How do I connect the CRD900FD to my computer?

Plug the USB cable into your computer. The scanner will be recognized as a HID keyboard or virtual COM port. No extra drivers are needed for basic operation.

Can I scan 2D barcodes like QR codes?

Yes, the CRD900FD supports both 1D and 2D barcodes, including QR, Data Matrix, and PDF417.

The scanner beeps but does not send data. What should I do?

Ensure the USB cable is fully inserted. Try a different USB port. If it still doesn't work, check if the scanner is in 'USB HID' mode or scan the configuration barcode to reset to defaults.

How do I change the scanner's beep volume?

Scan the appropriate configuration barcode from the manual to adjust beep tone or volume. Typically, you can choose between low, medium, and high.

Does the scanner work with mobile devices?

If you have the Bluetooth version, it pairs with Android or iOS devices via Bluetooth HID or SPP. For the USB version, use an OTG adapter.

What is the scanning range of the CRD900FD?

For a 13 mil (0.33 mm) barcode, the typical depth of field is about 50 to 300 mm, depending on barcode density.

How do I perform a factory reset?

Scan the 'Reset to Factory Defaults' barcode found in the user manual. This restores all settings to original.

Can I use the scanner with POS software?

Yes, the scanner acts as a keyboard wedge. It sends barcode data as keystrokes, so it works with virtually any software that accepts keyboard input.

What do the LED colors mean?

Solid green indicates a successful scan. Red means error or not ready. Flashing may indicate configuration mode.

How do I clean the scanner?

Use a soft, lint-free cloth slightly dampened with water or mild cleaner. Do not use abrasive or solvent-based cleaners. Keep the scan window clean.

Powering on the CR900FD

For USB Cable: plug the USB end of the Affinity® cable into a USB port on the host device. After several seconds, the reader will beep twice and the LED will turn off to indicate the CR900FD is ready for use.

For RS232 Cable: plug the power supply into the AC outlet, plug the power supply cord into the barrel jack of the cable, and connect the RS232 connector to the appropriate serial port on the host device. After several seconds, the reader will beep twice and the LED will turn off to indicate the CR1400 is ready for use.

Using the CR900FD Out of a Universal Stand-

Press and hold the CR900FD trigger, the two blue bars emitting from the reader are used for targeting. Center the blue bars in the middle of a bar code.

The optimal reading distance from reader to bar code is approximately 4.0" (10 cm).

Once the reader is at the optimal distance, the CR900FD will read the bar code (when the trigger is pressed). The CR900FD will beep and flash a green LED to indicate a 'good read' has occurred.

Using the CR900FD in a Universal Stand

The CR900FD has a stand detection feature. By default, when the CR900FD is placed in the stand, the reader will automatically enter into motion detection mode. When in this mode, simply place a bar code in the scan field to activate the reader. The CR900FD will beep and flash a green LED to indicate a 'good read' has occurred.

When the CR900FD is removed from the stand, the reader switches to manual mode and the trigger must be pressed to read a bar code.

Attaching/Detaching a Cable

To attach a cable, plug the RJ-50 end of the Affinity® cable into bottom of the reader (Figure 1). Firmly push the connector into the reader until a snap can be heard, to indicate the cable is properly attached. To detach a cable, press a paper clip into the hole on the back of the CR900FD (Figure 2), and gently pull the cable from the reader.
