Frequently Asked Questions - HEV355 HONEYWELL

Why don't I see any mist coming out of my humidifier?
This is a cool moisture evaporative humidifier. Dry air is pulled through a wet wicking filter and moisture is dispersed invisibly. You will feel cool air but see no mist. Check water level over 24 hours to confirm operation.
How often should I clean the humidifier?
Regular cleaning is required. The water tank and tray are top-rack dishwasher safe. For manual cleaning, use undiluted vinegar to remove scale, then disinfect with a bleach solution (1 tsp bleach per 1 gallon water). Always remove the filter before cleaning.
How do I change the wicking filter?
Turn off and unplug the unit. Remove the water tank and upper enclosure. Discard the old filter. Soak a new HAC-504AW filter in cool water (do not wring). Place wet filter back, reassemble, and replace the water tank.
What do the fan speed settings mean?
Low for quiet operation (ideal for nighttime), Medium for everyday moisture control, and High for fast humidifying.
My filter turned brown. Do I need to replace it?
Probably not. The color change is usually mineral deposits, not mold. Soak the filter in cool water to break up deposits. The discoloration may remain but won't affect performance. Replace only if the filter is worn or damaged.
Can I put the entire humidifier in the dishwasher?
No. Only the water tank and water tray are top-rack dishwasher safe. Do not put the filter, tank cap, or main housing in the dishwasher. Use a gentle cycle and avoid detergents.
Where should I place the humidifier?
Place on a firm, level, water-resistant surface at least 6 inches (15 cm) from walls and furniture. Keep away from heat sources and out of reach of children.
Why is the water level not decreasing after several hours?
First, check if the filter is wet. If dry, rinse and reposition. Also, if room humidity is above 60%, evaporation slows. Ensure the upper enclosure and water tank are properly seated.
How do I store the humidifier at the end of the season?
Clean and disinfect the unit thoroughly. Discard the used filter. Make sure all parts are dry. Pack in the original carton and install a new filter before next use.
What is the warranty coverage?
This humidifier has a 3-year limited warranty covering defects in material or workmanship. It does not cover the filter or damage from misuse. Contact Kaz USA for repair or replacement.

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS READ AND SAVE THESE SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USING THIS HUMIDIFIER

When using electrical appliances, basic precautions should always be followed to reduce the risk of fire, electric shock, and injury to persons, including the following:

  1. Always place this humidifier on a firm, flat and level surface. This humidifier may not work properly on an uneven surface.
  2. Place this humidifier in an area where it is not accessible to children.
  3. Do not place the humidifier near any heat sources such as stoves, radiators, and heaters.
  4. Do not use the humidifier outdoors.
  5. Before using the humidifier, check the power cord for any signs of damage. If the cord is found to be damaged, DO NOT USE and return the humidifier to the manufacturer under the warranty agreement for repair.
  6. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of shock, this plug is intended to fit only one way in a polarized outlet. If the plug does not fit securely in the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. DO NOT attempt to defeat this safety feature.

  1. To disconnect the humidifier, first turn controls to the OFF position, then grip the plug and pull it from the wall outlet. Never pull by the cord.
  2. A loose fit between the AC outlet (receptacle) and plug may cause overheating and a distortion of the plug. Contact a qualified electrician to replace loose or worn outlet.
  3. The humidifier should always be unplugged and emptied when not in operation or while being serviced or cleaned.
  4. Never tilt or attempt to move the humidifier while it is operating or filled with water. UNPLUG the humidifier before moving.

  6. Do not direct moisture flow directly at individuals, walls or furniture.
  7. When a humidifier is used in a closed room or small rooms, check periodically for proper ventilation, as excessive humidity can cause condensation stains on walls.

INTRODUCTION SETTING UP YOUR HUMIDIFIER AND PLACEMENT

HOW IT WORKS

Water from the water tank flows into the reservoir. A wicking filter absorbs the water from the reservoir and becomes saturated. Dry air from the room is pulled into the humidifier through the intake grills. Moisture evaporates off the saturated wicking filter and is pushed into the room with the help of a fan.

Your humidifier is made up of these parts:
Motor Housing/ Upper Enclosure Water Tank Fill Cap O-Ring Gasket Filter Outside Inside Base

Remove from box. Remove packaging material. Remove and set aside this owner's manual. Recycle box and packaging materials or save box for end of season storage

Select a firm, level location at least 6" (15cm) from any walls and furniture for proper airflow. Place the humidifier on a water resistant surface, as water can damage furniture and some flooring.

Kaz USA, Inc. will not accept responsibility for property damage caused by water spillage.

TROUBLE SHOOTING

Q: I hear the fan turning, but I don't see any mist. Is my humidifier operating properly?

A: Dry air is pulled through the system and a fan disperses invisible, moisture balanced air. There is no "mist" emitted. When operating normally you will feel only cool air coming from the unit. Monitor the water level in your Tank/ Base. If you notice a decrease in the Water Tank over 24 hours then the unit is operating normally.

Q: My unit has been running for several hours. I hear the fan spinning, but I do not notice the water level in the tank decreasing.

A: First, check the filter to ensure it is wet. If the pad appears dry, remove it from the Base and gently rinse under cool water. Reposition wet filter in the Base. You may also want to note the current moisture level in your home. If the humidity level is over 60% the unit will not put out much moisture as your air is already saturated. Also verify the upper enclosure and water tank are properly seated.

Q: My filter has turned light brown and rust colored. Do I need a new filter?

A: Probably not. Since your filter has been made with Protec™ antimicrobial the change in color indicates only a mineral deposit. Soak filter in a sink full of cool water to help break up deposits. The discoloration may remain but will not affect the humidifier's performance.
