How to connect the DVD player to the TV?

Preferably use the supplied SCART cable for optimal quality. Plug it into the SCART socket on the player and the corresponding input on the TV. If your TV does not have SCART, use an S-Video or composite video (yellow) cable by connecting the corresponding jacks.

Why is there no picture on the screen?

Check that the TV is on the correct video input channel (often called FRONT, A/V IN or VIDEO). Make sure the player is on and the source mode is set to DISC by pressing the SOURCE button several times.

How to memorize radio stations automatically?

In Tuner mode, press the PLAY button on the device to start automatic search and memorization of FM and MW stations. You can also memorize manually by tuning to a station then pressing PROGRAM and selecting a preset number.

What to do if the remote control does not work?

Check that the batteries are correctly installed (AA type) and in good condition. Reduce the distance to the device and point directly at the infrared sensor. If the problem persists, replace the batteries.

How to play an MP3 or JPEG file on CD?

Insert the CD-R/RW containing the files. The disc menu displays on screen. Use the directional buttons to select a folder or file, then press OK to start playback. Note that only JPEG and MP3 (32-256 kbps) formats are compatible.

The sound from the rear or center speakers does not come out. Why?

Make sure surround mode is activated by pressing the SURR button to select MULTI-CHANNEL. Also check that the speakers are correctly connected to the subwoofer and that the audio source is recorded in surround sound (Dolby Digital, DTS).

How to adjust the bass and treble levels?

Press the BASS or TREBLE button on the remote control. Within 5 seconds, use the VOL+ and VOL- buttons to adjust the level (from MIN to MAX). The setting is memorized automatically.

Can I use the player to record on a VCR?

Yes, but only if the disc is not copy-protected. Connect the LINE OUT (R/L) outputs of the player to the audio inputs of the VCR. To record video, use an S-Video or composite connection between the player and the VCR.

What does the 'CHECK ANTENNA' code on the display mean?

This message appears if no radio station is detected during automatic installation. Check that the FM and MW antennas are correctly connected (FM wire antenna and MW loop antenna). Move the antennas away from the TV or other sources of interference.

How to restore factory settings?

Press STOP (■) twice to stop playback. Go to the system menu by pressing SYSTEM MENU, select PREFERENCE SETUP then DEFAULT and choose RESET. A default code is 136900 for protected options.

4 Assemble the speakers

Helpful Hints

You only need to make one video connection to your TV in order to view the DVD playback.

If your TV is not equipped with a SCART connector, connect your TV through the corresponding video connection A or B (cables not supplied).

If your TV has progressive scan function, connect your TV using Y Pb Pr (cables not supplied). Refer to page 19 in the user manual for "Switching to YUV video output setting" before use.

Playing a disc

Make sure your DVD system and TV are connected and turned on!

1 Press SOURCE on the remote control until "DISC" appears on the display panel.

The DISC LED on the remote will light up for a few seconds.

2 Turn on the TV and select the correct Video In mode.

You should see the blue DVD background screen on the TV (if no disc in the DVD system).

3 Press OPEN/CLOSE at the top of the DVD system and load a disc, then press OPEN/CLOSE again to close the disc tray.

Make sure the disc label is facing up. For double-sided discs, load the side you want to play face up.

4 Playback will start automatically.

If a disc menu appears, use buttons on the remote to make the necessary selection, then press OK to confirm. Or, use the numeric keypad on the remote to select features. Follow the instructions given in the disc menu.

5 To stop playback, press STOP.

Refer to chapters "Getting Started" and "DVD Setup Menu Options" in the user manual.

No picture?

Check the AV (Audio/Video) mode on your TV.

• Usually this channel is between the lowest and highest channels and may be called FRONT, A/V IN, or VIDEO.
• Or, you may go to channel 1 on your TV, then press the Channel down button repeatedly until you see the Video In channel.
• Or, your TV remote control may have a button or switch that chooses different video modes.
• See your TV manual for more details.

No sound from rear speakers?

Press SURR to select 'MULTI-CHANNEL'.

Enhance the sound quality?

Press SOUND to select a predefined digital

sound effect.
