C7 Rapide Chronograph Quartz
Perhaps the most crucial part of F1 – away from the sheer thrill of drivers duelling through a chicane, or attempting to overtake at speeds exceeding a none-too-terrifying 200mph – is precision. In a lifestyle where a second can prove crucial between standing on the podium or in the paddock, the C7 Rapide Chronograph Quartz embodies those values of accuracy through its Ronda 5021.D chronograph movement.

Close-up of a black wristwatch with dual dials and a leather strap (no visible text or symbols)For those who are more fixated by the glamour of race weekend, the Chronograph Quartz has been embellished with a new aesthetic exclusive to Christopher Ward. Motorsport watches need to be bold, legible, dynamic; the Quartz Chronograph manages each of those things, with our vision of an automotive watch mirroring the excitement of the industry that inspired it. Double height numerals at 12 o'clock, surrounded by indexes that emphasise depth and shadow across the dial, indicate the exact high-octane energy we set out to achieve.
And that's before any mention is made of the four-piece case, which is both our most complex construction and most expensive to produce. We worked closely with our case manufacturer to ensure that it could appear in the Quartz Chronograph in its full glory; the results are brilliantly powerful. Now to show it off during a day down at the track...

For a superior water resistance your crown is of the screw-in type. The crown should sit flush to the case (position 1) in order to maintain water resistance.
- First unscrew the crown anti-clockwise from the case to position 2.
- Pull gently into position 3. For rapid date correction, turn in a clockwise direction.
- Pull gently into position 4. This position is used for handsetting and stopping of the second hand. For precise time setting it is recommended to pass beyond the desired minute and to set the hand backwards.
PLEASE NOTE: Date correction should not be carried out between 20.00 hr and 24.00 hr as the watch gearing will already be aligning itself to change the date. The crown should always be pushed in after adjustment, and it is best to do so from position 3 to avoid advancing beyond the desired date.
You must always ensure the crown is fully tightened before any use in water.
Using the chronograph
Start Stop

Press push-button A to start timing.
PLEASE NOTE: Before starting the time, reset the chronograph hands to their original position. See the Reset section to set the counters to zero.

To stop the timing, press push-button A once more and read the 2 chronograph counters, for example: 2 hours / 10 mins / 8 seconds.
Restart/Stop Reset

To restart the timing, press push-button A again (timing is resumed).
To stop timing press push-button A and read the 2 chronograph counters: 3 hours / 20 mins / 20 seconds.

To reset the timing, press push-button B (The 2 chronograph hands will be reset to their zero positions).
Adjusting chronograph hands to zero position
Example: One or both chronograph hands are not in their correct zero position and have to be adjusted (e.g. following a battery change).
Pull out the crown to position 4 (both chronograph hands are in their correct or incorrect zero position).
Keep push-buttons A and B depressed simultaneously for at least 2 seconds (the centre stop-second rotates by 360°, corrective mode is activated).
Adjusting the second counter hand
Single step A 1 x short Continuous A long

Adjusting the minute counter
Press push-button B to change adjustment to the minute counter and then use push-button A to adjust. When correct, return the crown to position 2 and screw-in to position 1.

Although your watch has been through vigorous static pressure testing, it is worth remembering that there are many variables that can affect the water resistance of your watch.
For instance, arm movements during swimming and the sudden impact of diving and water sports will drastically increase the pressure the watch is under. Wearing your watch in the bath, shower, or sauna can also have an effect as a rapid increase in temperature can cause seals to expand and in extreme cases, malfunction or create condensation.
For these reasons, the water resistance rating of your watch (as shown) should only ever be considered a guideline and we strongly recommend they are always adhered to.

1 ATM (10 metres)
Safe to wear your watch while washing your hands with tap water.

3 ATM (30 metres)
Washing your car and/or general hose pipe usage.

10 ATM (100 metres)
Water resistant to most household shower units.

15 ATM (150 metres)
Safe to use while snorkelling in open water.

30 ATM (300 metres)
Ideal for experienced divers and those practising scuba-diving.

60 ATM (600 metres)
Professional divers, experiencing prolonged exposure underwater.

100 ATM (1000 metres)
Professional deep sea diving.

As the owner of a Christopher Ward watch, if ever you need to get hold of us we are at your service. We have listed some useful contact details on the back cover.
There is also always something new going on at our website at www.christopherward.co.uk and, if you haven't already discovered the independent forum dedicated to our brand at www.christopherwardforum.com we would recommend a visit.
