IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS FOR ELECTRICAL APPLIANCES
- The appliance is heated electrically. Place the appliance near a suitable wall power outlet to connect the appliance to a protected mains power supply. The used power outlet must be connected properly with protective conductor (earth/ground) and separated from other power outlets. Ensure that the ratings of your mains power supply correspond to the requirements of the appliance (230 V AC, 50 - 60 Hz, at least 10 A). The installation of a residual current operated circuit breaker (r.c.c.b.) with a maximum rated residual operating current of 30 mA in the supplying electrical circuit is strongly recommended. If in doubt, contact your electrician for further information. In various foreign countries, the specifications for power supplies are subject to incompatible norms. Therefore it is possible that power supplies in foreign countries do not meet the requirements for safe operation of the appliance. Thus, before operating the appliance abroad, ensure that safe operation is possible. Do not use any desk top multi socket outlet, external timer, remote control systems, or extension cord. The power outlet must always be easily accessible so that it would be possible to unplug the appliance immediately in case of any malfunction or danger.
- Always handle power cords with care. The power cord may never touch hot surfaces, sharp edges, or any moving parts. Do not let the plug or power cord hang over the edge of the table or counter. Ensure that no one will pull the appliance by the power cord. Power cords may never be knotted, twisted, pulled, strained or squeezed. Always grasp the plug to disconnect the power cord. Do not touch the appliance or power plug with wet hands, while the appliance is connected to the power supply. Do not place or immerse the housing or power cord of the appliance in any liquid or in an automatic dishwasher! DO NOT spill or drip any liquids on the housing or the power cord to avoid risk of fire and electric shock. Wipe off spilled liquids immediately. Dab dry extremely wet food, before loading the food trays. When liquids ran in the dehydration chamber or under the appliance or run down on the exterior of the housing, immediately unplug and dry the appliance (see: 'Care and Cleaning'). However, some droplets of water dripping from your food onto the base of the dehydration chamber are harmless.

PROPERTIES OF YOUR NEW FOOD DEHYDRATOR
Your new food dehydrator is intended for drying almost all types of fresh food. For this, the fan assembly at the rear of the dehydration chamber provides a constant flow of warm air with variable temperature. The especially designed fan minimizes the noise during operation.
- Due to the horizontal air flow within the dehydration chamber, merging the flavours of food on the different food trays into each other is avoided as far as possible. You may insert, exchange, or take out the food trays any time you like, even during operation. Leaving some shelves empty will not influence the dehydrating performance. An even drying performance is enabled via the constant temperature and air flow within the complete dehydration chamber. Provided that the air can flow without obstacles, in most cases, it does not matter, how your food is arranged within the dehydration chamber. In rare cases, you may turn the complete food trays or even swap the food trays with each other within the dehydration chamber. Simply keep the door of the dehydration chamber closed during operation.
- The appliance is controlled via touch bottoms, providing a smooth and even surface for easy cleaning. Additionally, there is no need to press on the buttons. Simply touch them. The appliance confirms each entry via an acoustic signal. Dehydrating time and temperature can be adapted to the type and freshness of your food, the thickness of the slices and pieces and the desired consistency (see: 'Tips for Best Results / Preparating Your Food'). You may change these operating parameters any time you like, even during operation.
- The remaining dehydrating time is displayed as a count down. When the count down reaches zero ("00:00"), the appliance cancels operation automatically and switches back to standby.
- The temperature unit may be toggled from °C to °F and vice versa (see: 'Operation / Changing the Temperature Unit').
- An overheat protection device improves the operational safety, while the appliance is operated for several hours.
- A separate On/Off switch at the rear provides additional safety during your preparations and breaks. However, when you do not intend to operate the appliance for several hours and days, always unplug the appliance. As an additional benefit, in general, this will protect electronically controlled appliances from over-voltage caused by the power supply, and therefore ensures a prolonged lifetime.
