Frequently Asked Questions - W501 OPTOMA

How to turn the projector on and off?
To turn on, plug in the power cord and press the Power button (⏻) on the projector or remote. Wait about 1 minute for warm-up. To turn off, press ⏻ once, then confirm by pressing again. The fans will continue running during cooling. Do not unplug immediately.
How to connect a computer to the projector?
Use the provided VGA cable: connect one end to the computer's D-Sub output and the other to a VGA1/YPbPr or VGA2/YPbPr input on the projector. If no image appears, activate the external video output on your computer (often via Fn + CRT/LCD key).
How to adjust image size and sharpness?
Turn the zoom ring to adjust size, and the focus ring for sharpness. Use the front and rear adjustment feet for height and leveling. The V Keystone function in the DISPLAY menu corrects vertical distortion.
What to do if the remote control does not work?
Check that the batteries are properly installed (AAA) and not depleted. Ensure no obstacles block the IR sensor (front or rear). Move away from fluorescent lights or direct sunlight. If the problem persists, use the projector's control panel.
How to replace the projector lamp?
Caution: wait at least 45 minutes after shutdown for the lamp to cool. Unplug the power cord. Open the top cover, then the lamp cover. Loosen the screws, remove the old lamp by the handle. Insert the new one, tighten the screws, close. Reset the lamp counter in the menu OPTIONS > Lamp Settings > Lamp Reset.
How to clean or replace the dust filter?
The filter is located at the rear of the projector. Pull it out from underneath to remove it. Clean it with a small vacuum. If torn, replace it. It is recommended to clean it every 500 hours. In the menu, go to OPTIONS > Filter Optional Settings to indicate whether a filter is installed and reset the counter.
How to use the projector in 3D?
Ensure you have a compatible 3D source (HDMI, etc.). In the DISPLAY > Three Dimensions menu, enable 3D Mode (choose DLP Link or IR according to your glasses). Select the appropriate 3D Format (SBS, Top and Bottom, etc.). If the image is inverted, use 3D Sync Invert.
How to connect the projector to a LAN network?
Connect an RJ45 cable to the RJ-45 port on the projector and to your router. In the menu SETTINGS > Network > LAN Settings, enable DHCP to obtain an IP address automatically. Note the displayed IP address. You can then control the projector via a web browser by entering this IP address.
How to password protect the projector?
In the menu SETTINGS > Security > Security, select On. Set a 4-digit password (default 1234). You can also set a Clock Security to limit usage time. If you forget the password, contact your support center.
The projected image is unstable or flickering, what to do?
For a VGA source, press the Re-SYNC button on the projector or remote to resynchronize. If the problem persists, go to IMAGE > Advanced > Signal and adjust the Tracking and Phase settings until stable.
