The kitchen scale has both a solar cell and a lithium battery. The solar cell powers the scale in bright areas, elsewhere the lithium battery is used.

○If no battery or battery power is low, the display shows the icon.

The scale can operate without a battery in bright areas. If the light is not bright enough, the scale may be in the below conditions. Should this happens, insert a lithium battery.

• Displays Lo.

- Nothing is displayed.

• The display disappears during weighing.

- Brightness needed for powering the solar cell Place the kitchen scale about 1.4 m away from a 60 W incandescent bulb or 2.0 m from a 30 W fluorescent light.

- Do not use it near an inverter fluorescent light. If the scale does not work properly, move it at least 1 m away from such the light source. - The solar cell does not charge the lithium battery.

How to use

1. Open the battery compartment cover and insert 1× "CR2032(IEC)" or "5004LC" battery as indicated. (see figure 1) NB. Make sure that the polarity of battery is correctly aligned.

2. Press the ON/TARE button.

The display will show "8888".

Wait until the display shows "0" before proceeding to weigh item(s).

NB. Make sure you place item(s) in the centre of the tray.

If the weight of the item(s) exceeds the scale's capacity, "EEEE" will appear on the display.

1. Tare weighing function

The tare function allows you to Add and Weigh individual item(s) without removing contents of the bowl.

When the display shows "0", put the bowl onto the scale and press the ON/TARE button. The display will revert to "0" again.

Now add and weigh item(s), pressing the ON/TARE button before adding and weighing each individual item.

After removing the bowl at the end, the display will show a negative reading. Press the ON/TARE button to return the display to "0".

1. Press the OFF button to turn off the power.

2. Auto Power Off

The scale is designed with an auto power-off function for energy efficiency. If the same reading is displayed for more than 10 minutes the scale will automatically turn off.

1. Battery Replacement

The icon appears when the battery is depleted or no battery. Press the OFF button to turn off the scale and replace the old battery with a new CR2032 coin lithium battery that is within its recommended use-by date.

*Mode Change

When a mode change is required, press and hold the ON/TARE button about 2 seconds while display shows "g" or "oz". (for the g/oz version)

Care instructions and important notes

1. The scale is a precision instrument. Do not dismantle the scale and avoid strong vibrations or shocks.
2. Keep away from direct sunlight and heating appliances, eg. oven.
3. When moving the scale to a new location, where the temperature differs from the previous location by more than 10° C ( 50° F), leave the scale in the new location for at least 2 hours before using it.
4. Wipe the scale clean with a damp cloth.
5. Avoid using chemicals to prevent creating a hazard.
6. If the scale is not to be used for a long period of time, remove the batteries.
