part of the equipment from it before starting or switching on.
• Do not force the equipment. Use the correct equipment for your application. Equipment will perform better and be safer when used within its design and usage parameters.
• Use the equipment and accessories etc. in accordance with these instructions, considering working conditions and the work to be performed. Using the equipment for operations different from those intended could result in hazardous situations.
• Always keep equipment components (engines, hoses, handles, controls, frames, housings, guards etc) and accessories (cutting tools, nozzles, bits etc) properly maintained. Keep the equipment clean and, where applicable, properly lubricated.
• Store the equipment out of reach of children or untrained persons. To avoid burns or fire hazards, let the equipment cool completely before transporting or storing. Never place or store the equipment near flammable materials, combustible gases or liquids etc.
• The equipment is not weather-proof, and should not be stored in direct sunlight, at high ambient temperatures or locations that are damp or humid.
• Do not clean equipment with solvents, flammable liquids or harsh abrasives.

General Electrical Safety

• Inspect electrical equipment, extension cords, power bars, and electrical fittings for damage or wear before each use. Repair or replace damaged equipment immediately.
• Ensure all power sources conform to equipment voltage requirements and are disconnected before connecting or disconnecting equipment.
• When wiring electrically powered equipment, follow all electrical and safety codes.
• Wherever possible, use a residual current device (RCD).
• High voltage / high current power lines may be present. Use extreme caution to avoid contact or interference with power lines. Electrical shock can be fatal.

• Do NOT bypass the ON/OFF switch and operate equipment by connecting and disconnecting the electrical cord.

• Do NOT adjust while the equipment is running.
• Perform service related activities in suitable conditions, such as a workshop.
• Replace worn, damaged or missing warning/safety labels immediately.

Air Compressor Safety

• IMPORTANT! This compressor may arrive with no oil or insufficient oil. Ensure you confirm the oil level prior to starting. Fill the unit with oil SAE 20-30W to the top of the sight glass. The engine on this compressor may arrive with no oil or insufficient oil. Ensure you confirm the oil level prior to starting. Fill the unit with 10W-30 or 15W-40 or 20W-50 engine oil. Failure to check oil in both components will cause irreparable damage and will not be covered by warranty.
• Read and understand all the operating instructions, safety precautions and warnings in the Instruction before operating or maintaining this compressor.
• Most accidents that result from compressor operation and maintenance are caused by the failure to observe basic safety rules or precautions.
• An accident can often be avoided by recognizing a potential hazardous situation before it occurs, and by observing appropriate safety procedures.
• Basic safety precautions are outlined in the "SAFETY" section of this User Manual and in the sections that contain the operation and maintenance instructions.
• Hazards that must be avoided to prevent bodily injury or machine damage are identified by WARNINGS on the compressor and in this Instruction Manual.
• Never use this compressor in a manner
• that has not been specifically recommended by manufacturer, unless you first confirm that the planned use will be safe for you and others.
• WARNING: DEATH OR SERIOUS BODILY INJURY COULD RESULT FROM IMPROPER OR UNSAFE USE OF COMPRESSOR. TO AVOID THESE RISKS, FOLLOW THESE BASIC SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS.
• NEVER TOUCH MOVING PARTS. Never place your hands, fingers or other body parts near the compressor's moving parts.
• NEVER OPERATE WITHOUT ALL GUARDS IN PLACE. Never operate this compressor without all guards or safety features in place and in proper working order. If maintenance or servicing requires the removal of a guard or safety features, be sure to replace the guards or safety feature before resuming operation of the compressor.
• ALWAYS WEAR EYE PROTECTION. Always wear safety goggles or equivalent eye protection. Compressed air must never be aimed at anyone or any part of the body.
• PROTECT YOURSELF AGAINST ELECTRIC SHOCK. Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces such as pipes, radiators, ranges and refrigeration enclosures. Never operate the compressor in damp or wet locations.
• DISCONNECT THE COMPRESSOR. Always disconnect the compressor from the power source and remove the compressed air from the air tank before inspecting, maintaining, cleaning, replacing or checking any parts.
• AVOID UNINTENTIONAL STARTING. Do not carry the compressor while it is connected to its power source or when the air tank is filled with compressed air. Be sure the knob of the pressure switch in the "OFF" position before connecting the compressor to its power source.
• STORE COMPRESSOR PROPERLY. When not in use, the compressor should be stored in dry place. Keep out of reach of children. Lock-out the storage area.
• KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN. Cluttered areas invite injury. Clear all work areas of unnecessary tools, debris, furniture, etc.
• KEEP CHILDREN AWAY. Do not let visitors contact compressor extension cord. All visitors should be kept safely away from work area.
• DRESS PROPERLY. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery. They can be caught in moving parts. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair.
• DON'T ABUSE CORD. Never yank it to disconnect from receptacle. Keep cord from heated oil and sharp edges.
• MAINTAIN COMPRESSOR WITH CARE. Follow instructions for lubricating. Inspect cords periodically and if damaged, have repaired by authorised service facility. Inspect extension cords periodically and replace if damaged.
• OUTDOOR USE EXTENSION CORDS. When compressor is used outdoors, use only extension cords intended for use outdoors and so marked.