IMPORTANT - Do not let the appliance operate continuously for more than 24 hours. After each 24 hours of operation, unplug the appliance and make a break of at least 2 hours for prolonging the lifetime of the fan assembly.
TIPS FOR BEST RESULTS
Before dehydrating (drying) your food, some steps of preparation are required (see below: 'Preparing Your Food'). However, an essential rule is: Only use food in perfect condition for dehydration.
- Very larger pieces will be dehydrated better, when cut into slices or stripes. However, small apricots, peaches, and pears may be dried in halves. In these cases, expect a considerably elongated dehydrating time. Do not place any food directly onto the base of the dehydration chamber! Additionally, ensure that no pieces of food hang down from the food trays and therefore block the air flow. During use, it is good advice to cover the bottom of the dehydration chamber via the provided plastic tray.
- For free circulation of air, sufficient free space above each food tray is required. Therefore, leave the shelf directly above large pieces empty. As well, when you did not fill all trays, you should leave empty the appropriate number of shelves between the food trays. Flavours of strongly aromatic types of food (e.g. onions, garlic, some herbs, fish) could influence other delicate food, when dried in the same dehydration cycle. Therefore, you should load your food sorted according to their various tastes and types and process them in separated dehydration cycles.
- Flavours will not merge so easily, when loading each food tray with only one type of food (e.g. apples). Sort your food accordingly. If possible, leave a shelf empty between food trays that are loaded with different types of food (e.g. apples and peaches).
- Ensure that no droplets drip down from the upper food trays onto the food below. Dab dry very moist types of food, before loading the food trays. Food that could drip, should be placed on the lowest shelf. Protect the base of the dehydration chamber via the plastic tray.
- Spread your pieces of food on the food trays separated from each other with some free space left between the single pieces. This will ensure good circulation of air, therefore your food will be dried evenly and the pieces will not stick together. The correct dehydrating time and temperature depend on the amount and type of food, the humidity and thickness of slices or pieces and the desired consistency. If possible, you could select a somewhat higher temperature. Increase the temperature as well, when loading the dehydration chamber with large amounts of food. Clean the appliance, before starting the next dehydration cycle to avoid any interference of flavours and the buildup of unpleasant odours. After the dehydration process, store dried food within sterilized and dry vessels in the refrigerator. If possible, you should store your food in evacuated bags and containers.
- For storing dried food, prefer vessels resistant to heat up to at least 100°C. Sterilize the vessels via boiling water. To avoid that germs get in again, leave the vessels dry naturally, where it is clean. Keep in mind, that the consistency of dried food may change during storage. You should consume dried food before long. To avoid prolonged storage, prefer to dehydrate smaller portions.
PREPARATING YOUR FOOD
Clean all pieces of food carefully under running tap water. Remove all inedible parts (e.g. shells, stalks, seeds, and stones). Depending on the type of food, you should perform the following further steps of Preparating Your Food.
- Whenever possible, the pieces of food should not be thicker than 2cm (4/5 inch) for getting an efficient drying performance. If applicable, spread a little lemon juice on food that may change colour, when it is in contact with air (e.g. apples, some vegetables). Most types of vegetables should be blanched for 3-5 minutes (cooked in water, steam or oil), before dehydrating. Marinate meat in salty liquid to remove the moisture and keep your meat fresh. After marinating, cut the meat into stripes. Poultry needs to be cooked, before dehydration. Steam or roast the pieces until they are well done. Fish should be steamed, roasted, or baked for approx. 20 minutes in your oven. Wash herbs and remove any already wilted parts. For drying, spread the whole leaves on the food trays. After dehydration, store the dried herbs in whole. Just before usage, remove the stalks and grind or crumble the leaves. This is the best way to avoid excessive loss of flavour. Bread slices should be dried without the crust. You will get a delicious snack, when seasoning the bread slices before dehydration.
