Frequently Asked Questions - 3800gHD HONEYWELL

How do I connect the 3800gHD to my computer?
Connect the interface cable to the scanner and your computer. The scanner is plug-and-play for most systems. Install the Honeywell Scan Configuration software for advanced settings.
The scanner is not reading barcodes. What should I do?
Ensure the barcode is clean and well-lit. Try scanning a different barcode. If it still fails, perform a factory reset by scanning the reset barcode in the manual. Also check cable connections.
Can I use this scanner with a smartphone?
The 3800gHD is primarily designed for computers via USB or RS232. To use with a smartphone, you may need an OTG adapter and compatible scanning app, but full functionality is not guaranteed.
What barcode types does it support?
It supports most 1D barcodes including Code 39, Code 128, EAN-13, UPC-A, Interleaved 2 of 5, and many more. Refer to the specifications for the full list.
How do I clean the scanner lens?
Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or a mild lens cleaner. Do not use abrasive cleaners or solvents. Dry the lens before scanning.
What does the 'High Density' (HD) model mean?
The HD model is optimized for reading very small or dense barcodes (as low as 3 mil). It has a narrower scan angle and better resolution for high-density codes.
How do I change the interface settings (USB vs RS232)?
Use the configuration barcodes from the user manual to switch between interfaces. Alternatively, use the Honeywell Scan Configuration software to set the interface.
Is the scanner compatible with Mac computers?
Yes, it works with Mac via USB HID mode. No additional drivers are needed. It will appear as a keyboard, and scanned data will be typed into the active window.
What is the maximum scan distance?
The typical reading distance is 0 to 30 cm for high-density barcodes, and up to 50 cm for standard barcodes. Exact range depends on barcode size and quality.
Where can I find the user manual?
The user manual is available for free download on notice-facile.com or the official Honeywell support website. It contains setup instructions, troubleshooting, and configuration barcodes.