• STAY ALERT. Watch what you are doing. Use common sense. Do not operate compressor when you are tired. Compressor should never be used if you are under the influence of alcohol, drugs or medication that makes you drowsy.

• CHECK DAMAGED PARTS AND AIR LEAK. Before further use of the compressor, a guard or other part should be carefully checked to determine that it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for alignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, mounting, air leak, and any other conditions that may affect its operation. A guard or other part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorized service centre unless otherwise indicated elsewhere in this Instruction Manual. Have defective pressure switches replaced by authorized service centre. Do not use compressor if switch does not turn it on and off.

• HANDLE COMPRESSOR CORRECTLY. Operate the compressor according to the instructions provided herein. Never allow the compressor to be operated by children, individuals unfamiliar with its operation or unauthorized personnel.
• KEEP ALL SCREWS, BOLTS AND COVERS TIGHTLY IN PLACE. Keep all screws, bolts, and plates tightly mounted. Check their conditions periodically.
• KEEP MOTOR AIR VENT CLEAN. The motor air vent must be kept clean so that air can always freely flow. Check for dust build-up frequently.
• OPERATE COMPRESSOR AT THE RATED VOLTAGE. Operate the compressor at voltages specified on their nameplates. If using the compressor at a higher voltage than the rated voltage, it will result in abnormally fast motor revolution and may damage the unit and burn out the motor.
• NEVER USE A COMPRESSOR WHICH IS DEFECTIVE OR OPERATING ABNORMALLY. If the compressor appears to be operating unusually, making strange noises, or otherwise appears defective, stop using it immediately and arrange for repairs by an authorized service centre.
• DO NOT WIPE PLASTIC PARTS WITH SOLVENT. Solvents such as gasoline, thinner, benzene, carbon tetrachloride, and alcohol may damage and crack plastic parts. Do not wipe them with such solvents. Wipe plastic parts with a soft cloth lightly dampened with soapy water and dry thoroughly.
• USE ONLY GENUINE REPLACEMENT PARTS. Replacement parts not original may void your warranty and can lead to malfunction and resulting injuries. Genuine parts are available from your dealer.
• DO NOT MODIFY THE COMPRESSOR. Do not modify the compressor. Always contact the authorized service centre any repairs. Unauthorized modification may not only impair the compressor performance, but also may result in accident or injury to repair personnel who do not have the required knowledge and technical expertise to perform the repair operations correctly.
• TURN OFF THE PRESSURE SWITCH WHEN THE COMPRESSOR IS NOT USED. When the compressor is not used, turn the knob of the pressures witch OFF, disconnect it from the power source and open the drain cock to discharge the compressed air from the air tank. The air pressure switch is set at the factory for optimum performance of your equipment. Never bypass or remove this switch, as serious damage to equipment or personal could result from too high an air pressure.
• NEVER TOUCH HOT SURFACE. To reduce the risk of burns, do not touch tubes, heads, cylinder and motors.
• DO NOT DIRECT AIR STREAM AT BODY. Risk of injury; do not direct air stream at persons or animals.
• DRAIN TANK. Drain tank daily or after 4 hours of use. Open drain fitting and tilt compressor to empty accumulated water.
• DO NOT STOP COMPRESSOR BY PULLING OUT THE PLUG. Use the "AUTO/OFF" knob of pressure switch.
  • USE ONLY RECOMMENDED AIR HANDLING PARTS.
