The heater of the rice cooker did not work at startup - then it worked after restarting. Can I continue to use it?
Frequently Asked Questions - 06/08/2026
Response Notice-Facile

The issue you are describing (heater not activating on the first startup, then functioning normally after unplugging/replugging) is generally related to an electrical contact problem or power setting caching.

What you can do:

  • Clean the metal contacts located under the pot and inside the base of the appliance with a dry cloth. A slight film of dust or moisture can prevent the heating from activating properly on the first call.
  • Test with a new power cycle: wait 30 seconds after unplugging the device before plugging it back in. This fully resets the control circuit.
  • Always use a direct wall outlet (without an extension cord if possible) to ensure stable power supply.
  • Ensure that the rice is not packed when filling. Packed rice can affect the fill detection and delay the activation of the heater.

If after these checks the problem reappears regularly, it suggests a defect in the thermal sensor or heating relay. In this case, contact PANASONIC customer service under warranty, as you have described a normal usage period (just after purchase) where the product should function flawlessly.
