Frequently Asked Questions - CHT20X DIMPLEX

How to install the Dimplex CHT20X fireplace?
The fireplace can be placed on a level surface or mounted flush to a wall. For wall mounting, drill 6mm holes as per Fig.1, insert plugs and screws leaving 10mm gap, then lower the appliance onto the screws via keyhole slots. For freestanding, use adjustable feet to level and secure with anti-tip screws if needed.
How to operate the remote control?

How to clean the glass screen?
Always unplug and cool the fireplace. Use a chamois leather to carefully clean the glass. Do not use proprietary cleaners or abrasive products.
What to do if the heater does not turn on?
Check that the appliance is plugged into a working socket and the mains switch is on. Ensure the thermal cut-out has not tripped (if so, unplug, wait 10 minutes, remove any obstructions, then reconnect). Also check the remote battery if using remote.
How to adjust the flame brightness?
Press the 'Flame Effect' button repeatedly to cycle through brightness levels: F1 (low), F2 (medium), F3 (high). Press again after F3 to activate pulsing mode for a flickering effect.
Can I use the flame effect without the heater?

The thermal safety cut-out may have tripped due to overheating, often caused by blocked heat outlets or by covering the appliance. Unplug, allow 10 minutes to cool, remove any obstructions, then reconnect. If it persists, contact Dimplex.
Are the fuel bed media included with the CHT20X?
Yes, the fireplace comes with a range of media: acrylic crystals, coals, pebbles, and logs. You can arrange them to your preference on the fuel bed for the best visual effect.

DIMPLEX CHT20X - WARNING: KEEP BATTERIES OUT OF REACH OF CHILDREN - 2

CAUTION: No obvious symptoms

Unfortunately, it is not obvious when a button or coin battery is stuck in a child's oesophagus (food pipe).

There are no specific symptoms associated with this. The child might:

• cough, gag or drool a lot;
- appear to have a stomach upset or a virus;
- be sick;
- point to their throat or stomach;

• have a pain in their abdomen, chest or throat;
- be tired or lethargic;
- be quieter or more clingy than usual or otherwise “not themselves”;
- lose their appetite or have a reduced appetite; and
• not want to eat solid food/be unable to eat solid food.

These sorts of symptoms vary or fluctuate, with the pain increasing and then subsiding.

A specific symptom to button and coin battery ingestion is vomiting fresh (bright red) blood. If the child does this seek immediate medical help.

The lack of clear symptoms is why it is important to be vigilant with “flat” or spare button or coin batteries in the home and the products that contain them.

Installation Instructions

This heater must be used on an AC \~ supply only and the voltage marked on the appliance must correspond to the supply voltage. Before switching on, please read the safety warnings and operating instructions. Please retain this user's guide for future reference

Your electric fire is designed to be used in front of a fireplace opening or placed against a wall anywhere in the room.

When installing this appliance in front of an existing fireplace opening, we recommend that an open chimney or flue is blocked off. We recommend that non-flammable materials are used to block off the chimney flue. This procedure is important for the efficient operation of the heating unit and will also reduce heat loss up the chimney.

At the rear of the appliance, two adjustable feet are provided for levelling the appliance where the fire is being installed on an uneven surface. You can adjust the foot by removing the two screws and refitting the foot in the required position.

The appliance is supplied with screws and rawl plugs to provide extra stability to prevent it from accidentally being knocked over. The rawl plug supplied is suitable for use in block walls (other wall types may need alternative rawl plugs).

To place the appliance flush to a wall please follow these instructions:

  1. Drill holes using a 6mm drill as illustrated in Fig. 1.
  2. Insert plugs and screws. Do not fully tighten screws, leave the head of the screw at least 10mm away from the wall.
  3. Place the keyhole slots on the appliance over the screws and lower into position.
    If the unit is not to be place flush to the wall, the screws can be left protuding further than 10mm and longer screws can be used as required.

Fuelbed Assembly

Models are supplied with a range of fuelbed media, which you can arrange to your preference. (Cheriton Deluxe is supplied with coal only).

Loose coals, crystals, pebbles and logs are packed separately within the carton. When the appliance is installed, place the fuelbed material on the fuelbed and arrange to your liking. We recommend the following step, in order to achieve the optimal effect.

  1. Place crystals on fuelbed, covering the top surface of the fuelbed. These will provide a glowing embers effect, when the flame effect is operating. See Fig.2 below.

If the cut-out operates, unplug the heater from the socket outlet and allow approximately 10 minutes before reconnecting. Before switching the heater back on remove any obstruction that may be restricting the heat outlet, then continue normal operation.

CAUTION: In order to avoid a hazard due to inadvertent resetting of the thermal cutout, this appliance must not be supplied through an external switching device, such as a timer, or connected to a switch that is regularly switched on and off by the utility.

Maintenance

WARNING: ALWAYS DISCONNECT FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE CLEANING THE HEATER.

Cleaning

Before commencing cleaning, unplug the heater and allow it to cool. The surfaces of the heater should be given an occasional wipe with a dry soft cloth. Do not use detergents, abrasive cleaning powder or furniture polish as this can damage the surface finish of the product.

The glass screen should be cleaned carefully with a chamois leather. Do not use proprietary cleaners.

To remove any accumulation of dust or fluff, the soft brush attachment of a vacuum cleaner should occasionally be used to clean the outlet grille of the fan heater located under the canopy.

To clean the fuel effect, remove the coal/pebbles and wash in warm water. The plastic tray should be wiped clean with a damp cloth. When dry replace the coal/pebbles and arrange for best effect.

Led Lamps

This fire is fitted with LED (Light Emitting Diode) lamps in place of traditional incandescent bulbs. These generate the same light levels as traditional bulbs, but use a fraction of the energy consumed. These lamps cannot be replaced.

CAUTION: Assembly, installation and repair of this heater must be carried out by Dimplex or its authorised agent.
