Frequently Asked Questions - WK 30M DBK0 UK HOTPOINT

How do I descale my Hotpoint WK 30M DBK0 UK kettle?
To descale, fill the kettle with a mixture of 50% water and 50% white vinegar, boil, let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Alternatively, use a commercial descaling product following the instructions.
What is the capacity of this kettle?
The kettle has a capacity of 1.7 liters, which is ideal for boiling water for multiple cups at once.
Can I open the lid while boiling?
No, do not open the lid during boiling as it may release steam and cause burns. Wait until the kettle has automatically shut off.
How do I clean the limescale filter?
Remove the filter from the spout, wash it under running water with a soft brush, and reinsert it. For stubborn limescale, soak the filter in vinegar before rinsing.
What does the boil-dry protection do?
The boil-dry protection automatically switches off the kettle if it is turned on without enough water, preventing damage to the heating element and fire hazards.
Is the kettle cordless?
Yes, the kettle sits on a cordless base with 360° rotation, so you can lift and pour it easily without being tethered to a cord.
How much water should I put in for one cup?
For one cup (about 200 ml), fill the kettle to the minimum level indicated, usually around 0.5 liters. Boiling more water than needed wastes energy.
Can I boil milk or other liquids in this kettle?
No, this kettle is designed only for boiling water. Boiling milk or other liquids can cause damage and create a fire risk.
What should I do if the kettle doesn't turn on?
Check that the base is plugged in, the kettle is properly seated on the base, and the switch is in the ON position. Also ensure the boil-dry protection hasn't triggered; let it cool and refill.
How do I store the excess cord?
The base has a cord storage compartment underneath. Wind the excess cord around the clips to keep it tidy and adjustable.
