Safety

Safety messages are designed to alert you to possible dangers or hazards that could cause death, injury or equipment or property damage if not understood or followed. Safety messages have the following symbols:

It is vital that you read and understand this user manual before using the product, including safety warnings, and any assembly and operating instructions. Keep the manual for future reference.

Safety precautions and recommendations detailed here must be fully understood and followed to reduce the risk of injury, fire, explosion, electrical hazard, and/or property damage.

Safety information presented here is generic in nature – some advice may not be applicable to every product. The term "equipment" refers to the product, be it electrical mains powered, battery powered or combustion engine powered.

General Work Area Safety

• Work areas should be clean and well it.
- Do not operate the equipment if bystanders, animals etc are within operating range of the equipment or the general work area.
- If devices are provided for connecting dust extraction / collection facilities, ensure these are connected and used properly. Dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

General Personal Safety

• Wear appropriate protective equipment when operating, servicing, or when in the operating area of the equipment to help protect from eye and ear injury, poisoning, burns, cutting and crush injuries. Protective equipment such as safety goggles, respirators, non-slip safety footwear, hard hat, hearing protection etc should be used for appropriate equipment / conditions. Other people nearby should also wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery, which can be caught in moving parts. Keep hair and clothing away from the equipment.
• Stay alert and use common sense when operating the equipment. Do not overreach. Always maintain secure footing and balance.
• Do not use the equipment if tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol, or medication.
• This equipment is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities.

General Fuel Safety

• Petrol/fuel/gasoline is extremely flammable – keep clear of naked flames or other ignition sources.
• Do not spill fuel. If you spill fuel, wipe it off the equipment immediately – if fuel gets on your clothing, change clothing.
• Do NOT smoke near fuel or when refuelling.
  • Always shut off the engine before refuelling.
• Do NOT refuel a hot engine.
• Open the fuel cap carefully to allow any pressure build-up in the tank to release slowly.
  • Always refuel in well-ventilated areas.
  • Always check for fuel leakage. If fuel leakage is found, do not start, or run the engine until all leaks are fixed.

General Carbon-Monoxide Safety

• Using a combustion engine indoors CAN KILL IN MINUTES. Engine exhaust contains carbon-monoxide – a poison you cannot smell or see.
• Use combustion engines OUTSIDE only, and far away from windows, doors, and vents.

General Equipment Use and Care

• The equipment is designed for domestic use only.
• Handle the equipment safely and carefully.
• Before use, inspect the equipment for misalignment or binding of moving parts, loose components, damage, or any other condition that may affect its operation. If damaged, have the equipment repaired by an authorised service centre or technician before use.
• Prevent unintentional starting of the equipment - ensure equipment and power switches are in the OFF position before connecting or moving equipment. Do not carry equipment with hands or fingers touching any controls. Remove any tools or other items that are not a part of the equipment from it before starting or switching on.
• Do not force the equipment. Use the correct equipment for your application. Equipment will perform better and be safer when used within its design and usage parameters.
• Use the equipment and accessories etc. in accordance with these instructions, considering working conditions and the work to be performed. Using the equipment for operations different from those intended could result in hazardous situations.
• Always keep equipment components (engines, hoses, handles, controls, frames, housings, guards etc) and accessories (cutting tools, nozzles, bits etc) properly maintained. Keep the equipment clean and, where applicable, properly lubricated.
• Store the equipment out of reach of children or untrained persons. To avoid burns or fire hazards, let the equipment cool completely before transporting or storing. Never place or store the equipment near flammable materials, combustible gases, or liquids etc.
• The equipment is not weather-proof, and should not be stored in direct sunlight, at high ambient temperatures or locations that are damp or humid.

