Frequently Asked Questions - KA07HOAFRYA Kogan

What type of oil should I use?
We recommend using vegetable oil, canola oil, or peanut oil for best results. Avoid olive oil or butter as they burn easily.
How do I clean the deep fryer?
Allow the oil to cool completely. Remove the oil container and wash it with warm soapy water or place it in the dishwasher. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth.
Can I fry frozen food directly?
Yes, but for best results, thaw and pat dry the food first to avoid excessive splattering. Adjust cooking time accordingly.
How long does it take to preheat?
Preheating typically takes about 10-15 minutes. The indicator light will turn off when the set temperature is reached.
What is the maximum oil level?
Do not fill oil beyond the MAX line marked inside the container, usually around 2.5 liters. Overfilling can cause spillover.
Why does my deep fryer smoke?
Smoking may occur if the oil is overheated or if food particles burn. Reduce temperature and replace oil if it is old. Clean the fryer regularly.
Can I use the deep fryer on a stovetop?
No, this deep fryer is an electric appliance and should only be used on a flat, heat-resistant surface, away from water and heat sources.
How often should I change the oil?
Change the oil after every 8-10 uses or if it becomes dark, smells rancid, or starts smoking at normal cooking temperatures.
What safety features does it have?
The deep fryer includes overheat protection, automatic shut-off, and cool-touch handles to prevent burns.
Is the basket dishwasher safe?
Yes, the frying basket and lid are dishwasher safe. However, the heating element and base should not be submerged in water.

OVERVIEW

BEFORE FIRST USE

  • Remove all packaging materials, promotional labels, and tape from the unit.
  • Remove all accessories from the package and read this user guide carefully, paying particular attention to operational instructions, warnings, and important safeguards to avoid injury or product damage.
  • The device should be used for the first time without any food inside, as it may produce some smoke or odours due to coating residues. Allow the device to heat up on the highest temperature setting for approximately 5 minutes without any food in it.
  • Wash the grill grate, splatter shield, crisper basket, and cooking pot in warm, soapy water, then rinse and dry thoroughly. The grill grate, splatter shield, crisper basket, and cooking pot are also dishwasher safe. Never clean the main unit in the dishwasher.

Splatter Shield

  • Located on the underside of the lid, the splatter shield keeps the heating element clean. Always ensure the splatter shield is installed when cooking.
  • Failure to use the splatter shield will result in oil buildup on the heating element, which can cause smoking.

Installing the splatter shield:

- To install, gently push the splatter shield into the back of the lid. Align the back tab of the splatter shield with the slot on the back of the lid. Then push the splatter shield upward until it clicks into the clip on the front of the lid.

Removing the splatter shield:

Remove the splatter shield for cleaning after every use. First, allow the splatter shield to cool completely. Then, remove it by using your thumb to release the front clip by pushing the front clip upward and using your other hand to pull one of the tabs toward you. This will release the splatter shield, allowing you to pull it out of the slot along the back of the lid.
