Safety Warnings

Please read this instruction manual thoroughly before attempting to use this appliance for the first time. This manual contains important information on safe installation, use and care of the appliance. Keep these instructions for reference and pass them on to future user.

Unpackaging

• Do not use the appliance if there are obvious signs of transportation damage.
• If the power supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or qualified technician to avoid hazard.
• Please ensure that young children do not play with plastic bag packaging.

For Installer

• Before beginning installation, it is advisable to remove the grease filter to better handle the hood.
  • Installation and repair should be done only by qualified technical personnel.
• When installing the hood observe the following minimum distances from the cooking top:

Hood and gas hob: 700mm

Hood and induction hob: 600 to 650mm

• The manufacturer will not be held liable in case of failure to adopt proper safety measures.
• Ensure the location in which this appliance is installed has good permanent ventilation.
• Use an electrical connector with earth that is correct for your location.
• Check that the voltage in your area is correct before plugging in.
• The electrical connection of this appliance must be connected to earth.

Green & Yellow = EARTH

Blue = NEUTRAL

Brown = LIVE

• Multiple plugs and extension cables must not be used. Overload is dangerous and may cause fire.
• Ensure that the power supply cord is free from any heat source or sharp objects.
• Failure to observe these basic instructions will drastically reduce the performance and increase the noise levels of the extractor hood.

For User

• The extractor hood is designed for domestic use to eliminate unpleasant odors from the kitchen. Do not use the hood for uses other than its specific purpose.
• Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance.

It is dangerous to modify any part of this appliance.

• Tampering with electrical connections or mechanical parts can cause operation faults and may put the user at risk.
• Never leave high naked flames under the extractor hood when it is in operation. Always cover lit burners with cookware.
• Never carry out any flambé cooking under the hood.
• It is extremely important to note that overheating can cause a fire.
• The hood must always be disconnected from the electricity supply before beginning any maintenance work.
• Accumulated grime is highly combustible; hence it is very important to clean the hood and replace the filter at the recommended intervals. Failure to do so could cause grease deposits to build up, resulting in a fire hazard.

Cleaning & Maintenance

Disconnect the power supply cord before carrying out any cleaning or maintenance activities. It is important to clean and/or replace the filters at appropriate intervals as grease deposits build-up increases the risk of fire. Do not operate the extractor hood without grease filter.

SURFACES

• Clean the extractor hood using warm detergent solution and a soft damp cloth. Wipe dry with a lint free cloth.
• Avoid using corrosive or abrasive products that could damage the surface.
• Never insert pointed objects in the motor's protective grid.
• Only clean the switch panel and filter grill using a damp cloth and mild washing up liquid.
• It is extremely important to clean the unit and change the filters at the recommended intervals. Failure to do so will cause grease deposits to build up that could constitute a fire hazard.
• Never use metallic scouring pads or abrasive products that could damage the surface. Do not use scrapers with metallic surfaces such as knives, scissors etc.

CHARCOAL FILTERS (only in re-circulating model)

• Charcoal filters cannot be reused and must be replaced with the appropriate types once every six months or depending on the frequency of the appliance usage. You may want to lean closer the frequency if you do a lot of cooking, or if your cooking style includes a lot of spicy or greasy foods. Once your filter is saturated, it is the indication that it is time to change the filter. You can purchase the filter from Mayer Service Centre or on Mayer e-Store.
• Regular maintenance is essential to allow this appliance to function effectively.
• Clogged filters restrict airflow and may cause the motor to overheat.

RECTIFIER PANEL AND OIL CUP

(only available for selected models)

• The rectifier panel and oil cup should be cleaned regularly, once a month, depending on the frequency of the appliance usage.
• Always use both hands to carefully hold on to the parts upon removing to prevent oil dripping out.
• Wash with warm or hot soapy water and a soft sponge. Avoid using abrasive detergent and scouring pads as these will cause scratch on the stainless steel finishing.

ALUMINIUM FILTERS

• Grease filters are used to absorb the grease particles formed during cooking process. The filters must be removed and cleaned every 4 weeks, depending on how often the appliance is used.
• Soak the panels in a degreasing agent for an hour then rinse off.
• Do not bend the filters during washing.

LED LIGHT REPLACEMENT

- Remove the filter support to access the bulbs. Ensure that the mains are disconnected beforehand and that the bulbs to be replaced are not hot.