• ACCEPTABLE FOR PRESSURE NOT LESS THAN 125 PSI (8.6BAR). Risk of bursting. Use only recommended air handling parts acceptable for pressures not less than 125 PSI (8.6 bar).
• REPLACEMENT PARTS. When servicing use only identical replacement parts. Repairs should be conducted only by authorised service centre.
• TANK SAFETY VALVE. This valve is factory-installed to prevent the air receiver from damage should a malfunction occur in the compressor pump. It is factory set at a specific limit for your model and adjustment and should never be tampered with Adjustment by user will automatically void warranty.
• MOTOR AND COMPRESSOR PUMP. Air compressors get hot while in operation. Never touch the motor, discharge tubing, or compressor pump while in operation. The compressor operates automatically while the power is connected. Never attempt any adjustment with the power on. Never operate the compressor with the belt guard removed.
• COMPRESSED AIR CAUTION. Compressed air from the unit may contain carbon monoxide. Air produced is not suitable for breathing purposes. Always use a respirator when spraying paint or chemicals.
• AIR RECEIVER. Over pressurizing the air receiver could cause an explosion or rupture. To protect from over pressurizing a factory pre-set safely valve is included. DO NOT REMOVE, MAKE ADJUSTMENTS OR SUBSTITUTIONS FOR THIS VALVE. Occasionally pull the ring on the valve to make sure that the valve operates freely. If the valve does not operate freely, it must be replaced. Never weld to, drill into, or change the air receiver in any way. If any of the above conditions are changed or tampered with this may result in voiding of the manufacturer's warranty. Be advised that any replacement parts should be purchased with the same specifications as the original equipment parts contact your authorized dealer for replacement parts or specifications.

Installation and Location

1. Install the compressor in a clean, dry, and well-ventilated area. The compressor should be located 12 to 18 inches away from a wall or any other obstruction that would interfere with the air flow through the fan-bladed belt wheel.
2. Place the compressor on a firm, level surface. The compressor is designed with heat-dissipation fins, which allow for proper cooling, Keep the fins and other parts, that collect dust or dirt, clean. A clean compressor runs cooler and provides longer service. Do not place rags, containers, or other material on top of the compressor which would obstruct ventilation openings for proper compressor operating temperature.

For Vertical Types:

For permanent installation, the compressor should be bolted to the floor through holes provided in the compressor feet. Shims must be used to level the compressor before bolting it to the floor. Severe vibration will result when the compressor is bolted down tightly, and the feet are not level. This can lead to welds cracking or fatigue failure of the air receiver.

For Belt Types:

Install the triangular belt and adjust it so when pressure is applied at the centre, there is half an inch of slack.

NOTE: If the belt is installed too tightly, overloading of the motor will occur. This will cause the motor to overheat. If the belt is installed too loosely, it will slip, and unstable operation and vibration will occur.

CAUTION: The rotating direction for the flywheel must follow the arrow shown on the belt guard.

Compressor Lubrication

NOTE: CHECK THE OIL QUANTITY AND QUALITY BEFORE OPERATING THE COMPRESSOR. DO NOT ADD OR CHANGE OIL WHILE THE COMPRESSOR IS IN OPERATION. USE ONLY THE MMENDED SAE 20 OR 30 WEIGHT NON-DETERGENT OIL.

