Comment utiliser la sonde AT8L pour identifier une paire de câbles ?

Connectez les fils du générateur de tonalité aux deux conducteurs de la paire. Placez le générateur en mode tonalité. Appuyez sur le bouton ON/OFF de la sonde et maintenez-le enfoncé. Approchez la pointe de la sonde du câblage : le son est le plus fort sur la paire recherchée. Pour confirmer, séparez les deux fils de la paire : le signal est fort sur chaque fil et s'annule entre eux.

Quelle pile utiliser pour la sonde AT8L ?

Utilisez une pile 9 V de type NEDA 1604, JIS 006P ou IEC 6LR61. L'autonomie nominale est d'environ 50 heures.

Comment régler le volume sur la sonde AT8L ?

Tournez la molette de réglage du volume située sur le côté de la sonde. Augmentez le volume pour surmonter le bruit ambiant, diminuez-le pour réduire les interférences comme le ronflement secteur.

Puis-je utiliser un casque avec la sonde AT8L ?

Oui, la sonde est équipée d'une prise casque 3,5 mm stéréo. Branchez un casque avec une impédance d'au moins 8 Ω pour une écoute discrète.

Comment changer la pile de la sonde AT8L ?

Éteignez l'appareil. Retirez la vis du couvercle du compartiment à pile, puis le couvercle. Remplacez la pile en respectant la polarité. Remettez le couvercle et la vis sans trop serrer.

La sonde AT8L est-elle étanche ?

Non, elle n'est pas étanche. Ne l'exposez pas à la pluie ou à l'humidité. Un contact avec des circuits sous tension peut provoquer des blessures graves ou la mort.

Comment nettoyer la sonde AT8L ?

Essuyez-la périodiquement avec un chiffon humide et un détergent doux. N'utilisez pas de produits abrasifs ou de solvants qui pourraient endommager le boîtier.

Puis-je remplacer la pointe de la sonde ?

Oui, la pointe est remplaçable. Éteignez l'appareil, retirez les deux vis du boîtier, séparez soigneusement les deux moitiés sans forcer sur les fils, remplacez la pointe, puis reassemblez le boîtier sans trop serrer les vis.

Que faire si la sonde ne fonctionne pas ?

Vérifiez d'abord que la pile est en bon état et correctement installée. Si le problème persiste, contactez le service client Tempo pour une réparation. N'essayez pas de réparer l'appareil vous-même.

Description

The 200B-G and 200EP-G Tone Probes, when used in conjunction with any Tempo tone generator, are designed to identify and trace wires or cables within a group without damaging the insulation.

Purpose of this Manual

This instruction manual is intended to familiarize all personnel with the safe operation and maintenance procedures for the Tempo 200B-G and 200EP-G Tone Probes.

Keep this manual available to all personnel.

Operation

1. Connect the leads of a Tempo tone-sending test set (e.g. 77HP) as follows:

a. Pair Identification, to the two wires of the pair.

See Figure 2a.

b. Single Conductor/Cable Tracing: Connect the RED lead to the subject wire and the BLACK lead to earth or ground. See Figure 2b.

Note: Refer to the instruction manual provided with the tone generator for more details.

1. Place the test set in the TONE position.
2. To activate the probe, press and hold the ON/OFF button. This button must remain depressed to operate. Hold the tip of the probe near the tone generator and listen for the tone. This verifies that the tone generator is working and identifies the sound of the tone (steady, warbling, etc.).
3. Once activated, the volume control can be adjusted to suit the environment. Reception can be increased to overcome noise (e.g., vehicular traffic, airplanes, or engine room) or decreased to reduce interference (e.g., computer/data hum or AC buzz).
4. The 200EP-G is equipped with recessed terminal ports for connecting a lineman's handset. Attaching the handset in TALK mode automatically activates the amplifier.
5. Touch the tip of the probe to the insulation of each conductor. Reception of tone will be loudest on the subject wire and detection may be improved by separating the wires from the group. If more than one pair or single conductor is carrying the tone, decrease the volume until only the subject conductor is left with tone, ensuring that positive identification has been made.
6. When pair tracing, in order to confirm that the correct pair has been identified, separate the two wires. The signal will be as loud on each of the pair wires and will NULL halfway between the two wires.
7. On the 200EP-G, press the ON/OFF button further to its second position to turn the flashlight ON. Reduce pressure slightly to turn it back OFF.

Note: To use the 200EP-G without pressing the ON/OFF button, connect a jumper, a telephone test set (in TALK mode), or headset to the recessed tabs near the speaker.

Maintenance

Battery Replacement

1. Turn the unit off.

2. Remove the screw and then the battery cover.

3. Replace the battery (observe polarity).
4. Replace the battery cover and the screw.
   DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN SCREW.

Tip Replacement

1. Turn the unit off.
2. Remove the two slotted screws and CAREFULLY separate the two halves of the housing. Do not strain the exposed wire leads.
3. Replace the tip.
4. Re-assemble the housing. DO NOT OVERTIGHTEN SCREWS.

Cleaning

Periodically wipe with a damp cloth and mild detergent; do not use abrasives or solvents.
