What is the cut-out size for the Monitor Audio Trimless CWT240?

The cut-out size is 280 x 200 mm (11.0 x 7.9 inches). Use the supplied template for accurate installation.

Can the grille be painted?

Yes, the grille is paintable to match your ceiling or wall. Use a fine mist spray paint; remove the grille and paint separately.

What type of wire should I use?

Use 14-18 AWG speaker wire with appropriate connectors (banana plugs or bare wire). Max wire size: 10 AWG.

Is the speaker suitable for outdoor/outdoor use?

No, the Trimless CWT240 is designed for indoor use only. It is not weather-resistant and should not be exposed to moisture.

What amplifier do I need?

An amplifier delivering 20 to 150 watts per channel at 8 ohms is recommended. Match the impedance (8 ohms) to your amplifier.

Can I use this speaker in a bathroom or kitchen?

It is not recommended for high-moisture areas. The speaker is rated IP20 (no moisture protection). Consider special models for damp locations.

How do I install the trimless frame?

Install the provided cut-out template, cut the hole, run the wire, then fix the speaker using the clamping system. The bezel is designed to be flush with the ceiling.

Does the speaker have a power handling limit?

Yes, the speaker can handle up to 100 watts RMS (150 watts peak). Do not exceed the recommended power to avoid damage.

What is the frequency response of the Trimless CWT240?

The frequency response is 45 Hz – 30 kHz (±3 dB). For extended bass, consider adding a subwoofer.

Is the speaker magnetically shielded?

No, the Trimless CWT240 is not magnetically shielded. Keep it at least 30 cm (12 inches) away from CRT screens or magnetic media.

Prior to Fitting the Custom Install Series Speakers

CAUTION: These Custom Install loudspeakers can only be fixed into plasterboard (dry-lined) or suspended ceilings/ walls with a thickness of up to 45mm (1 ^3/4 "). Solid wall installation will require channeling out and frame work constructed to provide a structure for the Tri Grip ^* dog legs to clamp to. For safety reasons, if you are unsure of your ability to provide a secure and safe fixing, do not attempt to fix these speakers, please obtain the services of a competent and qualified trades person.

CAUTION: Ensure that there are no water pipes or electricity cables running within the wall structure before cutting the speaker apertures. Work from secure steps and avoid trailing wires.

Over Tightening Warning

ATTENTION INSTALLERS:

Do not over-tighten the Tri-Grip Dog Leg clamps. Over tightening the clamping mechanism on any in ceiling/ in wall speaker can result in damage to the speaker mounting hardware, ceiling/ wall or speaker frame, and/ or deflection in the speaker frame during installation.

If you notice any of the above during installation, you have overtightened the Tri Grip dog leg. Back off the mounting screw until deflection is reduced to allow the product to sit firmly against the ceiling / wall.

Do not exceed 5Kgf/cm (4.34 lbf/inch.) or 0.5 NM when tightening the Tri Grip dog leg screws.

When are using a cordless screwdriver/ drill to install this product ensure the clutch is set to it's lowest setting to avoid from over-tightening and damaging the mounting hardware.

Painting the Grilles

NOTE: If choosing to paint the grille, we recommend you follow these simple steps:

1. Remove the membrane scrim from the inside of the grille.
2. Paint all grilles required for the installation with the same batch of paint (if they are to be the same colour). Spray paint is easier to apply or use a stippling action when brushing to avoid blocking the holes of the grille.
3. When dry, attach the spare membrane scrim (supplied) into the inside of the grille.
4. Fit the grille to the speaker (s).

Fitting the Custom Install Loudspeakers

1 Draw around template and mark centre lines if necessary

3 Connect speaker cables by pushing down on the terminals and clamping the bare wire in the through hole.

4 Guide speaker into cut out

5 Tighten Tri-Grip screws.

6 Fit grilles. They are held in place magnetically and should 'snap' into place.

5. Do not use this apparatus with water.
6. Clean only with a dry cloth. Great care and attention has gone into the materials chosen to produce your Monitor Audio loudspeakers. A gentle wipe with a dry, clean cloth is all that is required to remove any dust. Treat them as you would a fine piece of furniture because that is how they have been designed. To clean the high gloss finishes use our "Lacquer Polish" that has been developed alongside Auto Glym. It can only be purchased from the online shop at www.monitoraudio.com (UK customers only).
7. Do not install near any heat source, such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat.
8. Only use attachments/ accessories specified by Monitor Audio.
9. Use only with the cart, stand, tripod, bracket, or table specified by monitor Audio or sold with the apparatus. When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/ apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.
10. Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel. Servicing is required when the apparatus has been damaged in any way, such as power supply cord or plug is damaged, liquid has been spilled or objects have fallen onto the apparatus, the apparatus has been exposed to rain or moisture, does not operate normally or has been dropped.
11. This apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing water and that no object filled with liquids such as vases shall be placed on the apparatus.
12. This exclamation point within an equilateral triangle is intended to alert the user to the presence of important maintenance (servicing) instructions in the literature accompanying the appliance.
13. No naked flame sources, such as lighted candles, should be placed on the apparatus.

Both the craftsmanship and the performance of this product is guaranteed against manufacturing defects for the period of five years from the date of purchase (see conditions below), provided that the product was supplied by an authorised Monitor Audio retailer under the consumer sale agreement. (The words 'consumer sale' shall be construed in accordance with section 15 of the supply of goods act 1973). Monitor Audio accepts no responsibility for defects arising from accident, misuse, abuse, wear and tear, modification or operation outside of that specified within this instruction manual.