General Electrical Safety

• Inspect electrical equipment, extension cords, power bars, and electrical fittings for damage or wear before each use. Repair or replace damaged equipment immediately.
• Ensure all power sources conform to equipment voltage requirements and are disconnected before connecting or disconnecting equipment.
• When wiring electrically powered equipment, follow all electrical and safety codes.
  • Always use a Residual Current Device (RCD) (GFCI) / Earth Leakage Circuit Breaker / Safety Switch when operating this item (electrical items only).
• High voltage / high current power lines may be present. Use extreme caution to avoid contact or interference with power lines. Electrical shock can be fatal.

General Electrical Safety

• Electrically grounded equipment must have an approved cord and plug and be connected to a grounded electrical outlet.
• Do NOT bypass the ON/OFF switch and operate equipment by connecting and disconnecting the electrical cord.

• Replacement parts must be original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to ensure equipment safety is maintained.
• Do NOT attempt any maintenance or repair work not described in this manual.
• After use, the equipment and components may still be hot – allow the equipment to cool and disconnect spark plugs and/or electrical power sources and/or batteries from it before adjusting, changing accessories, or performing repair or maintenance.
• Do NOT adjust while the equipment is running.
• Perform service-related activities in suitable conditions, such as a workshop.
• Replace worn, damaged or missing warning/safety labels immediately.

Electric Scooter Safety

• The Scooter is a recreational product. Before mastering riding skills, you need to practice. The supplier is not responsible for any injuries or damage caused by a rider's inexperience or failure to follow the instructions in this user manual.
• You can reduce risks by following all the instructions and warnings in this user manual, but you cannot eliminate all risks. Remember that whenever you ride the Scooter, you risk injury from loss of control, collisions, and falls. When entering public spaces, always comply with the local laws and regulations.
• As with other vehicles, faster speeds require longer braking distance. Sudden braking on low traction surfaces could lead to wheel slips or falls. Be cautious and always keep a safe distance between you and other people or vehicles when riding. Be alert and slow down when entering unfamiliar areas.
• Always wear a helmet when riding. Use an approved bicycle or skateboard helmet that fits properly with the chin strap in place and provides protection for the back of your head.

- Do not attempt your first ride in any area where you might encounter children, pedestrians, pets, vehicles, bicycles, or other obstacles and potential hazards.

- Respect pedestrians by always yielding the right of way. Pass on the left whenever possible. When approaching a pedestrian from the front, stay to the right and slow down. Avoid startling pedestrians. When approaching from behind, announce yourself and slow down to walking speed when passing. Please obey local traffic laws and regulations if situation is different.

- In places without laws, comply with the safety guidelines outlined in this user manual. The supplier is not responsible for any property damage, personal injury/death, accidents, or legal disputes caused by violations of the safety instructions.

- Do not allow anyone to ride your Scooter on his/her own unless they have carefully read this user manual and followed the New Rider Tutorial in the App. The safety of new riders is your responsibility. Assist new riders until they are comfortable with the basic operation of the Scooter. Make sure each new rider wears a helmet and other protective gear.

- Before each ride, check for loose fasteners and damaged components. If the Scooter makes abnormal sounds or signals an alarm, immediately stop riding. Diagnose your Scooter via the App and call your local dealer/distributor for servicing.

- Always be alert! Scan both far ahead and in front of your Scooter - your eyes are your best tool for safely for avoiding obstacles and low traction surfaces (including, but not limited to, wet ground, loose sand, loose gravel, and ice).

- To reduce risk of injury, you must read and follow all "CAUTION" and "WARNING" notices in this user manual. Do not ride at an unsafe speed. Under no circumstance should you ride on roads with motor vehicles. The manufacturer recommends riders be 14+ years old. Always follow these safety instructions:

• People who should not ride the Scooter include:

- Anyone under the influence of alcohol or drugs.

- Anyone who suffers from any diseases that puts them at risk if they engage in strenuous physical activity.

