Frequently Asked Questions - nano iGalvanic 3.0 iFi Audio

What is the iFi nano iGalvanic 3.0?
It is a USB isolator/reclocker designed to eliminate ground loops and reduce noise between a computer and a DAC, improving audio quality. It provides galvanic isolation up to 3000Vrms.
How do I connect the iGalvanic 3.0 to my system?
Connect the device-side USB 3.0 Type A port to your DAC using a USB cable. Then connect the host-side USB 3.0 Type B port to your computer. It is recommended to connect to the DAC first, then to the host PC.
Does the iGalvanic 3.0 require external power?
No, it is powered entirely via the USB bus from the host computer. It has an ultra-clean 0.5µV stealth converter internally, so no external power supply is needed.
What is the Ground Link switch for?
The Ground Link optimizes isolation based on your system's grounding. Center position is full isolation (default). Up position (DC to RF soft ground-link) helps with hum in systems without earth ground. Down position (RF soft ground-link) avoids audio drop-outs in systems without RF earth.
Will this work with USB 2.0 devices?
Yes, it supports USB 2.0 (Hi-Speed, Full-Speed, Low-Speed) as well as USB 3.0 SuperSpeed. It is backwards compatible.
Can I use a USB hub with the iGalvanic 3.0?
While not explicitly mentioned, it is recommended to connect directly to the host PC for best performance. Using a hub may introduce additional noise or compatibility issues.
What should I do if Windows does not recognize the device?
Try reinstalling the USB audio driver for your DAC. Also ensure you are using a USB 3.0 port on the host PC for best results. The device should be detected automatically.
Does the iGalvanic 3.0 support charging?
No, it is designed solely for data isolation and signal cleaning. It does not provide charging capabilities.
How do I clean and maintain the iGalvanic 3.0?
Disconnect it from all USB cables before cleaning. Use a dry, soft microfiber cloth to wipe the surface. Do not use liquids, sprays, or abrasive cleaners.
What is the warranty period and how do I activate it?
The warranty is 12 months for parts and labor. You must register the product on the iFi website within 30 days of purchase to activate warranty. Keep the original invoice for authentication.

Tip: Earth/ground loops are commonly found and this switch deals with NO or Multiple Earths/Grounds. If you have determined that your system has no Earth, it is recommended that an Earth/Ground is added such as by using the

Groundhog. Please see your nearest iFi retailer for more details.

Tip: It is more preferable to use a USB 3.0 port over using a USB 2.0 port on the PC. Make the connection between Audio Device (DAC) and iGalvanic3.0 first before connecting the iGalvanic3.0 to the Host PC. While this sequence is NOT mandatory, it ensures correct detection.

Tip: When adding the iGalvanic3.0 to the USB chain under Windows, it may be necessary to re-install a fresh version of the USB Audio Driver.

Tip: The iGalvanic3.0 is powered by the Host PC via the USB bus and has an ultra-clean 0.5uV stealth converter. There is no benefit powering the iGalvanic3.0 with other power supplies.