Compressor with Oil Level Gauge

1. Turn the oil-filling plug anti-clockwise, then pull it out.
2. The compressor is full when the oil level is between the "H" and "L" marks. Replace the oil filling plug.
3. ALWAYS KEEP THE OIL LEVEL BETWEEN THE "H" and "L" MARKS ON THE OIL GLASS.

Draining the Oil

1. Remove the oil drain plug. Allow oil to drain completely.
2. Replace the oil drain plug (it's recommended to use a sealing compound or Teflon tape to avoid leakage).
3. Refill with the recommended oil to the proper level.

Before Operating the Compressor

1. Check to see that all nuts and bolts are securely fixed.
2. Check to see if the belt is installed properly, and with proper tension (except direct coupler types).
3. Check if the quantity and quality of oil is correct (see Compressor Lubrication).
4. Check if the compressor is secured on a strong, stable, and level base (for belt types only).
5. Check if the oil breather is clean (except direct coupler types).
6. If the air filter is dirty, have it replaced or cleaned.
7. Check if the flywheel can be turned easily and smoothly (except direct coupler types).

Initial Start-Up Procedure

1. Open the air receiver service valve to permit air to escape, preventing air pressure build-up in the air receiver.
2. Plug-in the power supply cord (if applicable to your unit) into the mains power source.
3. For electric air compressors, please use an electricity supply within ±5% of local voltage.
4. Run the compressor for a minimum of twenty (20) minutes in this no-load position to lubricate the bearings and pistons.
5. Close air receiver service valves. Your compressor is ready for use.

Maintenance

Before doing any maintenance or adjustments to your air compressor, the following safety precautions should be taken:

• Disconnect electrical power.
  • Completely drain the air tank of pressure.

Daily or Before Each Use

• Check oil level.
• Drain/Remove any condensation from the tank.
• Inspect for any unusual noise or vibration.
• Ensure all nuts and bolts are securely fastened.

Weekly

• Clean the air filter by opening the air filter cap, removing the filer element and cleaning it thoroughly with soap and water. Rinse thoroughly and allow to air-dry completely before re-assembly. Old filters should be replaced.
• Clean the breather holes on the oil check dipstick.

Monthly

• Adjust the belt tension if needed and replace the belt if worn-out.
• Inspect the air system for leaks by applying soapy water to all joints. Tighten those joints if leakages are observed.

4.250 hours or six (6) months (whichever comes first):

• Change the compressor oil.
- Replace more often if compressor is used near paint spraying operations or in dusty environments.

Troubleshooting

Problem	Possible Causes	Corrective Actions
Compressor does not start	Blown fuse or tripped circuit breaker	Check for the cause of the blown fuse or breaker and replace or re-set.
	Loose electrical connections	Check the wiring connections.
	Overheated motor	Press the reset button or wait for the automatic reset. Also, check the V-belt tension.
Low pressure	Air leaks in safety valve	Check the valve manually by pulling upwards on the rings. If the condition persists, replace the valve.
	Loose tube or fittings	Tighten the fittings.
	Restricted air filter	Clean or replace, as necessary.
	V-belt is loose	Adjust the belt tension.
	Defective check-valve	Replace the check-valve.
Safety valve is releasing	Defective pressure switch or improver adjustment	Check for proper adjustment and if problem persists, replace the pressure switch.
Oil discharge in air	Improper oil viscosity	Replace the oil with 20-30 weight non-detergent oil.
	Too much oil in the crankcase	Drain the crankcase and fill to proper level.
	Compressor is overheated	Oil pressure is regulated too high.
	Restricted air filter	Clean or replace the filter.
	Worn-out piston rings	Replace the piston rings.
Excessive V-belt wear	V-belt is too loose	Adjust for proper tension.
	V-belt is too tight	Adjust for proper tension.
	Motor pulley out of alignment	Align the motor pulley by adjusting the position of the electric motor.

During the break-in period, nuts and bolts tend to loosen up. After two weeks, tighten all nuts and bolts, including head bolts. Then, check everything once a month to make sure all nuts and bolts stay securely fastened.