Urban 8 Scooter

• Anyone who has problems with balance or with motor skills that would interfere with their ability to maintain balance.
• Anyone whose weight is outside the stated limits (see Specifications).
• Pregnant women.
• Riders under the age of 18 years old should ride under adult supervision.
• Comply with local laws and regulations when riding this product. Do not ride where prohibited by local laws.
  • To ride safely, you must be able to clearly see what is in front of you and you must be clearly visible to others.
• Do not ride in the snow, in the rain, or on roads which are wet, muddy, icy, or that are slippery for any reason. Do not ride over obstacles (sand, loose gravel, or sticks). Doing so could result in a loss of balance or traction and could cause a fall.
• Do not attempt to charge your Scooter if the charger or the power outlet is wet.
• As with any electronic device, use a surge protector when charging to help protect your Scooter from damage due to power surges and voltage spikes. Only use supplier's charger. Do not use a charger from any other different product models.
• Use only supplier-approved parts and accessories. Do not modify your Scooter. Modifications to your Scooter could interfere with the operation of the Scooter and could result in serious injury and/or damage and could void the warranty.
• Never lean forward while riding.
• Always ensure your centre of balance is toward the rear of the scooter to reduce chances of accident during braking or impact with an obstacle or a rough or soft surface.
• If local laws and regulations allow riding in areas that could be exposed to other people or vehicles, do not exceed a speed of walking pace while in these areas.
• WARNING! AUTOMATIC OR UNINTENDED ACTIVATION OF CRUISE CONTROL (IF EQUIPPED) WHILE CORNERING AT THE LIMITS OF THE VEHICLE OR RIDER, OR DURING PERFORMANCE OF A WHEELIE, COULD RESULT IN LOSS OF CONTROL, ACCIDENT, INJURY OR DEATH.

Charging Safety

When charging the scooter, please pay attention to the following points:

• Ensure that it is charged in dry and clean environment, the input voltage should be between 110-240V, and the other end is connected to the charging port of the scooter.
• A red LED light indicates the scooter is being charged.
• If the charger LED light is green, charging is complete.
• For your safety, don't operate the scooter while charging.
• Disconnect the scooter from the charger when the charging is completed.

Assembly

1. Secure the steering rod and open the folding mechanism.

Operation

Control Panel Features

The control panel has 5 LEDs, indicating a level of charge. During consumption of battery, status indicators are lit, then flashes and finally turns off one after another. If all 5 LEDs are lit, the battery level is 100 - 86%. If 4 LEDs are lit, and one is blinking, charging level is at 85 - 71%. So, all charge level lights begin to flicker, and then do not light.

The lowest charge level indicator may be white or green. When the scooter is in normal operation, LED glows white. If the scooter is running in power saving mode, the indicator light will be green. (In power saving mode: the maximum speed is 18km/h, speed level is adjusted more smoothly, which is more suitable for beginners).

Power Button:

• Press and hold for about 3 seconds to turn ON/OFF.
  • After starting the scooter, press once to turn the headlight ON/OFF.
  • After starting the scooter, press the button for 2 consecutive times and switch between 1 / 2 / 3 gear.
• After starting the scooter, press the button for 4 consecutive times to switch to between rolling throttle mode and stationary throttle mode.
  • After starting up, press 5 times in succession to switch the colour of the speedometer.
  • After starting the scooter, press the button for 6 times in succession to switch between km / mil.

Charging the Scooter

WARNING! DO NOT CHARGE IF THE CHARGE PORT OR POWER CORD IS WET. DO NOT CHARGE OR USE YOUR BATTERY IF IT IS DAMAGED OR WET. CLOSE THE CHARGING PORT COVER WHEN NOT CHARGING.

ATTENTION: Monitor battery usage when in use, the scooter may suddenly slow down as the battery charge reduces.

When the middle of the folding piece is loose:

Determine whether the lower part of the fold is loose. If it is loose, complete the following steps.

The Scooter is for one rider only. Do not carry any passengers. Do not carry a child. Do not ride when pregnant.

