Frequently Asked Questions - RHHT1004BLA RUSSELL HOBBS

How do I wash the electric blanket?
First, disconnect the controller from the blanket. The blanket can be hand washed or machine washed on a gentle cycle at 30°C. Use mild detergent. Do not tumble dry; hang or lay flat to dry. Never dry clean or iron.
Can I leave the blanket on all night?
The blanket is equipped with an auto shut-off feature that turns off after 9 hours for safety. However, for energy saving and safety, it is recommended to use the preheat function and turn off before sleeping.
What should I do if the blanket does not heat up?
Check that the controller is firmly connected to the blanket and the power cord is plugged into a working outlet. Ensure the controller is set to a heat setting above 0. If still not working, contact Russell Hobbs customer service.
Is the blanket safe to use with an extension cord?
It is recommended to plug the blanket directly into a wall outlet. If an extension cord is necessary, use a heavy-duty cord rated for the power consumption (minimum 10A). Avoid coiling the cord.
Can I use the blanket on a memory foam mattress?
Yes, the blanket can be used on memory foam. Ensure the blanket is spread flat and not bunched up. The low voltage and overheat protection make it safe for most mattress types.
How do I store the blanket when not in use?
Allow the blanket to cool completely. Roll it loosely (do not fold sharply) and place in a dry, cool area. Avoid placing heavy items on top. Store the controller separately.
What are the different heat settings?
The controller offers multiple heat levels, typically from 1 (low) to 6 (high). A preheat setting may also be available for quickly warming the bed before sleep.
How long is the power cord?
The power cord is approximately 2.0 meters long, allowing flexibility in placement near a power outlet.
Can the blanket be used on a sofa or chair?
The blanket is designed for beds. Using on sofas or chairs may cause overheating if the blanket is bunched or covered. Always use flat and avoid trapping heat.
Where can I find the user manual for RHHT1004BLA?
The user manual is available for free download on notice-facile.com. You can also request a translated version by providing your email and desired language on the product page.

ELECTRICAL SAFETY

THIS APPLIANCE MUST BE PLUGGED INTO AN EARTHED SOCKET

  • Before switching on, make sure that the voltage of your electricity supply is the same as that indicated on the rating plate. This product is designed to operate on 220 – 240V AC; 50Hz. Connection to any other power source may damage the unit.
  • This product may be fitted with a non re-wireable plug. If it is necessary to change the fuse in the plug, the fuse cover must be refitted. If the fuse cover becomes lost or damaged, the plug must not be used until a suitable replacement is obtained.
  • If the plug has to be changed because it is not suitable for your socket, or becomes damaged in any way, it should be cut off and an appropriate plug should be fitted. This should be carried out by a qualified electrician. The plug removed must be disposed of safely, as insertion into a 13 Amp socket is likely to cause an electrical hazard.

USING YOUR ELECTRIC BLANKET

  1. Insert the mains plug into a suitable wall mains socket using an extension lead, if needed, to ensure that the lead is not stretched.
  2. Push the power switch to "On" to turn on the throw blanket. The default settings will be displayed as "0" as the heat setting and "1" as the timer setting.
  3. Adjust the temperature by pressing the "Temp" button; this will enable you to select a heat setting from 1-9.
  4. Adjust the timer by pressing the "Timer" button; this will enable you to choose the length of time the heated throw will operate for. Your throw can operate from 1-9, or 12 hours. After the selected time has passed, the heated throw will automatically switch off.

Note: When the display shows "H", the timer is set for 12 hours.

Note: The highest heat setting “9” should only be used for preheating; this setting is also only able to be programmed to run for 1 hour. The recommended heating setting for comfortable prolonged use is setting “4”.

Note: The lead between the controller and throw may get warm during use. This is normal and safe.

First time use

- When using your heated throw for the first time, set the heat setting to “9”, and the timer setting to “1”. This will remove any humidity and alleviate any odours present from the manufacturing process.

USING YOUR ELECTRIC BLANKET

Preheating

  • To preheat the throw blanket set the heat setting to "9", and the timer setting to "1".
    • After 1 hour, manually reduce the heat setting to avoid the appliance overheating.

All night use

- Electric throw blankets are perfectly safe to be used all night, however we recommend using the heat settings 1-3. These settings will provide safe and comfortable heat to sleep on all night.

Safety Protective Devices

Overheat Protection System - The system will remain dormant indefinitely as long as the throw blanket is operating in the normal temperature range. If, for any reason, the throw blanket is operated in an abnormal situation or condition which would otherwise have induced a rapid temperature rise high enough to constitute a hazard, the over heat protection should intervene by cutting off the supply current before the temperature reaches the point at which damage may occur. In the event of the over heat protection operating, the throw blanket will cease to function.

USING YOUR ELECTRIC BLANKET

Note: You may notice an odour when using the blanket for the first time, due to the insulation material. This is harmless and will subside quickly.

Note: No attempt should be made to repair the throw blanket or have it repaired locally. The switch supplied must never be replaced since the specialised components are not generally available.

The controller MUST remain uncovered during use, and the throw blanket should be kept flat when switched on and unsupervised, even for a short time.

Below are some examples of how to use your throw blanket:

• To warm the couch
• On top of you while on the bed
• Lightly wrapped around your body

However, DO NOT use your throw blanket in the below ways. These could result in the overheat protection system activating:

  • While it is folded
    • Underneath your bedding
  • While sitting on it

CLEANING AND CARE

WARNING: Electrical Shock Hazard.

Note: Before any cleaning, ensure the control is set to the "OFF" position and remove the plug from the wall socket.

Note: Do not allow the controller to come in contact with any wet solution.

Before you clean the appliance, disconnect the mains plug from the wall socket.

Detach the control

- Lift the tab on the controller attached to the plastic connector on the throw blanket, carefully pull the plug connector away from the throw blanket. The controller must NEVER be immersed in water.
