Important

Axisdevicessendtheinitiallysetpasswordincleartextoverthenetwork.Toprotectyourdeviceafterthefirstlogin,setupasecureandencryptedHTTPSconnectionandthenchangethepassword.

The device password the primary protection for the data and services. Axis devices do not impose a password policy as they may be used in various types of installations. Top to protect your data were recommend that you:

• Changethedefaultpasswordthatcomeswiththedevices.
• Useapasswordwithatleast8characters,preferablycreatedbyapasswordgenerator.
• Don'texposethepassword.
• Changepasswordatarecurringinterval, atleastonceayear.

Howtodisplaythepanortiltpositionasatextoverlay

It maybe useful to retrieve, for instance from are recorded video, the panortilt position in degrees in which an event hastaken place. This can be obtained by including the position in the image as atext overlay, using aso-called modifier.

1. GotoSettings>Overlay.
2. Inthetextfield, enter # × to show the pan position.
   Enter#ytoshowthetiltposition.
3. Choosealignment, textsize and appearance.
4. Include the text overlay.
5. The current span and tilt position show up in the live view image and in therecording.

Note

H.264isalicensedtechnology.TheAxisproductincludesoneH.264viewingclientlicense.Installingadditionalunlicensed copiesoftheclientisprohibited.Topurchaseadditionallicenses,contactyourAxisreseller.

H.264can, without compromising imagequality, reduce the sizeof digital video file by more than 80% compared to the Motion JPEG format and by smallest 50% compared to the MPEG-4 standard. This means that less network bandwidth and storage space are required for a video file. Or seen another way, higher video quality can be achieved for given bitrate.

H.265orMPEG-HPart2/HEVC

The event pages allow you to configure your product to perform actions when different events occur. For example, the product can start are recording or send an email notification when motion is detected. Howtoautomaticallyzoominonaspecificareawithgatekeeper

This example explains how to set the gatekeeper functionality to make the camera zoom in automatically on the license plate of a car that passes through a gate. When the car has passed, the camera zooms out to the home position.

Shockdetectionallowsthecameratodetecttamperingcausedbyvibrationorshock.Vibrationcausedbytheenvironmentoran objectcantriggeranactiondependingontheshocksensitivityrange,whichcanbesetfrom0to100.Inthisscenario,someoneis throwingrocksatthecameraduringafterhoursandyouwouldliketoreceiveavideoclipoftheevent.

- Several applications can run at the same time but some applications might not be compatible with each other. Certain combination of applications might require to much processing power or memory resources when run in parallel. Verify that the applications work together before deployment.

Troubleshooting

Important

Resettofactorydefaultshouldbeusedwithcaution.Aresettofactorydefaultresetsallsettings,includingtheIPaddress,to thefactorydefaultvalues.

Toresettheproducttothefactorydefaultsettings:

1. Releasethepowerbuttonbutcontinuetoholldownthecontrolbuttonfor15-30secondsuntilthestatusLEDindicatorflashesamber.
2. Releasethecontrolbutton.
3. The process is now complete. The product has been reset to the factory default settings. If no DHCP server is available on thenetwork, the default1Paddress is 192.168.0.90
4. Using the installation and management software tools, assign an IP address, set the password and access the video stream.

It's also possible to reseparameters for default via the web interface. Go Settings System Maintenance and clickDefault.

Howtocheckthecurrentfirmware

Firmwareisthesoftwarethatdeterminesthefunctionalityofnetworkdevices.Oneofyourfirstactionswhentroubleshootinga problemshouldbetocheckthecurrentfirmwareversion.Thelatestversionmaycontainacorrectionthatfixesyourparticular problem.

Problemsupgradingthefirmware

FirmwareupgradefailureIfthefirmwareupgradefails,theproductreloadsthepreviousfirmware.Themostcommonreasonisthatthewrongfirmwarefilehasbeenuploaded.Checkthatthenameofthefirmwarefilecorrespondstoyourproductandtryagain.
ProblemssettingthelPaddress
Theproductislocatedona differentsubnet	IfthelPaddressintendedfortheproductandthelPaddressofthecomputerusedtoaccessthe productarelocatedondifferentsubnets,youcannotsetthelPaddress.Contactyournetwork administratorortoobtainanlPaddress.
ThelPaddressisbeingused byanotherdevice	DisconnecttheAxisproductfromthenetwork.Runthepingcommand(inaCommand/DOS window,typepingandthelPaddressoftheproduct):Ifyoureceive:Replyfrom:bytes=32;time=10... thismeansthatthelPaddressmayalreadybeinusebyanotherdeviceonthenetwork. ObtainanewlPaddressfromthenetworkadministratorandreinstalltheproduct.Ifyoureceive:Requesttimedout,thismeansthatthelPaddressisavailable forusewiththeAxisproduct.Checkallcablingandreinstalltheproduct.

Performanceconsiderations

Whensettingupyour system, it is important to consider how various settings and situations affect the performance. Some factors affect the amount of bandwidth (the bitrate) required, others can affect the framerate, and some affect both. If the load on the CPU reaches its maximum, this also affects the framerate.

The following factors are them most important to consider:

• Highimageresolutionorlowercompressionlevelsresultinimagescontainingmoredatawhichinturnaffectsthe bandwidth.
• AccessbylargenumbersofMotionJPEGorunicastH.264clientsaffectsthebandwidth.
• Simultaneousviewingofdifferentstreams(resolution, compression)bydifferentclientsaffectsbothframerateand bandwidth.

Use identical streams wherever possible to maintain a high framerate. Stream profile can be used to ensure that streams are identical.

• AccessingMotionJPEGandH.264videostreamssimultaneouslyaffectsbothframerateandbandwidth.
• Heavyusageofeventsettingsaffectstheproduct'sCPUloadwhichinturnaffectstheframerate.
• UsingHTTPSmayreduceframerate, inparticularifstreamingMotionJPEG.
• Heavynetworkutilizationduetopoorinfrastructureaffectsthebandwidth.
• Viewingonpoorlyperformingclientcomputerslowersperceivedperformanceandaffectsframerate.