Folding

1. Make sure that the e-scooter is switched OFF.
2. Open the folding buckle.
3. Fold down the handlebar and secure it by hooking it onto the ring located on the mudguard.

When your Scooter is folded up, lift it by the stem to carry it. Ensure you do not hit any obstacles or people.

Lithium Battery Care and Maintenance

Top 3 Battery Care Requirements

1. Charge battery before first use. The battery may arrive with some charge, regardless of this the battery must be charged for 6 hours on the initial charge and 6 hours for each subsequent charge.
2. Charge battery immediately when it is depleted. Do not store a depleted battery. This will permanently impact the life of the battery. If the battery is going to be stored for a period of time, fully charge the battery before storing.
3. Disconnect battery when not in use. To prolong the life of a battery, disconnect it from the unit when not in use. Disconnect chargers from the battery once charged.

To ensure the battery maintains optimum performance, follow the guidelines outlined below.

• For best results, charge batteries in temperatures between 10°C and 30°C
- When battery is charged, disconnect the charger from the power supply and remove the battery from the charger.
- If a battery is stored or otherwise unused for an extended period, and the battery has no charge remaining when you check it, consider it to be damaged. Do not attempt to recharge it or to use it. Replace it with a new battery.
• Use only with the battery charger specified by the manufacturer.

- Ensure that the battery charger electrical cord is not subjected to damage or stress. Do not operate the battery charger if it has a damaged electrical cord or plug.

- Do not use the charger in wet areas or expose it to rain or water.

- The typical estimated life of a Lithium-Ion battery is about two to three years or 300 to 500 charge cycles, whichever occurs first. One charge cycle is a period of use from fully charged, to fully discharged, and fully recharged again.

- Explosion hazard – protect the battery against heat, for example, direct sunlight and fire. Do not store batteries in vehicles or locations subject to heat.

- Batteries can explode in the presence of an ignition source, such as a pilot light. To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, never use any cordless product in the presence of open flame. Exploding batteries can propel debris and chemicals.

- Do not open the battery – danger of short-circuiting and/or explosion.

- Do not attempt to destroy or disassemble the battery pack or remove any of its components.

- Do not touch the battery terminals with metal objects and/or body parts as short-circuit and/or personal injury may result.

- Explosion hazard – do not open and/or short-circuit the battery.

- Poison hazard – battery leakage (liquid ejection). Under extreme conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery – avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, immediately seek medical attention, and flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, immediately seek medical attention, flush with clean water for at least 10 minutes. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.

- Dispose of non-serviceable batteries in an environmentally responsible manner and according to local regulations.

Failure to adhere to the requirements above may result in the battery becoming inoperative or battery life being reduced. In extreme cases or abuse, battery overheating, or fire may result.

DANGER - BATTERY CHARGING, USE AND STORAGE

Like mobile phones, laptops, cordless vacuum cleaners etc, this product may contain or be related to a lithium ion battery pack (lithium ion batteries and lithium ion battery related items only). Lithium ion batteries allow fast charging and high capacities, however care must be taken to reduce chances of a fault, and increase safety in case a fault occurs. Catastrophic incidents involving lithium ion batteries have a tendency to result in large amounts of smoke and fire. Be sure to follow the points below to reduce the likelihood of danger whenever you use, charge or store any lithium ion battery.

