Frequently Asked Questions - Escape (2011) Swift

How do I replace a rear stop/tail lamp bulb on my Swift Escape 2011?
Access is from the front via the lens. Remove the 2 screws from each light lens, withdraw the lens, and release the bulb by applying slight pressure and twisting. The bulb is a P21/5W bayonet fitting. Ensure orientation is correct (brake light should be brighter than tail light). Reverse to reassemble.
What is the towing capacity of the Swift Escape 622?
The recommended maximum trailer weight for the Escape 622 (100 MJ 2.2L engine, SWB chassis) is 1600 kg. The gross train weight is 4900 kg. Ensure the payload is reduced accordingly to not exceed MTPLM and axle loads.
Where are the jacking points located on the Escape?
Jacking points for both High-Line and Low-Line models are indicated in the manual with a diagram. They are located on the chassis. Refer to the Jacking Points section in the manual for precise locations.
What type of gas bottles does the Swift Escape use?
The recommended gas bottles are 2 x 6 kg CalorLite (or equivalent). The manual states these are the recommended sizes.
How do I check the fresh water tank capacity?
The fresh water tank capacity for the Escape is 65 litres. The waste water tank is 68 litres, and the water heater holds 10 litres. Refer to the Capacities table in the manual.
What is the maximum payload I can carry in my Swift Escape?
The Maximum User Payload for the Escape 622 is 495 kg (MTPLM 3300 kg minus Mass in Running Order 2805 kg). This includes passengers, essential habitation equipment, optional items, and personal effects. Do not exceed the MTPLM.
How do I interpret the wiring diagrams in the manual?
The manual includes diagrams for road lighting, consumer circuits (roof and floor), power circuits, and 230V circuits. Each refers to the Sargent PSU C460. Cable colours are coded (e.g., Y/U = Yellow with Blue stripe). Follow the flowcharts and connector labels carefully.
What engine options are available for the Escape 2011?
Depending on the model, engines include the Fiat 2.2L MultiJet 100 bhp (standard for 622, 624, 664, 686, 696) and the Fiat 2.3L MultiJet 130 bhp (optional for 686 and 696). Both are diesel.
How do I maintain the exterior of my Swift Escape?
Regularly wash with mild detergent and water. Check seals and roof lights for leaks. The manual does not provide extensive maintenance, but common motorhome care includes waxing and inspecting for damage. Refer to the Swift Group website for more tips.
Where can I download the full manual for the Swift Escape 2011?
The manual is available for free download in PDF format from notice-facile.com or the Swift Group website. It contains 20 pages covering specifications, capacities, wiring diagrams, and bulb replacement instructions.

* With this vehicle configuration it will be necessary to reduce the payload carried inside the van when towing to ensure that the MTPLM and maximum axle loads are not exceeded.
To ensure adequate road holding, the load on the front axle, under all conditions, must not be less than 40% or more than 70% of the total weight.
Care must be taken when distributing loads. The loadings and weights above are maximums and must not be exceeded under any circumstances.

CAUTION: When fitting a towbar, it must meet certain minimum requirements as specified by Type Approval Regulations. The bar will have marked on it the approval standard (94/20/EC) and the maximum download, or noseweight, that it can accept. It must fit the manufacturer's approved mounting points and must not obscure the towing vehicle's number plate.
