Frequently Asked Questions - DG10502 SIEMENS

How do I set the water temperature on my Siemens DG10502?
Turn the temperature selector switch to the desired position. Options: 0 (off), I (approx. 35°C for energy saving), e (approx. 55°C for average use), III (approx. 75°C for cleaning). To limit the maximum temperature, adjust the temperature limiter pin inside the cover.
What should I do if the water does not heat up?
First check the fuse in the fusebox and ensure the temperature selector switch is set correctly. If the safety temperature limiter has tripped, call customer service for repair. Do not attempt to repair yourself.
How do I check the safety valve?
At least once a month, move handle 1 to the left until water flows out of the outlet. If no water flows, switch off the appliance and have the valve checked by an engineer.
Why is water dripping from the safety valve?
The valve may be clogged. Shut off the cold water supply, open the hot water tap to relieve pressure, then clean the exchangeable cartridge or the pressure reducing valve as described in the manual. If dripping persists, replace the cartridge.
Can I install the water heater in an unheated room?
No, the appliance must be installed in a frost-free room because residual water can freeze and cause damage.
How do I empty the appliance for maintenance?
Disconnect the plug, close the corner valve, open the mixer tap to equalize pressure, then disconnect the threaded connections at the inlet and outlet and empty the heater.
What is the energy efficiency class of this water heater?
The Siemens DG10502 has an energy efficiency class of A, with a hot water heating energy efficiency of 35.2%.
How often should the appliance be serviced?
The appliance should be checked thoroughly by a qualified engineer every 2 years. Additionally, the safety valve should be checked monthly by the user.
Can I connect more than one tap to this water heater?
Yes, the pressurized water heater can supply multiple taps (e.g., washbasin and sink). Use a T-piece on the hot-water outlet and install a safety valve arrangement.
What should I do if no water flows from the tap?
Check that the main water tap and corner valve are open. If they are, the filter in the tap may be clogged; remove and clean or descale it.

Product description

This appliance is a sealed water heater (pressurized water heater).

Only use fittings and mixer taps permitted for pressurized water heaters.

One or more tap connections (e. g. washbasin + sink) can be supplied with hot-water.

■ Water pressure at the cold-water connection is a max. 5 bar, otherwise fit a pressure-reducing valve.
■ After installation, completely fill the water heater with water and check that it functions properly.
Explain to the user how the appliance and the safety valve arrangement operate. Hand over the operating instructions to the user.

Water connection

■ Install mixer tap on washbasin.
Instead of the cold-water corner valve, screw in pressure-tight the Siemens safety fitting. Handle 1 must be in a horizontal position after installation.

Maintenance for the qualified professional

If water is constantly dripping out of the safety valve, it probably requires cleaning. Before servicing the safety valve, the inlet to the water heater must be blocked.

■ Shut off the safety valve 2.
- Open the hot-water tap (to eliminate water pressure in the heater).

To clean the pressure control valve

■ Unscrew the exchangeable cartridge 3.
- Rinse the valve seat and gaskets with cold, clean water.
Screw the exchangeable cartridge 3 firmly back in.
■ Open the safety valve 2.

- Check for leakage.

To clean the pressure reducing valve

■ Mark the position of the adjusting screw 4.
■ Turn the adjusting screw 4 counter-clockwise until the turnstop is reached (to decompress the spring).
■ Unscrew the screw cap 5.
- Use pliers to remove the cartridge 6 of the pressure reducing valve and rinse with cold, clean water.
■ Screw the cartridge 6 back on.
■ Screw on the screw cap 5.
■ Turn the adjusting screw 4 clockwise until the original, marked position is reached.

If water still drips from the safety valve, replace the cartridge.
