Frequently Asked Questions - SDA1685 DAEWOO

How do I clean my Daewoo SDA1685 kettle?
Unplug the kettle and let it cool. Wipe the exterior with a soft damp cloth. Do not use abrasive cleaners. The interior can be cleaned with a descaling solution. Never immerse the kettle or base in water.
How do I descale the kettle?
Mix equal parts water and white vinegar or use a commercial descaling product. Fill the kettle to the max mark, boil, let it soak for 15-20 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary. Descaling frequency depends on water hardness.
Can I open the lid while the water is boiling?
No. WARNING: Do not open the lid during boiling to avoid scalding from steam and hot water. Wait until the kettle has switched off and the water has stopped bubbling.
What is the warranty period for the Daewoo SDA1685?
The kettle comes with a 1-year standard guarantee. By registering your purchase online at www.daewoowarrantyregistration.com within 28 days, you can extend the warranty by an additional 2 years (total 3 years). Proof of purchase is required.
How do I register the extended warranty?
Visit www.daewoowarrantyregistration.com and complete the registration form within 28 days of purchase. You will need your proof of purchase (receipt) and product model number SDA1685.
What should I do if the kettle stops boiling before the water is hot?
This usually indicates scale buildup. Decalcify the kettle (see descaling question). If the problem persists, check that the kettle is properly seated on the base and the lid is closed.
Is the kettle safe to use on an induction hob?
No. This is a cordless electric kettle with its own heating base. It should only be used on a flat, level, non-flammable surface and never on a hob or stove.
Can I immerse the kettle or base in water for cleaning?
No. Never immerse the kettle, base, cord, or plug in water or any other liquid. This poses a serious electric shock hazard. Only wipe with a damp cloth.
What type of plug and fuse does the kettle use?
It is fitted with a BS 1363 plug with a 13 Amp fuse (BS 1362). If the plug needs replacing, ensure the wiring is done correctly (Brown=Live, Blue=Neutral, Green/Yellow=Earth) and use only BSI or ASTA approved fuses.
How do I replace the scale filter?
The filter is located inside the kettle near the spout. Gently pull it out. Clean or replace it as needed. Rinse under running water or soak in vinegar. Ensure it is properly reinserted before use.
