Frequently Asked Questions - KA-5080BS TRISTAR

How do I assemble the feet on the TriStar KA-5080BS heater?
Turn the heater on its side and screw the included feet onto the base using the supplied screws. Ensure the heater is placed on a stable, level surface after assembly.
What should I do if the power cord is damaged?
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent, or a similarly qualified person to avoid a hazard. Do not use the heater until repaired.
Can I use this heater in a bathroom?
No, this heater is not suitable for bathrooms, showers, or swimming pools. It must not be installed immediately below a socket outlet, and controls must not be touchable by a person in a bath or shower.
How do I set the desired temperature?
Turn the thermostat knob clockwise to the maximum setting, then select your desired heat level. When the room reaches the desired temperature, slowly turn the thermostat knob anticlockwise until you hear a click and the indicator light goes out. The heater will then maintain that temperature automatically.
Why does the heater produce a smell when first used?
A slight odor during first use is normal. It is caused by manufacturing residues burning off. Ensure adequate ventilation; the smell will disappear shortly.
Can I cover the heater with clothes or towels?
No, never cover the heater. Covering can cause overheating and fire risk. Do not place any objects on the heater, and keep curtains and other combustible materials away.
How should I clean the heater?
Before cleaning, unplug the heater and let it cool down. Clean the two air outlets (above and below) with a vacuum cleaner to remove dust. Wipe the exterior with a damp cloth. Do not use harsh cleaners, scouring pads, or steel wool.
Can I use a timer or remote control with this heater?
No, do not use a programmer, timer, separate remote-control system, or any other device that switches the heater on automatically. This poses a fire risk if the heater is covered or positioned incorrectly.
What are the safety precautions for children?
Children under 3 years must be kept away unless continuously supervised. Children aged 3 to 8 may only switch the heater on/off if it is placed in its normal operating position and they are supervised. Children under 8 must not plug in, regulate, or clean the heater. Keep the appliance and cord out of reach of children under 8.
How do I dispose of this product at the end of its life?
Do not dispose of electrical appliances with household waste. Recycle at designated WEEE collection points. Check with your local authority or store for recycling advice. The symbol on the product, manual, and packaging indicates this.
