• Before connecting other components to this Blu-ray disc player, be sure to turn them all off.
- Do not move the Blu-ray disc player while a disc is being played, or the disc may be scratched or broken, the Blu-ray disc player internal parts may be damaged.
- Do not put a flower vase filled with water or any small metal objects on the Blu-ray disc player.
• Be careful not to put your hand into the disc tray.
• Do not place anything other than the disc in the disc tray.
- Exterior interference such as lightning and static electricity can affect normal operation of this Blu-ray disc player. If this occurs, turn the Blu-ray disc player
- off and on again with the POWER button, or disconnect and then reconnect the AC power cord to the AC power outlet. The Blu-ray disc player will operate normally.
- Be sure to remove the disc and turn off the Blu-ray disc player after use

• Disconnect the AC power cord from the AC outlet when you don't intend to use the Blu-ray disc player for long periods of time.
• Clean the disc by wiping in a straight line from the inside to the outside of the disc.
• Apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.
  • The Main plug is used as a disconnect device and shall stay readily operable at any time.

Turns the Blu-ray Player on and standby. Press STANDBY button to enter the standby mode while the set is on. It will take about 10 seconds to enter the standby mode. The light will change the colour from green to red. The set can be turned on again by pressing the STANDBY button, after this process has been completed.

These buttons are used with the GOTO button to move to a specific track on an audio CD.

These keys are used when navigating the menus on BD and DVDs. They are also used for navigating the setup menus for the BD player.

On BD disks only, this button can be used to pull up menus that are specific to the scene being played. (Not available on all disks)

Press volume + or volume - control the volume.

Pressing the play button will resume playback.

To access On Screen Control menu.

To bookmark at any point during playback.

Edit the program and play.

15. Audio

Used to enable/disable audio during disk playback.

16. Subtitle

Used to enable/disable subtitles during disk playback.

17. REPEAT

This button is used to cycle through the possible "repeat" modes. For BDs and DVDs, you can repeat the currently playing title, chapter or all. For audio CDs, you can repeat the currently playing track.

To stop playback from repeating, the REPEAT button should be pressed until nothing is shown on the TV.

18. A-B

During the normal or fast motion playback, press A-B once and "A-" will appear on the screen. This indicates the start of the loop to be repeated. Press A-B again and "A-B" will appear on the screen. It indicates the end of the loop.

Press A-B a third time to cancel playback repeat.

19. Open/Close

Press this button to open/close the disk tray.

20. Clear

When entering numeric values via the numeric keypad, this button is used to clear a number entered incorrectly.

21. Goto

This button is used with the numeric keypad to jump to a specific track on an audio CD.

22. Return

Return to previous chapter.

23. MENU

Press this to return to the DVD menu.

24. Fast Forward

Used to "Fast Forward" through a BD/DVD movie or CD audio track. Each time the button is pressed, the speed of fast forwarding will increase in the following order: ▶▶1, ▶▶2, ▶▶3, ▶▶4, ▶▶5, ▶.

25. Fast Reverse

Used to "Reverse" through a BD/DVD movie or CD audio track. Each time the button is pressed, the speed will be in the following order: ◀1, ◀2, ◀3, ◀4, ◀5, ▶.

26. Stop

This button stops playback of a BD/DVD movie or CD audio track.

27. Pause

Pressing the pause button will pause audio and video playback.

28. HDMI

Press the HDMI button repeatedly to select the best resolution the TV can support.

29. INFO

Display the information of the disk.

30. DIGEST

To access digest playback mode(Video Digest is not available now).

31. Zoom

Adjust picture size of DVD.

32. Random

Press to play the chapters of CD at random. It's invalid by pressing this button when playing BD discs.

33. Angle

Some BD and DVDs are filmed with more than one camera angle. During playback of such disks, press this button will allow you to switch camera angles.

To open/close Media Center.

35. Secondary Audio

Press this button to activate secondary Audio languages in BD disc. (note: some BD disc don't support this function.)

Prepare the remote control

Caution

- Risk of explosion! Keep batteries away from heat, sunshine or fire. Never discard batteries in fire.

1 Open the battery compartment.
2 Insert 2xAAA batteries with correct polarity (+/-) as indicated. (not included)
3 Close the battery compartment.

Note

• If you are not going to use the remote control for a long time, remove the batteries.
• Do not use old and new or different types of batteries in combination.
• Batteries contain chemical substances, so they should be disposed properly.
• The batteries shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire or the like.

Find the correct viewing channel

1 Press ⏻ to turn on this product.
2 Turn on the TV and switch to the correct video-in channel (refer to the TV user manual on how to select the correct channel).

