1. IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
- The thermometer is suitable exclusively for measurement of the body temperature!
The minimum measurement time until the signaling tone [beep] must be maintained without exception! - The thermometer contains small parts (battery, etc.) that can be swallowed by children. Keep the thermometer out of the reach of children.
- Damage may occur if the thermometer is dropped or by striking on a hard surface.
- Avoid ambient temperatures above 55^ . NEVER boil the thermometer!
- Use only the commercial disinfectants listed in the section «cleaning and disinfecting» to clean the thermometer. The thermometer must be intact when immersed in liquid disinfectant.
- Warning: The thermometer contains a long-life battery. The symbol in the right bottom corner shows on the display to indicate the battery needs to be changed. Open the battery compartment 4 by pulling the colored top firmly. Gently pull out the circuit board with battery compartment approximately 1cm . Remove the cross tip screw by turning counter clockwise and remove the battery. Replace the used battery with a new one paying attention to the "+" symbol on the battery which must be exposed when positioned. For disposal, please comply with local regulations for special waste.
- OMRON recommends that the accuracy is verified every two years by OMRON's representative.
- Do not carry out repairs of any kind yourself. If a defect occurs, consult the OMRON distributor or Customer Services as mentioned on the packaging.
- Remove the battery when the thermometer will not be used for 3 months or more.
2. SWITCHING ON
Press the on/off button 3 A short beep-signal sounds, the device is on.
All symbols show on the LCD display for a few seconds as a means of checking that the thermometer is functioning correctly. If available the last correctly measured temperature is displayed indicated by the "M" symbol. After this the device is ready for measurement indicated by a flashing "oC" symbol and a flashing "L" at an ambient temperature of less than 32^ .
2a. For changing between Fahrenheit and Celsius indication: Keep the on/off button ③ pressed for approximately 4 seconds after switching on the unit.
3. HOW TO USE THE THERMOMETER
Position the sensor-tip 1n the preferred place of measurement - mouth, rectum or armpit.
In the mouth (oral)
Position the thermometer under the tongue. The measuring sensor must be in good contact with the tissue. Close your mouth and breath evenly through the nose to prevent the measurement from being influenced by inhaled/exhaled air. Approx. measuring time: 1 - 1.5 minute. Normal temperature between 35.7^ and 37.3^ .
In the anus (rectal)
This is the most reliable measuring method, and is especially appropriate for infants and small children. Carefully insert the tip of the thermometer 2 to 3cm into the anal aperture. Approx. measuring time 1 minute.
Normal temperature between 36.2^ and 37.7^ .
In the armpit (axillary)
From a medical viewpoint, this method will always provide inaccurate readings, and should not be used if precise measurements are required. Approx. measuring time: 1.5 - 2 minutes. Normal temperature between 35.2^ and 36.7^ .
If the signaling tone (beep-beep-beep-beep) sounds 4 times and the «C» is no longer flashing, this means that the measurement is finished and that the thermometer is ready for reading.
Warning! To prolong the life of the battery, turn it off after use by pressing the operating button briefly. Otherwise the thermometer will automatically turn off after about 10 minutes.
4. CLEANING AND DISINFECTING
OMRON recommends to wipe the device with damp cloth. For disinfection, 70% Ethanol or Isopropyl alcohol can be used. Do not attempt to disinfect the sensing section of the thermometer by immersing in alcohol or in hot water (water over 50^ ).
Do not submerge deeper than 15cm and longer than 30 minutes.
Caution
The tip of the thermometer contains Nickel.

This may result in incorrect operation of the unit and create a potentially unsafe situation. Recommendation is to keep a minimum distance of 7m . Verify correct operation of the device in case the distance is shorter.
Further documentation in accordance with EN60601-1-2:2001 is available at OMRON Healthcare Europe at the address mentioned in this instruction manual.
