Outdoor Use and Care

Though Explorer FX is water-resistant and able to tolerate splashing water, please review the tips below to get the best performance from Explorer FX:

- Explorer FX must only be used outdoors with power outlets or extension cords that are rated for outdoor use. Please do not connect the power cable to Explorer FX in a wet environment. Make sure the power input, power cable, and power outlet are all completely dry before making any connections.

- Please do not place Explorer FX in standing water, and bring Explorer FX indoors during extreme weather.

Rechargeable Batteries

• Fully charge the battery prior to first use.

- Charge the battery completely after each use. It is acceptable to leave Explorer FX plugged in; this will not overcharge the battery. Explorer FX does not need to be powered on to charge the battery.

- The battery icon blinking on the Display means that the battery is charging. When fully charged, all segments of the battery icon will be lit without blinking. When the power cable is disconnected, the battery icon shows the current level of the battery.

- For best product longevity, do not store at exceedingly hot (greater than 90°F/32°C) or exceedingly cold (less than 32°F/0°C) temperatures. If you leave the battery level low and do not charge it for 6 months, it may permanently lose capacity.

Features

1. Power Button: This button turns Explorer FX on or off.

2. Bluetooth Button: Press and release the Bluetooth button to pair to a Bluetooth

3. Light Mode Button: Press this button to cycle through the four different light modes for Explorer FX's multicolored button LEDs, or to turn the lights off.

4. Link: Press and hold this button to start stereo linking to another Explorer FX speaker. Once the link has been established, LINK should appear on the Display. Select which unit will be the primary speaker by pressing and releasing its Bluetooth button. Use this speaker for pairing with a Bluetooth device or selecting a radio station. The primary speaker will play left channel audio, and the secondary speaker will play right channel audio. To disconnect the link between the two speakers, double-press the Link button.

5. Radio Selector: This button sets the radio to FM, AM, or turns the radio off.

6. Tune/Track Buttons: Press and release these buttons to tune in a radio station or go to the previous/next track on a Bluetooth connected device. To "seek" (jump to the next available radio station), hold either button down for a few seconds.

7. Play/Pause / Preset: Press to play or pause a track from a connected Bluetooth device.

In Radio Mode, press and release this button to select a previously saved preset station. To save the current station as a preset, press and hold this button, use the Tune/Track buttons to select which preset you want to save it to, and press this button again to confirm.

1. Display: This screen shows information relevant to Explorer FX's current operation. See the full User Guide to learn more.

2. Volume Control: Press this knob to toggle between controlling the music volume and controlling the microphone volume. Turn the knob to increase or decrease the volume.

3. Microphone Input: Connect a microphone to this 1/4" (6.35 mm) mono input

4. Auxiliary Input: This stereo 1/8" (3.5 mm) input can be used to connect a CD player, MP3 player, or other audio source.

5. USB Charging Port: Connect your device's charge cable here to charge it. USB charging only functions when the unit's power is turned on.

6. Touch FX: Press this button to cycle between the FX modes for the pads. See below to learn more.

7. Pads: Press these pads to trigger different sound samples, depending on the setting of the Touch FX button.

8. Boom Button: Press this button to simultaneously enhance the bass EQ and volume and activate a light show that pulses to the beat of the music.

Pairing with a Bluetooth Device

1. Make sure the speaker is within range of your Bluetooth device (no more than 100 ft. / 30.5 m away).

2. Press and release the Bluetooth button on the speaker.

3. Navigate to your Bluetooth device's setup screen. Then find and select Explorer FX. If your Bluetooth device prompts for a pairing code, enter 0000

Note: If you have previously connected to your Bluetooth device, Explorer FX will reconnect automatically.

Tip: Double-press the Bluetooth button to enable or disable the Bluetooth pairing voice prompts.

To disconnect a paired Bluetooth device, press and release the Bluetooth button.

Using Touch FX

Press the Touch FX button to toggle between the five different FX modes, each with eight different fun sounds: Drum, DJ, Sport, Speech and Fun.

Tap the pads to trigger each sound effect. Use the Drum and DJ effects to enhance your dance party, the Sport effects to fire up the crowd at the game, punctuate a toast with the Speech effects, or have a blast with the Fun effects.

App Control

IMPORTANT: To ensure the best possible experience with the app, use the most current Android OS or iOS on your device.

Note: Ensure that your device has internet access via your service provider or wireless connection. You can also download the app on your computer, but remember to connect and sync your device to transfer the app.

Follow these steps to download the free app on your device:

1. Open the Apple App Store or Google Play on your device. Then Search for the ION Sound XP app.

2. Follow the on-screen instructions to download and install the app. Once downloaded, the ION Sound XP app will appear on your device's home screen.

Product Warranty

(for products purchased in the U.S.A.)

What is covered and for how long?

All Products: ION Audio, LLC ("ION Audio") warrants to the original purchaser that ION Audio products and all other accessories are free from defects in material and workmanship under normal use and service for the period commencing upon the date of purchase from an authorized ION Audio dealer and continuing for the following period of time after that date for ninety (90) days. ION Audio warrants factory-refurbished merchandise to be free of material and operational defects for a period of ninety (90) days from the original date of retail sale. This refurbished merchandise warranty is not transferable.

1. What is not covered? This Limited Warranty is conditioned upon proper use of the product by the purchaser. This Limited Warranty does not cover: (a) damage caused by improper installation or improper connection to any peripheral; (b) damage caused by an external electrical fault; (c) damage from use of parts not manufactured or sold by ION Audio; (d) product purchased from anyone other than an ION Audio authorized dealer; (e) modifications to product not approved in writing by ION Audio; (f) equipment that has the serial number removed or made illegibles; (g) normal cosmetic and mechanical wear; (h) damage or loss during transit to an Authorized ION Audio Repair Center; or (i) units that are purchased and/or located outside of the continental USA.