Use the SETUP menu

Press SETUP to display the SETUP menu on the TV.

Navigate the menu

When a menu is displayed, press the buttons on the remote control to navigate.

Move up or down. Move left or right. Confirm a selection.

Select menu display language

1. Select [General Settings] in the SETUP menu.
2. Press ▲ / ▼ to select [Language] in the menu
3. Press ▶ to select [OSD], and press ▶ again to enter the select menu, then you could select the language you want.
4. Press ENTER to confirm.

Caution

• Do not place any objects other than discs into the disc compartment.
• Do not touch the disc optical lens inside the disc compartment.

1 Press ▲ to open the disc compartment.
2 Insert a disc with its label facing up.
3 Press ▲ to close the disc compartment and start disc play.

- To view disc play, turn on the TV to the correct viewing channel for this product.

• To stop disc play, press ■.

Note

• Check the types of discs supported
• If the password entry menu is displayed, enter the password before you can play the locked or restricted disc.
• If you pause or stop a disc, the screen saver appears after 3 minutes of inactivity. To deactivate the screen saver, press any button.
  • After you pause or stop a disc and no button is pressed within 9 minutes, this product automatically switches to standby.

Disc content structure

The structure of a disc content is generally divided as shown below.

• [title/chapter] (title/chapter) refers to the contents on a BD/DVD.
• [track] (track) refers to the contents on an audio CD.
- [folder/file] (folder/file) refers to the contents on a disc in MP3/JPEG format.

Display menu

BD-video disc:

POPUP/TITLE stop the video play and show the disc menu. This feature is disc-dependent. POPUP/TITLE access to the BD-video disc menu without interrupting disc play.

DVD-video disc:

POPUP/TITLE display the root menu of a disc.

TITLE display disc information and guide you through the available functions in the disc.

PROGRAM The function can be used to play selected chapter and titles in a desired sequences. Press the PROG button playing DVD/VCD/CD. (This function not support BD) Use the UP/DOWN button to highlight the desired title then use Nemeric Buttons to input the title what you want to play. To play selected chapters, use the LEFT/RIGHT key to select the PLAY and press ENTER button to start sequence playback. To remove selections from the program list, highlight and select "Clear" or press CLEAR button to delete the selected chapters.

Blu-ray video disc has a larger capacity and supports features such as high-definition videos, multichannel surround sounds, interactive menus and so on.

1 Insert a BD-video disc.
2 Play automatically starts, or select a play option in the menu and press ENTER.

- During play, you can press POPUP to display the disc menu without interrupting disc play.

Enjoy BONUS VIEW

(Applicable only to a disc compatible with the BONUS VIEW or Picture-in-Picture feature) You can instantly view additional content (such as commentaries) in a small screen window.

Enjoy BD-LIVE

(Applicable only to a disc that enables BD-Live bonus content.) Additional contents (such as movie trailers, subtitles, etc.,) can be downloaded to this product's local storage or a connected USB storage device. Special video data may be played while they are being downloaded. When the disc supporting BD-Live is played, this product or disc's ID can be sent to the content provider via the internet. Services and functions to be provided vary from discs.

MP3 is a type of highly compressed audio file (files with mp3, extensions).

1 Insert a disc that contains the MP3 music.
2 Select a muisc folder, then press ENTER.
3 Select a file to play, then press ENTER.

Note

- Press MEDIA CENTER to display the file list.

• For disc recorded in multiple sessions, only the first session is played.
  • This product does not support MP3PRO audio format.
• For any special character that is present in the MP3 track name (ID3) or album name, it might not be displayed correctly on the screen because these characters are not supported.
• Folders/files that exceed the supported limit of this product cannot be displayed or played.

Play photo

Play photo as slideshow

You can play JPEG photos (files with .jpeg or .jpg extensions). 1 Insert a disc or USB devise that contains the JPEG photos.

2 Select a photo folder, then press ENTER to enter.

• To select a photo, press the Navigation buttons.
• To enlarge the selected photo and start slideshow, press ENTER.

Note

• It may require longer time to display the disc content on the TV due to the large number of songs/photos compiled onto one disc.
• This product can only display digital camera pictures according to the JPEG-EXIF format, typically used by almost all digital cameras. It cannot display Motion JPEG, or pictures in formats other than JPEG, or sound clips associated with pictures.
• Folders/files that exceed the supported limit of this product cannot be displayed or played.

Control photo play

1 Play a photo slideshow.
2 Use the remote control to control the play.

Buttons Action

Rotate a photo anticlockwise/clockwise.

Flip a photo horizontally/vertically.

Stop play.

Note

- Some operations may not work with some discs or files.

