Frequently Asked Questions - KT3653 Malmbergs

How do I use the kettle for the first time?
Before first use, boil fresh water at least twice to clean any manufacturing residues. Then discard the water and the kettle is ready for use.
What is the minimum and maximum water level?
Fill water between the MIN and MAX marks on the water level gauge. Never overfill to avoid ejection of boiling water.
How do I open the lid?
Press the lid button (if applicable) to release the lid. For models with a locking button, push it to open.
Why does the kettle turn off before the water boils?
This indicates that descaling is needed. Scale buildup can cause the kettle to shut off prematurely. Descale regularly using a suitable agent.
Can I use vinegar for descaling?
No, never use vinegar. Only use descaling agents recommended for plastic kettles.
How do I clean the filter?
Open the lid, pull the filter out from the interior body, rinse under running water, dry thoroughly, then reassemble.
Is the kettle safe to leave unattended?
The kettle automatically switches off after boiling, but always supervise children and do not leave it unattended near flammable materials.
Can I immerse the kettle in water?
No, never immerse the kettle, base, or cord in water or other liquids to avoid electrical hazards.
What should I do if the kettle stops working?
Check the power connection and ensure the kettle is properly seated on the base. If it still doesn't work, contact an authorized service agent.
How often should I descale the kettle?
For soft water, descale at least every 6 months. For hard water, every 3 months or more frequently if you notice increased noise or early shut-off.

DESCALING

The appliance has to be descaled regularly to ensure optimum performance. The frequency depends on the water hardness and the boiling frequency.

  1. If you begin to notice the increase of the noise during boiling, or the kettle switches off before boiled, this indicates that descaling is necessary.

Generally, the descaling should be done in the following periodicity:

With soft water, at least once every 6 months.

With hard water, at least once every 3 months.

  1. It is highly recommended to use only descaling agent suitable for plastic kettles.

  2. Read carefully the instructions of descaling agent then operate the descaling process step by step.

  3. After the descaling, rinse the inner of the kettle thoroughly with clean water.
