Frequently Asked Questions - AP7811 APC

How do I install the AP7811 PDU in a rack?
Mount the PDU using the included brackets and screws. Ensure the unit is securely fastened at the front and rear of the rack. Connect the input plug to a dedicated 30A circuit.
Can I monitor power usage with the AP7811?
Yes, the AP7811 has a local digital display showing current, voltage, and power. It also supports remote monitoring via SNMP or web browser when connected to your network.
What is the maximum load capacity?
The maximum total load is 24 kW at 208 V (30 A input). For 240 V, the capacity is 28.8 kW. Do not exceed the rated current.
How do I reset the PDU if it trips?
Unplug the PDU from the power source, wait 30 seconds, then reconnect. If the trip persists, reduce the load and check for short circuits.
Can I control individual outlets remotely?
Yes, the switched version allows you to turn on/off each outlet via the web interface or SNMP commands. This helps with remote power cycling of devices.
What network protocols does the AP7811 support?
It supports HTTP/HTTPS, SNMP v1/v2c/v3, SSH, Telnet, and DHCP. Firmware upgrades are done via TFTP or FTP.
How do I update the firmware?
Download the latest firmware from APC's website. Access the PDU's web interface, go to Administration > Firmware Update, and upload the file. Do not interrupt power during update.
What is the operating temperature range?
The AP7811 operates between 0°C and 50°C (32°F to 122°F). For reliable performance, keep ambient temperature below 40°C.
Can I daisy-chain multiple PDUs?
No, daisy-chaining is not recommended. Each PDU requires its own dedicated circuit to avoid overloading. Use separate outlets for each unit.
How do I clean and maintain the PDU?
Disconnect power before cleaning. Use a soft dry cloth to remove dust. Do not use liquids or solvents. Periodically check for loose connections.
