How do I install the Master Lock 8279 mounting bracket on my bike?
Choose the appropriate set of 2 screws from the 3 provided. Mount the bracket to the bike frame or seat post at a location with diameter between 28 and 35 mm. Use the included PVC pads to prevent scratching. See images in the manual for straight or side mounting.
Can the bracket fit other tube sizes?
The bracket is designed for tube diameters of 28 to 35 mm. It may not fit smaller or larger tubes securely. For best fit, measure your bike frame or seat post before installation.
How do I attach the lock to the bracket?
Push the button on the lock bracket, then insert the lock using the shackle sleeve until it clicks securely into place. To release, push the button again and pull the lock out.
What is the best way to secure my bike with this lock?
Always lock your bike to a fixed, immovable object. Pass the lock through the frame and at least one wheel. Avoid letting the lock rest on the ground, as thieves can leverage it. Park in well-lit, busy areas.
Is the lock weather-resistant?
Master Lock padlocks are designed to withstand outdoor conditions, but prolonged exposure to rain or salt may affect performance. Regularly lubricate the keyway with graphite or a silicone-based lubricant.
Can I use this lock on other items besides bikes?
Yes, the lock itself is a standard padlock and can be used on sheds, lockers, or gates. The included mounting bracket is specifically for bikes.
What should I do if I lose the key?
Master Lock offers a key replacement program. Note the key code (if available) or contact Master Lock customer support with your lock's serial number. You may need to provide proof of purchase.
Are replacement screws or PVC pads available?
Yes, spare parts can be ordered from Master Lock. Contact their customer service or visit the website www.masterlock.eu for more information.
Is the 8279 lock keyed alike with other Master Lock products?
Typically, Master Lock padlocks are keyed differently. However, some models can be rekeyed or ordered keyed alike. Check with your retailer or Master Lock directly.
How should I clean and maintain the lock?
Wipe the lock and bracket with a damp cloth to remove dirt. Do not use harsh chemicals. Lubricate the keyhole and shackle annually with graphite or a silicone spray to ensure smooth operation.
