How to insert batteries and memory card?

Open the battery compartment on the back of the camera. Insert two AA batteries respecting the polarities (+/-). For the memory card, insert it into the slot, contacts facing inward, until it clicks. Close the compartment.

How to take a photo in Auto mode?

Turn the mode dial to AUTO. Frame your subject, press the shutter button halfway for focusing (a green frame appears), then press fully to take the photo.

How to use optical and digital zoom?

Use the Zoom T button (telephoto) to zoom in and the Zoom W button (wide angle) to zoom out. Optical zoom is 3x; beyond that, digital zoom activates automatically (up to an additional 3x).

How to record a video?

Set the mode dial to VIDEO (camcorder icon). Frame the scene, then press the shutter button to start recording. Press again to stop. Duration depends on memory capacity.

How to transfer photos to a computer?

Install the Samsung Master software from the included CD. Connect the camera to the computer using the USB cable. Turn on the camera; the PC will recognize it as a removable drive. Copy images from the DCIM folder.

How to delete images?

In playback mode, select the image to delete with the Left/Right buttons. Press the Delete button (trash icon). Confirm by selecting YES with the OK button. To delete multiple images, use the multi-select function.

What to do if the camera does not turn on?

Check that the batteries are inserted correctly and are not discharged. Replace them if necessary. Ensure the battery compartment cover is properly closed. If the problem persists, contact a Samsung service center.

How to clean the lens?

Use a soft, dry cloth (microfiber) to gently wipe the lens in circular motions. Do not use solvents or chemicals. If the lens is dirty, first blow gently to remove dust.

What types of memory cards are compatible?

The camera accepts optional SD (up to 2 GB), SDHC (up to 4 GB), and MMC (up to 1 GB) cards. The 11 MB internal memory allows storing a few images without a card.

How to set date and time?

Turn on the camera. Access the menu by pressing the Menu button. Navigate to the Settings option (gear icon) then select Date & Time. Use the Up/Down buttons to change values and confirm with OK.

Should any form of liquid or a foreign object enter the camera, do not use it. Switch off the camera, and then disconnect the power source. You must contact your dealer or Samsung Camera Service centre. Do not continue to use the camera as this may cause a fire or electric shock.

Do not insert or drop metallic or inflammable foreign objects into the camera through access points e.g. the memory card slot and battery chamber. This may cause a fire or electric shock.

Remove the battery when not planning to use the camera for a long period of time.

Otherwise the battery may leak corrosive electrolyte and permanently damage the camera's components.

Leaking, overheating, or damaged battery could result in fire or injury.

• Use battery with the correct specification for the camera.
• Do not short circuit, heat or dispose of battery in fire.
• Do not insert the battery with the polarities reversed.

Do not fire the flash while it is in contact with hands or objects. Do not touch the flash after using it continuously. It may cause burns.

Take care not to touch the lens or lens cover to avoid taking an unclear image and possibly causing camera malfunction.

Using an AC adapter that doesn't match with the camera specification may cause camera malfunction. We recommend supplied battery or exclusive rechargeable battery.

- After turning on the camera, Check whether the battery type and the camera setting set on the [Settings] > [Battery Type] menu are same.

Credit cards may be demagnetized if left near a camera case. Avoid leaving magnetic strip cards near the case.

Do not insert the memory card the wrong way round.

Be sure to format the memory card if you are using a newly purchased memory for the first time, if it contains data that the camera cannot recognise, or if it contains images captured with a different camera.

Before an important event or going on a trip, you should check the camera condition. Samsung cannot be held responsible for camera malfunctions.

PHOTO HELP GUIDE

Helps the user to learn the correct picture taking method. This includes solutions for potential problems that may occur, and enables the user to practice shooting.

PROGRAM

Selecting the program mode will configure the camera with optimal settings. You can still manually configure all functions except the aperture value and shutter speed.

PORTRAIT

Use this menu to take a picture of a person.

MANUAL

You can manually configure all functions with the aperture value and shutter speed.

SCENE

Use the menu to easily configure optimal settings for a varisty of shooting situations.

DIS

This mode will reduce the effect of camera shake and help you get a well-exposed image in dim conditions.

MOVIE CLIP

A movie clip can be recorded for as long as the available recording time.

- This deletes images stored on the memory card.
