Frequently Asked Questions - CSD1X2U-V2 Bogen

How do I wire the CSD1X2U-V2 for 70V operation?
For 70V, connect the Red wire to the transformer tap and the White wire to the Blue wire. Set the tap selector to the desired power (14W or 4W). The Black wire is common.
What Nyquist modules are compatible with the CSD1X2U-V2 mounting plate?
Compatible modules include NQ-GA10P, NQ-GA10PV, NQ-GA20P2, NQ-GA40P3, and NQ-GAXMR1. They allow PoE, VoIP intercom, and distributed audio.
Can I use the speaker as an 8Ω passive speaker?
Yes. Disconnect the White wire from the Blue wire, and connect the Blue and Black wires to the amplifier. Maximum power is 10W at 8Ω.
How do I mount the speaker in a ceiling tile?
Cut a hole in the tile (11½" for 2×2 ft, 35½" for 2×4 ft). Insert the speaker, slide the Tile Support Rail under the edge, and drop in the tile. Secure with the Seismic Tether.
What is the power rating of the CSD1X2U-V2?
At 70V or 25V, taps are 14W and 4W. At 8Ω, maximum is 10W. The actual power depends on the amplifier.
How do I wire multiple CSD1X2U-V2 speakers together?
Daisy-chain speakers using the same voltage tap (25V or 70V). Ensure the total power draw does not exceed the amplifier's rating. Use the COM and tap wires for parallel connection.
What safety certifications does the CSD1X2U-V2 have?
It is listed to UL 62368 (audio/video and ICT equipment safety standard). All wiring must comply with NFPA 70.
Is the CSD1X2U-V2 compatible with PoE?
Yes, when paired with Nyquist PoE modules like NQ-GA10P (PoE) or NQ-GA40P3 (PoE++). Use a Cat 5 cable from a PoE switch to the module.
What is the warranty period for the CSD1X2U-V2?
Bogen provides a 2-year warranty from the date of sale against defects in material or workmanship, excluding abuse or improper installation.
How do I use the VoIP intercom function?
Install the NQ-GA10P or NQ-GA10PV module on the mounting plate. Wire the speaker at (10W max). Note: Intercom cannot be used with 25V/70V transformer configuration in the same setup.

CSD1X2U-V2

70V, 25V, and 8Ω Speaker System

Installation and Use Guide

The CSD1X2U-V2 ceiling has an 8" driver and a tap selector that allows it to be run as a 14 W to 4W speaker at 25V or 70V. It also includes a wire that bypasses the transformer and allows the speaker to operate at 8Ω. The V2 version of the speaker includes a unique mounting plate to greatly expand its capabilities by allowing several of Bogen's Nyquist products to be mounted to the speaker.

Mounting Plate

The mounting plate allows for the addition of several of Bogen's Nyquist products, including the NQ-GA10P, NQ-GA10PV, NQ-GA20P2, NQ-GA40P3, and the NQ-GAXMR1. Through this product integration, the CSD1X2U-V2 can operate as a Nyquist PoE enabled active loudspeaker system as well as a VoIP intercom station.

Passive Speaker Configuration

Electrical Connection

  1. Remove electrical box cover, install cable clamp (if desired), and feed interconnecting cable into the electrical box (see Figure 1).
  2. See table on the right to select correct wire types.
  3. Cut bare wire tip off of unused speaker leads. Secure all mechanical connections and reinstall the electrical box cover.
  4. Set tap selector switch to proper tap setting.
Note: All wiring must comply with NFPA 70.

Wiring Instructions

Run, at minimum, a Cat 5 cable from the appropriate-sized PoE switch and connect this to the PoE amplifier module.

Figure 6 shows the NQ-GA40P3 connected to the NQ-GAXMR1. The NQ-GA40P3 can be replaced by either the NQ-GA10P/V (see Figure 7) or NQ-GA20P2 (see Figure 8) modules. These illustrations also show 25V wiring running from NQ-GAXMR1 to a CSD1X2U-V2 speaker and additional speakers if needed. 70V is also an option, but both outputs cannot be used simultaneously. If additional speakers are needed, proper care should be taken when wiring so the amplifier does not become overloaded.
