Frequently Asked Questions - LAM2852 Lamona

How do I install the Lamona LAM2852 range hood?
Installation should be carried out by a qualified professional. Ensure the hood is mounted at least 65 cm above an electric hob and 75 cm above a gas hob. Use the provided screws and wall plugs. Connect to the mains supply (220-240 V) and, if using ducted mode, connect the exhaust duct to an external vent.
How do I clean the grease filter?
The aluminum grease filter should be cleaned every month for optimal performance. Remove the filter by pulling the handle, wash it with warm soapy water or in a dishwasher at low temperature, and allow it to dry completely before reinserting. Do not use abrasive cleaners.
Can the hood be used in recirculation mode?
Yes, the LAM2852 can be used in recirculation mode. You need to install a charcoal filter (not included). This filter absorbs odors and should be replaced every 3-6 months depending on usage.
What should I do if the hood stops working?
First, check the mains power supply and the fuse. If the motor doesn't start, ensure the fan speed is selected. If the lights are not working, the LED bulbs may need replacement. For persistent issues, contact a service technician.
How do I replace the LED bulbs?
To replace the LED bulbs, disconnect the hood from the power supply. Remove the bulb cover (if any) by gently prying it off. Unscrew the old bulb and insert a new one of the same type (e.g., G4, 3W). Reattach the cover and restore power.
What is the recommended distance between the hob and the hood?
For electric hobs, the minimum distance is 65 cm. For gas hobs, it is 75 cm. Maintain these distances for safety and efficient extraction.
How often should I replace the charcoal filter?
The charcoal filter should be replaced every 3 to 6 months, depending on cooking frequency. A saturated filter reduces odor absorption and airflow. The hood may have an indicator to remind you.
Why is my hood noisy?
Noise can increase if the grease filter is clogged, the duct is blocked, or the motor bearings are worn. Clean the filter regularly and ensure the duct is free from obstructions. If noise persists, consult a professional.
Can I install the hood myself?
While the installation instructions are provided, it is recommended to have a qualified electrician or installer handle the electrical and mounting work, especially if ducting to an external vent is required.
What spare parts are available for this model?
Common spare parts include the aluminum grease filter, charcoal filter, and LED bulbs. These can be purchased from Lamona retailers or online. Use only genuine parts for safety.

Before using the cooker hood

  • Make sure that you have removed all packaging, wrappings, stickers and films from the cooker hood
  • It is recommended that you clean the cooker hood's surface before using for the first time.

Lamona LAM2852 - Before using the cooker hood - 1

Metal surfaces of the cooker hood condensation

When cooking with pans using a large water content, large quantities of vapour and steam can be produced very quickly. This steam may condense onto the cold metallic surfaces of the cooker hood and even the splash back area if tiled, glazed etc. (This is not a fault with either the hob or cooker hood if correctly installed.)

The amount of this condensation on any particular surface will depend on many factors including the ambient temperature in the kitchen, the related ambient temperature of the metal surfaces, the general ventilation within the kitchen, the type of food being cooked and duration. Using lids on pans can help reduce the amount of steam being released and subsequent condensation.

Danger of toxic fumes

Care should be taken when using the cooker hood in the same room or same area of the house at the same time as another heating appliance that depends on the air from the room.

If there is insufficient air, an under pressure will occur. The heating appliance may be starved of oxygen. This impairs combustion. Harmful gases could be drawn back into the room.

Sufficient ventilation must be maintained by air inlets which cannot be blocked, e.g. in windows, doors and outside wall vents.

If the cooker hood is being operated in recirculation mode, whereby the air is redirected into the room, the above restrictions do not apply.

Methods of extraction

The very best method of clearing the kitchen of unwanted odours is by connecting the appliance to an exhaust duct and venting to the outside atmosphere via the ceiling or an exterior wall. (Suitable ducting kits may be purchased from your local Howdens depot or online.) You do not need carbon filters when using the external ducting mode.

(No carbon filters required).

Ducting kits supplied separately.

Never use the hood in areas where devices with exhaust pipes connected to the outside are already operating unless perfect ventilation can be guaranteed.

There must be adequate ventilation in the room when the cooker hood is used at the same time as an appliance burning gas or other fuels.

- Connect the external ducting kit to the outlet of the cooker hood.

⚠️ Carbon filters are not required if the cooker hood is to be ducted out.

Tips for ducting optimal air extraction:

  • Keep duct work short and straight.
  • Do not reduce the size or diameter of the duct.
  • Keep ductwork taught to minimise pressure loss.

⚠ Ensure power is switched off to the cooker hood before installing/changing the carbon filter(s).

See Care and Maintenance Section for carbon filter installation.

Part identification

On opening the packaging, remove and identify each component part.

Carefully place each part on a clean, scratch free surface.

Do not scratch the finished surfaces of the component parts.

Lamona LAM2852 - Part identification - 1

This instruction must be strictly adhered to. Failure to comply could result in overheating and serious damage to your appliance. It is recommended that the installation is carried out by two people.

Before drilling or chiselling the wall or ceiling, check for pipes and power cables.

- If ducting externally, ensure the ducting tube is kept as short as possible and with a maximum number of 3 bends to permit the smoothest airflow. (Maximum length 3 metres). Ducted air must not be discharged into a flue which is used for exhausting fumes from appliances supplied with energy other than electricity. (eg. gas boilers, wood burners, open fires).

- Ensure the requirements of the local authorities are adhered to concerning the discharge of exhaust air.

- Ensure adequate room ventilation is provided when the cooker hood is used in the same room as appliances supplied with energy other than electricity.

- Never duct into a hot air flow such as a central heating duct.

(Illustrations show generic applications, other installations are similar.)

⚠ For extraction via recirculation, fit the cable grid to prevent the power cable dropping into the motor cavity.

4. Care and Maintenance

Before cleaning or attempting any type of maintenance, always make sure that the electricity supply is disconnected.

To avoid the possibility of fire, adhere strictly to all of the recommendations included in this booklet, paying particular attention to the grease filters to ensure grease deposits do not build up.

CAUTION: Accessible parts may become hot when used with cooking appliances.

The manufacturer declines all liability in cases where the instructions for the appropriate installation, maintenance and use of the cooker hood are not observed.

If the power cable is cut or damaged in any way, disconnect the cooker hood from the electricity supply and call the service number on the rear cover of this booklet or a suitably qualified repairer.

General cleaning

Wipe the external surfaces of the appliance regularly using warm water and a mild detergent. NEVER use abrasive cleaners, or strong household cleaners as they may affect the appearance of the product and/or artwork on the control panel, voiding the manufacturers warranty.

Stainless steel

The stainless steel must be cleaned regularly to ensure long life. Dry with a clean soft cloth. A specialised stainless steel cleaning fluid may be used.

Note: Ensure that wiping is done along the grain of the stainless steel to prevent any unsightly criss-cross patterns appearing.

Grease filters

The grease filters should be cleaned every three months or sooner depending on the type of cooking being performed.
