Before First Use
- Remove all packaging material and check whether the appliance is complete.
• Fully unwind the power cord. - Clean the detachable parts as described under Clean and Care.
- Place the appliance on an even and heat resistant surface and connect it to a properly installed wall socket.
- Before making your first coffee, rinse the unit by filling the water tank (2) up to the Max. and operate it 2-3 times without coffee and paper filter resp. permanent filter. After that your coffee maker is ready for operation.
Note: After each rinse cycle, the appliance has to be switched off for approx. 5 minutes, in order to cool down
Warning: ⚠️ Plastic bags are a danger to toddlers and babies, therefore keep them away to avoid suffocation.
Operation
Your coffee maker 10220 comes with a permanent filter which has to be inserted into the filter holder before use. The permanent filter has to be cleaned after each time of usage. The usage of a paper filter is therefore not necessary. But, if you should wish to use a paper filter, just insert it (size 1 x 4) into the filter holder.
Brewing Coffee
Using a Paper Filter
- Place the appliance on an even and heat resistant surface and connect it to a properly installed wall socket.

Open the appliance lid (1) and fill the water tank (2) with cold, fresh tap water. The markings on the water tank (2) indicate the required water level to brew the desired number of cups. Do not exceed the Max. filling level (8 cups).

Insert a standard paper filter 1 x 4 into the removable filter holder (5). Make sure to fold the edges of the paper filter and push it slightly down.
Note: When using a paper filter remove the permanent filter from the filter holder before inserting the paper filter.

For each cup of coffee, use one leveled measuring spoon (10) of grounded coffee. For stronger or milder coffee, adjust the amount of coffee!

Close the appliance lid (1).

Place the thermo jug (7) with its lid on into the appliance. Make sure that the lid is properly screwed on and that the lever button of the lid is pointing towards the handle.

Make sure that the thermo jug (7) is properly placed in the appliance and press the On/Off button (3) to switch on the appliance. The integrated indicator light indicates that the appliance is in operation. An integrated mechanism automatically opens the lid for the brewing through function. Note: The brewing process can be interrupted at any time by pressing the On/Off button (3). Once the unit is switched on again, the appliance will continue with the brewing process. If you wish to have a cup of coffee before the brewing cycle is completed, remove the thermo jug (7) from the appliance. Due to the automatic drip stop, dripping will automatically cease. Put the thermo jug (7) back within 30 seconds dripping process will automatically resume.

After the brewing cycle is completed (no more water is dripping through the filter), switch off the appliance by pressing the On/Off switch (3).
Note: Never open the appliance lid (1) during operation – hot water could evaporate – Danger of serious burns!
Note: If you wish to prepare more than one pot of coffee, the appliance has to be switched off for approx. 5 minutes, in order to cool down.
Using the permanent filter
When using the permanent filter, do not insert a paper filter!
Instead of inserting a paper filter into the filter holder (5) you can insert the permanent filter (6) into the filter holder (5). Add your grounded coffee and follow steps 5 – 8.
After use, remove the grounded coffee and clean the permanent filter (6) as described under Cleaning and Care.
Thermo jug / brewing through lid
The thermo jug (7) accumulates heat energy. Therefore, the jug should preferably be filled to its max. capacity.
Tip: Before starting the brewing process, rinse your thermo jug (7) with hot tap water. To obtain tasteful coffee, br least half a jug otherwise the temperature will not be held as efficiently.
The brewing through lid does not close hermetically. Therefore, always hold the thermo jug (7) upright when filled with coffee.
When serving coffee, simply press down and hold the lever button of the lid and the coffee will be pouring out from the spout.
Removing / Fastening the brewing through lid
To remove / fasten the lid follow the arrow position.

To fasten the lid, insert it into the thermo jug and turn it clockwise until it is fixed. The lever button of the lid should point towards the handle of the jug.
Cleaning and Care
Before cleaning, always switch off the appliance and disconnect it from the mains. Let it completely cool down. Never immerse the appliance in water. Danger! Electric Shock!
Clean the body of the appliance with a moistened soft cloth. Do not use any aggressive cleaning agents and/or other hard objects to clean the appliance.
The thermo jug is not dishwasher safe, rinse it with some tap water and dry it afterwards. All detachable parts can be cleaned in warm water using some dishwashing detergent, rinse them afterwards and dry them thoroughly.
DESCALING
Depending on the water quality and usage, calcification can occur. Therefore, to keep your coffee maker operating efficiently, you should descale it on a regular basis.
Never use any sharp, pointed or metal objects to remove limescale built up in the appliance. To remove limescale, use a common gentle descaler, which is suitable for your appliance. Follow the manufacturer's instructions.
After descaling, always rinse your appliance as described under Before First Use.
Note: Descaler mixtures should not be poured down enamel coated sinks
Storage
Disconnect the appliance from the mains and let it completely cool down.
Keep the appliance away from children and store it in a clean and dry place.
Disposal Instructions

Waste electrical devices marked with this sign must not be disposed of with your household waste, but – according to the EU directive on Waste Electric And Electronic Equipment of 24th March 2005 – are to be collected separately. Therefore, please return this device at the end of its life cycle to special collection points for disposal or your local dealer.