BEFORE FIRST USE
⚠ WARNING – Always keep the appliance, its parts, accessories, and packaging out of reach of children younger than 8 years and animals! Always unplug the appliance and leave the appliance cool down, before cleaning it, and when it is not in use. Do not place or immerse the housing or power cord in water or other liquids or spill any liquids on or in the housing or power cord. Do not pour or spill any liquids in the dehydration chamber. Do not use any abrasive or corrosive cleaners for cleaning to avoid damage to the surfaces. Do not place the housing or power cord in an automatic dishwasher.
IMPORTANT - The door of the appliance is closed via a magnet. For opening it, simply pull at the right side.
- Unpack the appliance and all parts and accessories carefully. For moving the appliance, it is best to hold it at the handles at both sides. Check that no parts are damaged or missing (see: 'Knowing Your New Food Dehydrator'). Carefully remove all packaging, shipping materials, stickers, and promotional materials. However, DO NOT remove the model label or warning labels.
- Very first heating: For preparing the heating element of the fan assembly for operation, let the appliance operate on maximum temperature (75°C) for approx. 10 minutes (see: "Operation"). Thereafter, cancel operation via the "Start/Stop" button and wait until the fan stops operation automatically (approx. 10 seconds). Then, unplug the appliance. Let the appliance cool down completely with the door open.
- Clean the appliance and its parts, before first use and after a prolonged period of storage (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
OPERATION
WARNING – Always ensure that the appliance and all its parts and accessories are out of reach of children younger than 8 years and animals. The appliance is intended for dehydrating (drying) edible food via an electrically powered heating system. Do not attempt to heat the appliance or its parts by any other source of heat. Improper use or misuse may cause severe injuries and damage. Do not pour or spill any liquids onto the housing or into the dehydration chamber of the appliance. However, a few droplets of juices dripping onto the base of the dehydration chamber during operation, are no reason for concern. Always unplug the appliance, when the appliance is not in use.
During operation: Do not move the appliance. Always ensure that the fan assembly at the rear of the dehydration chamber and the ventilation slits in the housing will not be blocked. Additionally, the air must flows unhindered within the dehydration chamber. For this, food may not hang down from the food trays and at least 1.5cm of free space must be left between the food trays. When loading a food tray with thick pieces exceeding approx. 2 cm |4/5 inch ^1 , leave the shelf above this food tray empty. The dehydrating performance will be improved by cutting very thick pieces in smaller slices. Do not place any food onto the base of the dehydration chamber.
⚠ WARNING – You should keep an eye on the appliance, during operation. However, before leaving the appliance operate unattended for some time, always ensure correct functioning according to the instructions given in this booklet (see also: 'Important Safeguards'). Ensure that the appliance is always accessible via a reliable person, who is instructed accordingly.
CAUTION – After 24 hours of continuous operation, let the appliance rest for at least 2 hours to avoid damage to the fan assembly.
NOTE
After operation, the fan runs on for 10 seconds. This ensures a long lifetime of the fan assembly. The appliance is in standby mode, when "00:00" is displayed
1. Prepare your food (see: 'Tips for Best Results'). Dab dry extremely wet food.
2. For moving the appliance it is best to hold it at the handles at both sides. Place the appliance on a suitable table or counter near an appropriate wall power outlet. Then, open the door of the appliance and pull the food trays out of the dehydration chamber. Spread your food on the food trays, leaving some space between the single pieces to allow unhindered air circulation. Cover the bottom of the dehydration chamber via the provided plastic tray.
3. Push the loaded food trays into the dehydration chamber. When you do not need to load all food trays, you should leave the appropriate number of shelves between the loaded food trays empty. This will improve the air circulation. Close
the door of the appliance. Insert the power plug into the wall power outlet and switch the on/off switch at the rear to "I". The appliance sounds an acoustic signal and "00:00" is displayed (standby mode).
- When touching the "Start/Stop" button, the default dehydrating time is shown ("10:00"; 10 hours) and the appliance starts operation at once.
