What is the maximum transmission distance for 4K video with the HBT-16?

The HBT-16 can extend 4K video up to 100 meters using a single CAT.6A Ethernet cable when paired with the HBT-15 transmitter.

Does the HBT-16 require a separate power supply?

Yes, the HBT-16 requires a 56V DC power adapter (included). It can also provide Power over Ethernet (PoE) to the HBT-15 transmitter, so no separate power is needed at the transmitter end.

What control protocols does the HBT-16 support?

The HBT-16 supports DVIP Ethernet control and RS-422/RS-232 via a selectable DIP switch on the front panel. These allow remote control of connected cameras or other devices.

Can I use a regular Ethernet cable (Cat5e) for HDBaseT?

For best performance, especially at 4K60, use a CAT.6A cable as recommended. Lower resolutions may work with CAT.6 or CAT.5e but distance may be reduced.

Standard Warranty

• Datavideo equipment are guaranteed against any manufacturing defects for one year from the date of purchase.

• The original purchase invoice or other documentary evidence should be supplied at the time of any request for repair under warranty.

• The product warranty period begins on the purchase date. If the purchase date is unknown, the product warranty period begins on the thirtieth day after shipment from a Datavideo office.

• All non-Datavideo manufactured products (product without Datavideo logo) have only one year warranty from the date of purchase.
• Damage caused by accident, misuse, unauthorized repairs, sand, grit or water is not covered under warranty.
• Viruses and malware infections on the computer systems are not covered under warranty.
• Any errors that are caused by unauthorized third-party software installations, which are not required by our computer systems, are not covered under warranty.
• All mail or transportation costs including insurance are at the expense of the owner.
• All other claims of any nature are not covered.
• All accessories including headphones, cables, and batteries are not covered under warranty.
• Warranty only valid in the country or region of purchase.
• Your statutory rights are not affected.

Three Year Warranty

- All Datavideo products purchased after July 1st, 2017 are qualified for a free two years extension to the standard warranty, providing the product is registered with Datavideo within 30 days of purchase.

- Certain parts with limited lifetime expectancy such as LCD panels, DVD drives, Hard Drive, Solid State Drive, SD Card, USB Thumb Drive, Lighting, Camera module, PCIe Card are covered for 1 year.

- The three-year warranty must be registered on Datavideo's official website or with your local Datavideo office or one of its authorized distributors within 30 days of purchase.

1. Introduction

The HBT-15 and HBT-16 are respectively the HDBaseT transmitter and receiver with a maximum allowable transmission distance of 100 meters. The transmitter allows transmission of up to 4K50/59.94/60 image quality video.

With the 56V power connected to one end of the HBT-16 HDBaseT receiver, the HBT-16 will thus be able to power the transmitter by Power over Ethernet (PoE). On the transmitter end (HBT-15), there is also a 12V/30W DC output serving to supply power to backend devices.

HDBaseT connection between the transmitter and the receiver can be established using a single Ethernet cable. In other words, HDMI video, DVIP control commands and power (PoE) can be transmitted between the transmitter and the receiver using just one Ethernet cable (CAT.6A).

RS-232/RS-422 Interface

The RS-232/RS-422 port connects HBT-16 directly to Datavideo's camera controllers such as RMC-180, RMC-300A or RMC-300C. Use the RS-232 or RS-422 custom cable to connect. See RS-232/RS-422 pinout for more information about the respective cabling.

Use the DIP switch to select between RS-232 (00) and RS-422 (01).
