Frequently Asked Questions - AVENT SCD291 PHILIPS

How do I pair the parent unit with the baby unit?
Ensure both units are powered on. On the parent unit, go to menu and select 'Pair' or 'Add Camera'. Press the pair button on the baby unit (usually on the back). The units will connect automatically. Refer to the user manual for specific steps.
What is the maximum range of the monitor?
The indoor range is up to 50 meters, and outdoor range up to 300 meters in open air. Walls and obstacles may reduce the range.
How can I clean the baby monitor?
Use a soft, dry cloth to wipe the units. Do not use water, solvents, or abrasive cleaners. Avoid getting moisture into the openings.
Why is the parent unit not receiving video?
Check that both units are powered on and within range. Ensure the baby unit is not obstructed. Try re-pairing the units. If the issue persists, reset both units.
How do I activate the night vision?
Night vision activates automatically in low-light conditions. The infrared LEDs will turn on, and the screen switches to black and white for clear viewing.
Can I use the monitor without the parent unit?
No, the baby unit requires the parent unit to view video. You can use the parent unit as a standalone audio monitor, but video requires both.
How long does the parent unit battery last?
The parent unit battery lasts approximately 4-6 hours with normal use. The screen brightness and audio volume affect battery life.
Is the monitor secure from interference?
Yes, it uses 2.4 GHz FHSS technology with automatic channel hopping to minimize interference from other devices. It also uses encryption to prevent unauthorized access.
What does the out-of-range alarm mean?
The out-of-range alarm sounds when the parent unit moves beyond the effective range of the baby unit. Move closer to restore the connection.
Can I add multiple cameras to this monitor?
No, the Philips AVENT SCD291 supports only one baby unit per parent unit. For multi-camera setups, consider the SCD630 or similar models.

For your child's safety and health

Warning!

- Always use this product with adult supervision. - Never use feeding teats as a sonther.

- Continuous and prolonged sucking of fluids will cause tooth decay.

- Always check food temperature before feeding. - Heating in a microwave oven may produce localised high temperatures. Take extra care when you heat up food in a microwave. Always stir heated food to ensure even heat distribution and test the temperature before serving.

- Keep all components not in use out of the reach of children.

- Do not allow child to play with small parts or walk/run while using bottles or cups.

- Do not place in a heated oven.

- Drinks other than milk and water, such as fruit juices and flavored sugary drinks are not recommended. If used, they should be well diluted and only used for limited periods.

- Do not use abrasive cleaning agents or anti-bacterial cleaners. Do not place components directly on surfaces that have been cleaned with anti-bacterial cleaners.

- Expressed breast milk can be stored in sterilized Philips Avent bottles/containers in the refrigerator for up to 48 hours (not in the door) or in the freezer for up to 3 months. Never refreeze breast milk or add fresh breast milk to already frozen milk.

- Plastic material properties may be affected by sterilizing and high temperatures. This can affect the fit of the cap.

- Always check the temperature of the food before you feed your baby.

- Do not use handles with glass bottles.

- Throw away any part at the first signs of damage or weakness.

- Do not alter the product or parts of it in any way. This may result in unsafe functioning of the product.

Before first use

- Before first use, disassemble all parts, clean and sterilise the product.

- Clean to ensure hygiene by washing and rinsing all parts thoroughly.

- Sterilise by using a Philips Avent sterilizer or boil all parts for 5 minutes. This is to ensure hygiene.

- During sterilising with boiling water, prevent the bottle or other parts from touching the side of the pan. This can cause irreversible product deformation or damage that Philips cannot be held liable for.

- Inspect the bottle and feeding teat before each use and pull the feeding teat in all directions. Throw away at the first signs of damage or weakness of any part.

Cleaning

- After every use, take all items apart, wash in warm soapy water and rinse thoroughly. Make sure that you wash your hands thoroughly and that the surfaces are clean before contact with sterilised components.

- Excessive concentration of detergents may eventually cause plastic components to crack. Should this occur, replace immediately.

- Do not leave in disinfectant (‘sterilising solution’) for longer than recommended, as this may weaken the teat. Do not place in a heated oven.

- Clean all parts before each use. - Dishwasher safe. Food colorings may discolor components.

Assembly

- When you assemble the bottle, make sure you place the cap vertically onto the bottle so that the teat sits upright (see image for more details). To remove the cap, place your hand over the cap and your thumb in the dimple of the cap. The teat is easier to assemble if you wriggle it upwards instead of pulling it up in a straight line. Make sure you pull the teat through until its lower part is even with the screw ring.

Maintenance

- Before each use, inspect all items. Pull the feeding teat in all directions. Throw away any part at the first signs of damage or weakness.

- For hygiene reasons, we recommend replacing teats after 3 months.

- When not in use, do not leave in sunlight or heat. Do not place in a heated oven

Glass natural bottle

- Glass bottles may break. Do not use metal inside the bottle to stir contents or for cleaning. This can damage the glass on the inside of the bottle. Before each use, inspect bottles for sharp edges or glass fragments inside. Do not use bottles if there are any cracks on or glass fragments in the bottle. Do not let babies drink unsupervised with this bottle. Do not use handles with glass bottles.

Choosing the right teat for your baby

The Philips Avent teats are available with different flow rates to help your baby with drinking. Over time you can change the teat accommodating the individual needs of your baby. Philips Avent teats are clearly numbered on the side to indicate flow rate (see image). Make sure you use a teat with the correct flow rate when you feed your baby. Use a lower flow rate if your baby chokes, is leaking milk or has trouble adjusting to the drinking speed. Use a higher flow rate if your baby falls asleep during feeding, gets frustrated or when feeding takes a very long time.