NOTE
The type, amount, consistency, and thickness of the food pieces will determine the required settings (see: 'Tips for Best Results'). You can change the dehydrating time and temperature or terminate operation any time you like.
- Touch the adjusting buttons "-" or "+" to select the desired dehydrating time from 30 minutes ("00:30") to 24 hours ("24:00") in steps of 30 minutes. If required, hold your finger on the button to let the shown time run automatically to the desired setting. Touch the "Time/Temp" button. The temperature value flashes on the display. Via the adjusting buttons select the desired temperature between 35°C and 75°C.
IMPORTANT - When no button is touched, the temperature flashes for approx. 4 seconds on the display. Thereafter, the dehydrating time is shown again and the adjusting buttons are used for changing the dehydrating time.
⚠ WARNING – Before leaving the appliance operate unattended, always ensure correct operation (see also: "Important Safeguards"). The appliance must always be accessible during operation. Instruct someone reliable, to check the correct functioning regularly and to unplug the appliance, if any type of malfunction or danger occurs.
NOTE
You may remove and/or insert the food trays any time you like during operation. This may help to check the consistency of your food. However, you should leave the door of the appliance closed whenever possible for ensuring correct and efficient functioning and an even drying performance. The still remaining dehydrating time is shown as a count down on the display. When the dehydration cycle is finished ("00:00" is reached), an acoustic signal sounds, the appliance stops operation automatically and switches to standby mode. For saving energy, do not leave the appliance switched on and connected to the power supply uselessly.
IMPORTANT - Depending on the set temperature, the food trays and the pieces on them may be hot. If required, protect your hands.
-
When your food reached the correct consistency, if required, stop operation via the "Start/Stop" button [display shows "00:00"]. Remove the food trays and transfer your food in sterilized containers or bags. Store your food in the refrigerator or freezer.
-
Immediately thereafter, you may fill the food trays with another portion of food and start a new dehydration cycle beginning with step 3. However, after 24 hours of continuous operation, completely switch off and unplug the appliance (see step 11). Make a break of approx. 2 hours, before operating the appliance again. If you do not wish to operate the appliance again, ensure that the fan assembly stopped working audibly (approx. 10 seconds after stopping operation). Then switch the on/off switch to "O" (display is dark) and unplug the appliance.
- Clean the appliance and all used parts after each use (see: 'Care and Cleaning').
MAKING MUESLI BARS
Via the muesli pans, you can create your own muesli bars, for getting a convenient and healthy snack between meals and on the way.
- Prepare the muesli dough according to your recipe.
- Spread the muesli dough in the wells of the muesli pans avoiding to overfill the wells.
NOTE
You may fill up the wells to the rim. On the other food trays, you may dehydrate other food in the same dehydration cycle. In this case, expect a prolonged dehydrating time.
- Place the muesli pans onto a food tray and activate the appliance with the appropriate settings, given in your recipe. In most cases, the maximum temperature will do (see above).
- Leave the appliance operate until the muesli bars reach the desired consistency.
- If your muesli bars are still too wet, place them on the food tray again and let the appliance operate for another period of time. If the dehydration process is finished, if required, cancel operation via the "Start/Stop" button, wait approx. 10 seconds until the fan stops working, and switch off the appliance via the on/off switch at the rear. Then, unplug the appliance.
- If required, protect your hands with pot holders and take the muesli pans out of the dehydration chamber. Turn out the muesli bars carefully over a sufficiently large flat dish or tablet.
CHANGING THE TEMPERATURE UNIT
On delivery, the temperature is displayed in °C (Celsius). If required, you may toggle the unit of temperature to °F (Fahrenheit) and back. The appliance will keep your selection—even after unplugging the appliance.
With the appliance in standby mode (display shows "00:00"), hold your finger approx. 4 seconds on the "Time/Temp" button until a signal sounds and "FC" is displayed. Thereafter, when starting operation and touching the "Time/Temp" button, the temperature will be shown in the other temperature unit.