Set slideshow interval and animation

1 During play, press OSC.
The play options menu is displayed.
2 Select a option in the menu, then press ENTER.
3 Select the option by Navigation buttons.
4 Press ENTER.

Play musical slideshow

Create a musical slideshow to play simultaneously MP3 music files and JPEG photo files.

Note

- To create a musical slideshow, you must store the MP3 and JPEG files on the same disc.

1 Play MP3 music.
2 Press Media Center to return to the main menu.
3 Navigate to enter a photo folder, then press ENTER to start slideshow play.

Slideshow begins and continues till the end of the photo folder.

Audio continues to play until the end of the disc.

• To stop the slideshow play, press ■.
  • To stop the music play, press ■ again.

Note

- If the setup option is grayed out, it means the setting cannot be changed at the current state.

Basic operation for the menu

1 Press SETUP.

2 Select a mains menu by ◀ ▶.

3 Select the menu you want to setting by ▼▲, and press ▶. • You could press▲ up to mains menu.

4 Select the option by ▼ ▲, and press ▶. • You could press ◀ to return to the previous menu.

5 Select by ▼▲, and press ENTER to confirm. • You could press ◀ to return to the previous menu.

6 To return to the mains menu from the submenu, press RETURN. 7 To exit the menu, press SETUP.

General Setting

System

1 Screen Saver: Turn on/off the screen saver. The screen saver will display in 3 mins without any operation when the function's on.

2 Disc Auto Playback: Turn on/off the disc auto playback function.

3 Load Default: Return to DEFAULT SETTING.

4 Upgrade: Select the device that you want to upgrade from.

5 Easy Setup: Select the easy setup mode.

6 Buda: Select the buda mode.

Language

1 OSD: Select the OSD language.
2 Menu: Select the menu language of the disc.
3 Audio: Select the audio language for the program.
4 Subtitle: Select the subtitle language for the program.

- You have to select the audio and subtitle language according to the disc.

Playback

1 Closed Caption: Turn on/off the Closed Caption function.

2 Angle Mark: Turn on/off the Angle Mark function.

3 PIP Mark: Turn on/off the PIP Mark function.

4 Secondary Audio...: Turn on/off the secondary audio language select.

Security

1 Parental Control: Enter to set the parental control. The password is 0000.

• Connect this product to the broadband modem or router.
• This product starts to detect if there is a connection to the network.
• If the connection test fails, select [Retry] and press ENTER to re-connect again to the network.

1 Internet Connection: Display the internet connection state.
2 Information: Display the informations of the Network.
3 Connection Test: Test the internet connection state.
4 IP Setting: Setting the IP for the product.
5 BD-Live Connecting: Set this function to Permitted, Partial permitted, Prohibited.
6Proxy Setting: Set the Proxy Setting to Disable, Enable, Proxy Host, Proxy Port.

Additional Information

Update software

For software updates to enhance performance, check the current software version of this product to compare with the latest software (if available).

1 Press SETUP.
2 Select [General Setting], then press ▶
3 Select [System] > [Upgrade], then press ENTER.

Update software via USB

1 Download the software onto a USB flash drive.
2 Insert the USB flash drive to the USB jack of the rear panel.
3 In the SETUP menu, select[General Setting] > [System] > [Upgrade] > [USB].
4 Follow the instructions on the TV screen to confirm update operation.
Once software update is complete, this product automatically turns off to standby.
6 Disconnect the power cord for a few second; and connect again to turn on this product.

Note

- Do not turn off the power or remove the USB flash drive when software updating is in progress to prevent possible damage of this product.

Care

Caution

- Never use solvents such as benzene, thinner, cleaners available commercially, or anti-static sprays intended for discs.

Clean discs

Wipe the disc with a micro fibre cleaning cloth from the centre to the edge in a straight line movement.

Troubleshooting

Warning

- Risk of electric shock. Never remove the casing of the product.

To keep the warranty valid, never try to repair the product yourself.

Main unit

No reaction to the remote control.

• Connect this product to the power outlet.
• Point the remote control at the IR sensor located on the front panel of this product.
• Insert the batteries correctly.
• Insert new batteries in the remote control.

Picture

No picture.

- See TV manual for correct video input channel selection. Change the TV channel until you see the screen.

No picture on HDMI connection.

• If this product is connected to an unauthorized display device with an HDMI cable, the audio/video signal may not be output.
• Check if the HDMI cable is faulty. Replace a new HDMI cable.
• If this happens when you change the [resolution] setting, press HDMI on the remote control repeatedly until picture appears.

No high-definition video signal on the TV.

