Use these operating instructions and the Speed Queen Handbook to Better Automatic Washing which provides the necessary information on sorting, pre-treating, detergents and other things you should know to get best washing results.

Before using washer, make sure the three pronged washer cord is plugged into a properly grounded, 115 volt electrical outlet, that washer hoses are connected to hot and cold water faucets, and that faucets are turned on. Be sure the drain hose is not kinked and is inserted into a drain receptacle. See Installation Instructions for details of proper washer installation.

TO WASH CLOTHES

1 Sort clothes into loads of similar fabrics, color and soil. Pre-treat or soak heavy or special stains.

2 Load clothes loosely into tub up to the top of the agitator vanes for a full load. The bulk of the clothes rather than the pounds will determine load size.

3 Add measured detergent to the front part of the load. See Handbook and package directions for brand being used.

4 Set temperature control. One control provides a choice of wash and rinse water temperatures in five combinations.

Always use COLD rinse when washing durable press garments in the DUR-ABLE PRESS cycle.

5 Set action control. One control provides a choice of agitator action and spin speed in two combinations.

See Washing Chart for suggested use, page 9.

All settings may be changed at any time during the washer operation.

NORMAL FAST GENTLE SLOW SPIN AGITATE ACTION

6 To Set: With timer knob pushed IN, turn slowly to the right so the red indicator is at the desired setting as follows:

NORMAL CYCLE

EXTRA FILL — Five minute fill. USE ONLY IF WATER PRESSURE IS SO LOW THAT TUB DOES NOT FILL AT LARGE SETTING.

LARGE — Four minute fill — 14 gallons water — full tub. Use for regular size loads and lint shedding loads.

MEDIUM — Three minute fill — 10½ gallons water — ¾ tub.

SMALL — Two minute fill — 7 gallons water — 12 tub.

DURABLE PRESS CYCLE

Set for LARGE, MEDIUM or SMALL as above. Use LARGE for all durable press loads.

Make sure the clothes are covered by water.

7 To Start Washer: Pull timer knob OUT. Close loading door or washer will not spin. Washer will complete the cycle automatically and will stop at the nearest OFF position. Push timer knob IN and remove clothes.

THE WASHER WILL STOP (PAUSE) FOR ONE MINUTE BEFORE THE WASH AND RINSE SPIN. DO NOT TURN THE TIMER THROUGH THESE PAUSES. THEY ARE PART OF THE CYCLE.
