Frequently Asked Questions - LT12560-WW LYYT

What voltage do I need for the LT12560-WW?
The LT12560-WW is a 12Vdc LED tape (check stock code 156.715UK for cool white or 156.716UK for warm white). Other colour variants are available in 12Vdc or 24Vdc. Always match the voltage to your power supply.
Can I cut the LED tape to a custom length?
Yes, you can cut the tape at the marked cut intervals. For 12V tape, cut every 5 cm; for 24V tape, every 10 cm. Use the solder points to reconnect pieces.
How do I connect multiple reels together?
You can daisy-chain reels using the 2.1mm DC jack connectors. For 12V, link up to 15 m; for 24V, up to 30 m. For longer runs, use parallel wiring to avoid voltage drop. The UV tape (156.704UK) requires separate power per reel.
What power supply do I need?
Choose a power supply with voltage matching the tape (12Vdc or 24Vdc) and current rating higher than the total required. For example, 5 m of 12V tape needs at least 2A; 10 m needs 4A. Refer to the current table in the manual.
Is the LED tape waterproof?
Yes, the tape has an IP65 rating, meaning it is protected against water jets and dust ingress. However, after cutting, you should seal the cut ends and joints with silicone glue to maintain weatherproofing.
How do I install the tape?
Clean the surface thoroughly, then peel the self-adhesive backing and press the tape onto a clean, non-porous surface. For curved or irregular surfaces, ensure firm contact. If connecting multiple sections, solder wires at the marked solder points.
Can I use a dimmer with this tape?
Yes, you can use a single-colour controller (PWM dimmer) between the power supply and the tape. Ensure the controller is rated for the total current of your installation.
What is the beam angle of this LED tape?
The beam angle is 140°, which provides a wide spread of light suitable for accent lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and general illumination.
How do I dispose of the LED tape at the end of its life?
According to WEEE regulations, do not dispose of LED tape with household waste. Take it to a local recycling centre or follow your council's guidelines for electronic waste disposal.
What should I do if the tape doesn't light up?
Check the power supply connection and voltage. Ensure the DC jack is fully inserted. For cut sections, verify solder joints are correct (+ to +, - to -). Also confirm the total current does not exceed the power supply rating.

Caution: Please read this guide carefully before installing Lyyt LED tape

Damage caused by incorrect application is not covered by the warranty

Lyyt single colour LED tape is supplied on 5m reels in either 12Vdc or 24Vdc voltages.

Installation should be carried out by competent electrical installers, observing the relevant electrical safety procedures.

Lyyt single colour LED tape has a self-adhesive backing to allow it to be easily attached to a clean, non-porous surface.

Where less than 5m of tape is needed, there are solder points as shown below, where the tape may be cut to size. These cut points will be at 5cm intervals for 12V tape and 10cm intervals for 24V tape. In order to re-connect to another length of tape after cutting, strip away the epoxy coating at the solder points and solder a wire from "+" to "+" and a wire from "-" to "-" as shown below. Some accessories are supplied with the tape reel for this purpose. In order to retain weather-proofing, it is advised to seal the cuts and joints with silicone glue.

Each 5m reel of single colour LED tape is fitted with a 2.1mm DC jack socket for power input for easy connection to a power supply. This connector may be removed and stripped for bare wire connection if a 2.1mm jack is not fitted to the power supply.

If the power supply has enough capacity to power more than one reel, another reel can be connected to the end of the first reel via the 2.1mm DC jack plug. (Except for the 12V UV tape)

For 12V single colour LED tape, it is recommended to link no more than 15m of tape in sequence. For 24V versions, up to 30m can be linked in this way. Using a separate wire to loop "+" and "-" back to the power supply will help to avoid dimming at the far end through voltage drop. To connect beyond these lengths, a parallel wire must be run from the power supply to the further reels of tape. The UV tape will require separate power supply to each 5m reel.

It is imperative that the power supply should have higher than the rated capacity in Amps (A) for the current required to power the length(s) of LED tape installed. Please see the table below for reference.
