Please note the following instructions when using the appliance:

  • Keep the instruction manual for future use. Should a third party be given the unit, please ensure the instruction manual is included.
    ■ The appliance is designed for domestic use only.
    ■ Never use the appliance in the bath, shower or over a wash basin filled with water; nor should it be operated with wet hands.

  • Do not immerse the appliance in water or let it come into contact with water, even during cleaning.
    If the appliance is used in the bathroom, it is essential that the power plug is pulled out after use, as any water close to the appliance can still pose a hazard, even if the appliance is switched off.

If not already in use, for additional protection it is recommended to install a residual current-operated protective device (RCD) with a rated residual operating current not exceeding 30 mA in the electrical circuit of your bathroom. Ask your plumber for advice.
■ Never cover the appliance, for example with a towel.
■ The appliance can become very hot. Never leave your hair between the ceramic plates for more than a few seconds.
- Do not allow the hot styling plates to come into contact with your face, neck or head.
■ Pull out the power plug after use. Do not disconnect the plug by pulling on the cord.
■ Place the appliance on a heat resistant surface and allow it to cool.
■ Never use the appliance if it or the power cord is visibly damaged.

If the power cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, a service centre or a similarly qualified person to avoid any danger of electrical shock.
- Keep the appliance out of the reach of children.
This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance. Cleaning and user maintenance shall not be made by children with out supervision.
■ Never open the appliance under any circumstance. No warranty claims are accepted for damage caused by improper handling.
- Check if the mains voltage on the type plate (on the handle of the appliance) corresponds to your local mains supply. The only way to disconnect the appliance from the mains is to pull out the plug.

Hints and tips

■ Hair should be completely dry to achieve the best results.
- Keep the strands of hair smooth whilst you work, to avoid ridges part way down the strand.
As with all straighteners that reach high salon temperatures, do not use the appliance frequently to avoid damage to hair.

Prepare

  • Plug appliance into a suitable mains supply. The straightener is ready for use. There is no need to preheat the straightener.
    ■ Always place straightener on a solid, flat, heat resistant surface. Do not place straightener on any soft or uneven surfaces such as carpets, bedding or rugs. Never cover the unit. The plates heat up to a high temperature (200°C) quickly.

Straightening hair

1 Switch the appliance ON using switch C.
- Power on indicator B illuminates.
2 Separate a section of hair approximately 5 cm in width and smooth it out with a brush. Start with the neck.
3 Place the section of hair between the plates A of the straightener as near to the hair line as you can and close the plates. Take care not to touch the hot plates.
4 Hold the straightener in place until the hair is fully heated. This will be almost instant.
5 Once the hair is heated, holding the hair taut, carefully slide the plates A along the section of hair, in one smooth movement all the way down to the ends.

Notes:

If you have thick hair, you might have to repeat this process on the same section several times.
- Keep the strands of hair smooth to avoid ridges.
■ Repeat the procedure section by section.
6 Repeat this procedure with steps 2 to 5.

7 After using the appliance, switch off the appliance using switch C and disconnect the power cord from the mains.

- Power on indicator B disappears.

Styling waves or curls

1 Switch the appliance ON using switch C.

- Power on indicator B illuminates.

Note:

■ Make sure your hair is copletely dry.

2 Comb or brush out a section of hair approximately 3cm in width, starting at the neck.

3 Place the section of hair between the plates A, as near to the hair line as you can, and then close them.

4 Depending on the hair style, rotate the appliance so that the hair wraps around it at the height of the plates A.

5 Slowly pull the appliance towards the ends of the hair.

- A curl is formed once the appliance has been pulled down and over the ends of the hair.

6 Repeat this procedure with steps 2 to 5.

7 After using the appliance, switch off the appliance using switch C and disconnect the power cord from the mains.

- Power on indicator B disappears.

Cleaning and care

1 Turn the appliance off and unplug it.
2 Before cleaning, allow the appliance to cool completely. The appliance can become very hot and may take up to 45 minutes to cool.
3 Clean the housing and the plates only with a damp, soft cloth.

Caution

■ Never put the appliance or power cord in water or any other liquid. Do not use any cleaning agents.

Note:

■ Before using the appliance after cleaning, dry all parts carefully using a soft towel.

Storage

If you do not plan to use the appliance for a long period of time, please store it carefully.

Make sure it is unplugged, has completely cooled down and is completely dry.

- Keep the appliance in the supplied bag.

Do not wrap the power cord around the appliance.

Place the appliance on one side of the cosmetic bag and the power cord on the other side.

■ Store it in a cool, dry place.
■ Make sure the appliance is kept out of the reach of children.
