USING YOUR SALT AND PEPPER MILLS
- Before seasoning your meals, you can adjust the fineness of the ground pepper or salt by adjusting the wheel on the bottom (underside) of the mills.
- Turn the wheel counterclockwise for a coarser grind or clockwise for a finer grind.
- While holding the pepper and/or salt mill over your meal, push the button located on top of the mill. The light function illuminates what you are seasoning and enables the precise grinding quantity.
- Place the bottom cap back on the mill when finished.
MAINTENANCE AND CLEANING
- Disassemble the different parts of the mill and clean them separately with a damp cloth.
- Do not immerse the mills in liquid or place in a dishwasher.
- Do not use cleaning products or detergents.
- Keep your salt and pepper mills away from heat or dampness.
- Peppercorn Mill Cleaning:
- Pepper has oil and with it comes buildup. When Peppercorn builds up, you must take the grinding mechanism apart. Pay close attention on how you disassemble, so when you reassemble after cleaning, you place parts back as they were. Try not to press on the grinder button while assembling back together. Once you have the four pieces apart, clean the plastic grinding pieces with a soft toothbrush and warm water. You may use a small amount of liquid dish soup. Dry and assemble back together.
- Remove cap, where spice coarseness is adjusted, unscrew coarseness knob by turning counterclockwise. Place the four pieces as they are disassembled in order of removal. Clean as instructed above. Dry and place back in order of removal.
BATTERY & TROUBLESHOOTING
- If your mill is running sluggish or is not properly operating, check batteries.
- Replace with new batteries of the same type and eliminate the old batteries in an environmentally friendly manner.
- If the mill still does not grind, check batteries are installed correctly and are not discharged.
- If the mill gets stuck during use, it will hum. The internal shaft will not turn, and no pepper will grind. Gently tap the mill or shake the mill to remove the stuck salt or pepper.
- Pepper does have oil, if your Peppermill becomes sluggish and has new batteries, it may be time for a cleaning.
- If peppercorn is deeply stuck, detach the top half of the mill along with the battery motor from the bottom as if you were refilling the mill. Turn the adjustment grind setting wheel to its coarseness setting and tap lightly on a hard surface until the stuck peppercorn is released. Use the refill opening as support. Once done, put the mill back together and adjust the coarseness to your desired level.
- If LED light fails to illuminate, issue may be that the bottom half of the mill is not locked in place. Make certain that the bottom half of the Mill is locked by aligning the black arrowhead with the lock silk screen. See Fig. A. Twist the bottom portion clockwise until it clicks.
