The SANYO TLS-9924P has two security lock systems to protect the device:

Quick Lock

This simple system prevents accidental stopping of the ongoing recording. Hold down the SHIFT « button and press the REC/PLAY SPEED j (decrease) button. The ö indicator will appear on the digital display to confirm activation. All controls will be disabled except for the one to cancel it. To disable the quick lock, hold down the SHIFT « button again and press REC/PLAY SPEED l (increase). The ö indicator will disappear. You can also cancel this lock by pressing the ALL RESET button.

4-Digit Code Lock

This more robust system protects the device against unauthorized use. First, press the SECURITY LOCK button. The digital display will show ----. Use the JOG dial to select each digit of your code (0 to 9). After selecting each digit, turn the SHUTTLE ring clockwise to move to the next digit. Repeat this for all 4 digits of your code. Once the 4th digit is entered, turn the SHUTTLE ring clockwise to confirm and activate the lock. The ö indicator will appear on the digital display.

To unlock the device

Press any button. The ö indicator will blink for 3 seconds, then the display will show ----. You have 7 seconds to enter your 4-digit code using the same procedure as above. When the 4th digit is entered and you turn the SHUTTLE ring clockwise, the lock is deactivated and the ö indicator disappears. If the code is incorrect, the device returns to its initial state.

Note: These two locking systems protect the device against accidental or unauthorized operations. They do not filter the content of video tapes.
