Frequently Asked Questions - SR2600URLX INTEL

What processors does the SR2600URLX support?

The Intel Server Board S5520UR supports dual Intel Xeon 5500 series processors. CPUs are not included with the system.

How many hard drives can be installed?

The system comes with 5 hot-swap 3.5" drive carriers. A 6th drive can be added using the optional ASR2500SIXDRV kit. All drives must be SAS or SATA.

Does the system include a RAID controller?

Yes, it includes an Active Midplane2 with an 8-port LSI 1078 SAS controller that supports basic RAID. For full hardware RAID (0,1,5,6), you need the AXXRAKSAS2 key and AXXMINIDIMM512 cache module.

What is the power supply specification?

The system includes one 750W hot-swap power supply. A second unit can be added (order AXX750WPS) for redundancy. The power supply is high-efficiency.

How many expansion slots are available?

The included active butterfly riser provides 5 PCI Express 2.0 x8 slots: 1 full-height x16, 2 full-height x8, and 2 low-profile x8. Alternate risers are available for different configurations.

Is the system hot-swap capable?

Yes, the SR2600URLX includes 6 redundant hot-swap fans and a hot-swap power supply. Drives are also hot-swappable via the backplane.

What management software is available?

Intel offers Intel System Management Software upgrades (Microsoft System Center Essentials) and optional Remote Management Module 3 (AXXRMM3) for out-of-band management.

Can I use SAS drives with the system?

Yes, the system supports both SAS and SATA drives. The included Active Midplane2 has an integrated SAS controller for direct SAS support. For passive configurations, a discrete SAS controller is needed.

What optional accessories can I order?

Key optional accessories include: second power supply (AXX750WPS), RAID upgrade key (AXXRAKSAS2), mini DIMM (AXXMINIDIMM512), battery backup (AXXRSBBU3), PCI-X riser (ASR26XXFHXR), 6th drive kit (ASR2500SIXDRV), and tape drive mounting kit (ASR2500SATAPE).

Does the system come with processors and memory?

No, processors, DDR3 memory, and hard drives are not included. The system includes heatsinks, DIMM blanks, and drive carriers, but you must install your own CPUs, RAM, and storage.

1. Intel® Server Systems (Integrated SKUs). Customer orders an integrated system. All systems – except SR1600URHS – are complete and ready to use with installation of CPUs and memory. Except SR1600URHS – systems do not require additional components.

All systems do not include Processors, DDR3 main memory, hard drives, and other customer configuration items

1. 10 Pack Server Board SS5520UR. Intended for customers utilizing 3^rd party chassis or for customers requiring spare boards.

4.1 Product Descriptions – Overview

VMware vSphere* software is now available when ordering an Intel® Server Board or Intel® Server System. Customers can only order these SKUs at the time they are ordering an Intel® Server Board or Intel® Server System. These SKUs cannot be ordered individually. The number of VMware vSphere SKU purchase has to coincide with number of system or boards purchased. Example: Order 10 boards – you can order 10 VMware SKUs. 4.2 VMware vSphere\* and vCenter\* Server SKUs