• Ensure that the disc contains high-definition video.
• Ensure that the TV supports high-definition video.

Sound

No audio output from the TV.

• Ensure that the audio cables are connected to the audio input of the TV.
• Assign the audio input of the TV to the corresponding video input. See the TV user manual for details.

No audio output from the loudspeakers of the audio device (stereo system/amplifier/receiver).

• Ensure that the audio cables are connected to the audio input of the audio device.
• Turn on the audio device to its correct audio input source.

No sound on HDMI connection.

- You may not hear any sound from the HDMI output if the connected device is non-HDCP compliant or only DVI-compatible.

Play

Disc cannot be played.

• Ensure that the disc is correctly loaded.
• Ensure that this product supports the disc. See 'Specifications'.
• Ensure that this product supports the region code of the DVD or BD.
• For DVD+RW or DVD+R, ensure that the disc is finalized.
• Clean the disc.

Data files (JPEG, MP3) cannot be played or read.

• Ensure that the data file was recorded in the UDF, ISO9660 or JOLIET format.
• Ensure that the selected group (folder) does not contain more than 9,999 files for DVD, and 999 files for CD.
• Ensure that the JPEG file extension is jpg, JPG, jpeg or JPEG.
• Ensure that the MP3 file extension is .mp3 or .MP3 for windows Media™ Audio.

'No entry' sign appears on the TV.

• The operation is not possible.

Unable to access BD-Live feature.

• Check the network connection or ensure that the network has been set up.
• Clear local storage or USB.
• Ensure that the BD disc supports BD Live feature.

Glossary

A

Aspect ratio

Aspect ratio refers to the length to height ratio of TV screens. The ratio of a standard TV is 4:3, while the ratio of a high-definition or wide TV is 16:9. The letter box allows you to enjoy a picture with a wider perspective on a standard 4:3 screen.

B

Blu-ray Disc (BD)

Blu-ray Disc is a next generation optical video disc capable of storing five times more data than a conventional DVD. The large capacity makes it possible to benefit from the features such as high-definition videos, multichannel surround sound, interactive menus and so on.

BONUS VIEW

This is a BD-Video (Final Standard Profile or Profile 1.1) that supports interactive content encoded on the disc, such as picture-in-picture. This means you can play the primary video and secondary video simultaneously.

D

Digital Audio

Digital Audio is a sound signal that has been converted into numerical values. Digital sound can be transmitted through multiple channels. Analogue sound can only be transmitted through two channels.

Dolby Digital

A surround sound system developed by Dolby Laboratories that contains up to six channels of digital audio (front left and right, surround left and right, center and subwoofer.)

DTS

Digital Theatre Systems. A surround sound system for providing 5.1 channels of discrete digital audio in consumer electronics products and software content. It is not developed by Dolby Digital.

H

HDCP

High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection. This is a specification that provides a secure transmission of digital contents between different devices (to prevent unauthorized copyright.)

HDMI

High-Definition Multimedia Interface (HDMI) is a high-speed digital interface that can transmit uncompressed high definition video and digital multichannel audio. It delivers high quality picture and sound quality, completely free from noise. HDMI is fully backward-compatible with DVI. As required by the HDMI standard, connecting to HDMI or DVI products without HDCP (High-bandwidth Digital Content Protection) will result in no Video or Audio output.

J

JPEG

A very common digital still picture format. A still-picture data compression system proposed by the joint Photographic Expert Group, which features small decrease in image quality in spite of its high compression ratio. Files are recognized by their fill extension '.jpg' or '.jpeg.'

L

LAN (Local Area Network)

A group of linked devices in a company, school or home. Indicates the boundaries of a particular network.

Local storage

This storage area is used as destination for storing additional contents from BD-Live enabled BD-Video.

M

MP3

A file format with a sound data compression system. MP3 is the abbreviation of Motion Picture Experts Group 1 (or MPEG-1) Audio Layer 3. With the MP3 format, one CD-R or CD-RW can contain about 10 times more data than a regular CD.

P

PBC

Playback Control. A system where you navigate through a Video CD/Super VCD with on-screen menus that are recorded onto the disc. You can enjoy interactive playback and search.

PCM

Pulse Code Modulation. A digital audio encoding system.

R

Region code

A system that allows discs to be played only in the region designated. This unit only plays discs that have compatible region codes. You can find the region code of your unit on the product label. Some discs are compatible with more than one region (or ALL regions.)

W

WMA

Windows Media™ Audio. Refers to an audio compression technology developed by Microsoft Corporation. WMA data can be encoded with Windows Media player version 9 or Windows Media player for Windows XP. Files are recognized by their file extension '.wma.'