| The food trays are overloaded. | Separate the individual pieces of food. The air circulation within the dehydration chamber may not be blocked. If required, take out some food and separate your food to smaller portions. | |
| The food has been too wet, when starting operation. | Give the dehydration process some more time. Wipe off any liquid that dripped onto the base of the dehydration chamber. Dab dry very juicy food, before dehydration. | |
| The pieces may be too large or too thick. | Cut your food to smaller and thinner stripes and slices. If the thickness of the pieces exceeds 2-2.5 cm (1 inch), leave the shelf above a loaded food tray empty. | |
| The temperature is set below the current room temperature. | Select a sufficiently higher dehydrating temperature (see: "Operation"). Ensure that the room temperature is between 15°C and 25°C. | |
| Problem Reason The Solution | ||
| The room temperature is too low. | With a high setting of the dehydrating temperature and a very low room temperature, it is possible that the set temperature is not reached all over the dehydration chamber. Ensure that the room temperature is between 15°C and 25°C. | |
| The humidity of the environment is very high. | The dehydration process depends on the humidity of the environmental air. When the humidity is very high, you should expect a prolonged dehydrating time. Increase the dehydrating time or temperature. However, it is better to select a room with lower humidity for operation. | |
| The internal fuse of the appliance has been triggered or the heating element is broken. | Get in contact with an authorized service centre for examination and repair. | |
| Even after switching to standby mode, the fan runs on. | This is normal operation. The fan stops operation automatically after 10 seconds. | It is good advice to wait until the fan stops working, before switching the on/off switch to "O" and unplugging the appliance. |
| Unusual temperature values are shown. | The temperature unit has been toggled. | Switch back to the unit of temperature, you are used to (°C or °F; see: 'Operation / Changing the Temperature Unit'). |
CARE AND CLEANING
WARNING - Always unplug the appliance and let it cool down, before cleaning the appliance. Always ensure that all parts of the appliance are out of reach of children younger than 8 years and animals. Do not spill or pour any liquids in or on the appliance or power cord. Do not place or immerse the appliance or power cord in any liquids. DO NOT place the appliance or power cord in an automatic dishwasher!
CAUTION - After a long time of usage, it may occur that dust covers the interior of the fan assembly. However, DO NOT poke in the fan assembly at the rear of the dehydration chamber. Instead, you may use a hoover for carefully sucking off the dust as far as possible. Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or aggressive liquids (e.g. bleach, solvents) or any hard or sharp-edged objects (e.g. scoring pads, knives, scrapers) for cleaning the appliance or any part of it. Do not use violence.
NOTE
During usage, the interior of the dehydration chamber may get coated with a fine layer of volatile components of the food and drops of juices. To avoid the growth of harmful germs and an unpleasant colour within the dehydration chamber, you should clean all used parts of the appliance after each usage.
- If required, cancel operation via the "Star/Stop" button, wait until the fan stops working audibly (10 seconds), and switch off via the on/off switch at the rear (position "O"). Then unplug the appliance. Remove all food trays from the dehydration chamber and remove your food from the food trays. Let the appliance cool down to room temperature with the door of the appliance left open.
- Damp a cloth with some warm dishwater, and wipe the complete housing. Thereafter, wipe with clear water and wipe dry. Leave the housing dry naturally with the door open. Wash the used inserts (food trays, plastic tablet, plastic tray, silicone muesli pan) in warm dishwater via a soft cloth. Thereafter, thoroughly rinse with clear tap water. Alternatively, you may clean these parts in an automatic diswasher.
NOTE
If there are any dried-on residues left on the inserts, soak these parts in warm dish-water for 5-10 minutes. Then wash the parts [see: step 3].
3. Wipe dry the inserts and leave them dry naturally for approx. 30 minutes.
