The SPHERO SP-R2D2 robot does not have a physical power button. The device is fully controlled via the Sphero mobile app and can only be turned off through this method.

To turn off the robot via the app:

Open the Sphero app on your smartphone or tablet (compatible with iOS and Android)
Ensure that the R2-D2 is properly connected via Bluetooth
Access the app settings (usually represented by a gear icon or menu)
Select the “Power Off” or “Turn Off” option to completely stop the robot

Robot standby modes: If you simply close the app without actively turning off the robot, the R2-D2 will enter Standby mode and its LEDs will gradually turn off. In this state, power consumption is reduced but the battery continues to discharge slowly.

Automatic shutdown: If the robot remains inactive for an extended period without use, it will automatically turn off to preserve its built-in lithium-ion battery. This is the default behavior of the SP-R2D2's power management system.