• Never charge a battery that has been damaged or subjected to a forceful impact.
• Never charge a battery that has been exposed to moisture or water.
• Never charge a battery with a charger that wasn't supplied with the battery.
• Never use a battery in a device that it wasn't specifically designed for.
• Never use a battery with a modified or damaged device.
• Never modify the battery, product, charger, circuitry or wiring.
• Never charge a battery in an exit path that may be used by people to leave a room or building in case of an emergency, for example, the hallway or foyer of a residence.
• Never charge a battery in an area or building that doesn't have the recommended number of working smoke detectors that have been tested in accordance with local guidelines.
• Never charge a battery when the battery or charger is displaying a problem or charging incorrectly.
• Always charge batteries on a non-combustible surface, for example, on a concrete floor.
• Always charge batteries at least 3m away from anything combustible, such as floors, wall surfaces, furniture, storage shelves etc.
• Always charge batteries in an open area (outside if possible) ensuring the battery and charger are away from moisture and water.
• Always disconnect batteries from the charger after charging.
• Always remove or disconnect batteries from the device/product when not in use.
• Always ensure batteries are charged under adult supervision. Do not charge unattended. Do not charge batteries while no one is home or while people are sleeping.
• Keep batteries away from heat and moisture.
• Damaged batteries should be disposed of through your local e-waste collection service.
• Avoid mixing and matching chargers. Unplug products when fully charged, and charge batteries in a cool, dry place away from combustible materials like beds, lounges, or carpet.
• During charging and use, check your lithium-ion batteries for overheating, signs of swelling, leaking, or venting gas. Immediately stop using your product if these signs are present.
• Allow batteries to cool after use and before charging.

Maintenance

Cleaning and Storage:

Use a soft, wet cloth to wipe the mainframe clean. Dirt that is hard to remove can be scrubbed with a toothbrush and toothpaste, then cleaned with a soft, wet cloth.

NOTE: Do not wash your Scooter with alcohol, gasoline, acetone, or other corrosive/volatile solvents. These substances may damage the appearance and internal structure of your Scooter. Do not wash your Scooter with a power washer or hose.

WARNING! Make sure the Scooter is turned OFF, the power cord is unplugged, and the rubber cap on the charging port is tightly sealed before cleaning. Otherwise, you may damage the electronic components. Store your Scooter in a cool, dry place. Do not store it outdoors for extended periods of time. Exposure to sunlight and temperature extremes (both hot and cold) will accelerate the aging process of the plastic components and may reduce battery life.

Battery Pack Maintenance:

Do not store or charge the battery at temperatures outside the stated limits. Do not puncture the battery. Refer to your local laws and regulations regarding battery recycling and/or disposal. A well-maintained battery can perform well even after many miles of riding. Charge the battery after each ride and avoid draining the battery completely. When used at room temperature (70°F [22°C]) the battery range and performance is at its best: whereas using it at temperatures below 32°F (0°C) can decrease range and performance. Typically, at -4°F (-20°C) range can be half that of the same battery at 70°F (22°C). Battery range will recover when temperature rises.

NOTE: Typically, a fully charged battery should retain power for 120-180 days. A low-power battery should retain power for 30-60 days. Remember to charge the battery after each use. Completely draining the battery may cause permanent damage to the battery. Electronics inside the battery record the charge-discharge condition of the battery: damage caused by over-charging or under-charging will not be covered by the warranty.

WARNING! Do not attempt to disassemble the battery. Do not touch battery contacts. Do not dismantle or puncture the casing. Keep the battery contacts away from metal objects to prevent short circuit. Risk of fire and electric shock. No user serviceable parts. Do not charge or use your battery if it is damaged or see trace of water.

WARNING! Do not ride when the ambient temperature is outside the machine operation temperature because low/high temperature will limit the maximum power/torque. Doing so could cause personal injuries or property damage due to slips or falls.

Brake Disc Adjustments

If a brake is too tight, us the M5 hex wrench and turn the screws of the brake disc tensioner pulley anti-clockwise, then slightly shorten the length of the tail brake cable. Re-tighten the tensioner pulley after adjusting.

If the brake is too loose, loosen the tension pulley, then pull the brake cable to slightly lengthen it. Re-tighten the tension pulley after adjusting.

Handlebar Adjustments

If the handlebars are shaky, use the M5 hex wrench to tighten the two screws near the folding mechanism.

Pumping the Wheels with Air

If the wheels are flat or rather soft, connect a pump to the wheel nipple to pump air. Remove the cap of the pin, then tighten the fitting. Start pumping air into the wheel.