What are ION Audio's obligations? During the applicable warranty period, ION Audio will repair or replace, at ION Audio's sole option, without charge to the purchaser, any defective component part of the product. To obtain a purchase, ION Audio will be sold for sale in the securities mentioned herein, and/or its derivative products, the merchant authorization ("RMA") number. Purchaser must then return the product to ION Audio in an adequate container for shipping, accompanied by purchaser's sales receipt or comparable proof of sale showing the date of purchase, the serial number of the product, and the seller's name and address. To obtain an RMA number of 100 shares, ION Audio will receive a purchase from the first party's share (the latter party's share) and the recipient's ID card, ION Audio will repair or replace the defective products. ION Audio may, at ION Audio's sole option, use rebuilt, reconditioned, or new parts or components when repairing any product or replace a product with a position that is not suitable for sale. If you are unable to convey insurable title information, ION Audio will have no further claim of the remainder of the original Limited Warranty on the original product or for 90 days, whichever is longer. All replaced parts, components, boards, and equipment become the property of ION Audio. If ION Audio determines that any product is not covered by this Limited Warranty, purchaser must pay all parts, ships and other services.

What are the limits on ION Audio's liabilities? THE WARRANTIES GIVEN IN THIS LIMITED WARRANTY, TOGETHER WITH ANY IMPLIED WARRANTIES COVERING ION AUDIO PRODUCTS, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION ANY WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY OR FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND/OR ANY OTHER WARRANTIES IN ANY PROCESSED BY THE PREPARED ESSENTS, INCLUDING ANY APPlicable LAW, ION AUDIO SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY SPECIAL, INCIDENTAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, INDIRECT OR SIMILAR DAMAGES, LOSS OF PROFITS, DAMAGES TO PURCHASER'S PROPERTY, OR ANY OTHER WARRANTIES IN ANY PROCESSED BY THE PREPARED ESSENTS, INCLUDING ANY EQUIPMENT, THE INFORMATION, THE AUDI PRODUCT, BREACH OF WARRANTY, OR NEGLIGENCE, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO ION AUDIO'S OWN NEGLIGENCE, EVEN IF ION AUDIO OR THEIR AGENTS HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF SUCH circumstances. This Limited Warranty allocates risk of product failure between purchaser and ION Audio, and ION Audio's product pricing reflects this allocation of risk and the limitations of liability contained in this Limited Warranty. The agents, employees, distributors, and dealers of ION Audio are not authorized to make modifications to this Limited Warranty, or make additional warranties binding on ION Audio. Accordingly, additional statements such as dealer advertising or presentation, whether oral or written, do not constitute warranties by ION Audio and should not be relied upon.

1. How does state law apply to this warranty? Return Information

- A return merchant authorization number must be obtained from your local ION Audio representative. For your representative go to ionsaudio.com.

- A copy of the original sales receipt must also be included for the equipment to be repaired under warranty.

• The faulty equipment must be packed in its original packaging.

- One additional outer layer of packaging must be included to ensure product safety. Failure to do so may inadequately protect the equipment in transit and therefore jeopardize the warranty.

• ION Audio will not accept COD shipments and no call tags will be issued for merchandise return.

- ION Audio will not return repaired merchandise to customers by priority service except by written request at the customer's cost. Requests must be submitted in writing with returned merchandise.

- The defective ION Audio equipment should be sent freight prepaid with the return merchant authorization number printed clearly on the outer packaging and original sales receipt enclosed to your local service center.

Important Safety Instructions

1. Read and keep these instructions. Heed all warnings and follow all Instructions

2. Water and Moisture (if applicable): This product should be kept away from direct contact with liquids. The apparatus shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no objects filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the apparatus.

3. Do not block any ventilation openings (if applicable). Install in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions, Do not install this equipment in a confined or "boxed-in" space such as a bookcase or similar unit, and maintain good ventilation conditions. The ventilation should not be impeded by covering the ventilation openings with items such as newspaper, tablecloths, curtains, etc.

4. Do not install near any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. Do not place exposed flame sources such as lighted candles on the apparatus.

5. Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug (if applicable). A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. If the provided plug does not fit into your outlet, consult an electrician for replacement of the obsolete outlet.

6. (If applicable) Protect the power cord from being walked on or pinched particularly at plugs, convenience receptacles, and the point where they exit from the apparatus. When moving or not using the appliance, secure the power cord (e.g., wrap it with a cable tie). Be careful not to damage the power cord. Before using it again, make sure the power cord has not been damaged. If the power cord has been damaged at all, bring the unit and cord to a qualified service technician for repair or replacement as specified by the manufacturer.

7. Use only the cart, stand, tripod, bracket or table specified by the manufacturer, or sold with the apparatus (if applicable). When a cart is used, use caution when moving the cart/apparatus combination to avoid injury from tip-over.

8. Unplug this apparatus during lightning storms or when unused for long periods of time.

9. Power Sources (if applicable): This product should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in these operating instructions, or as marked on the unit.

10. Caution: Danger of explosion if battery is incorrectly replaced. Replace only with the same or equivalent type. Batteries (a battery pack or an installed battery) shall not be exposed to excessive heat such as sunshine, fire, etc. (This applies only if your product uses a battery.)

11. Protective earthing terminal (if applicable): The apparatus should be connected to a mains socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.

12. For Class II apparatus only (if applicable): This symbol means the equipment is a Class II or double-insulated electrical appliance. It has been designed in such a way that it does not require safety, positioning, or electrical earth.

13. Class II Wiring (if applicable): To reduce the risk of electric shock, the external wiring connected to the terminals with "Class II Wiring" requires Class II wiring installed by an instructed person or the use of ready-made leads or cords.
