How do I turn on the Valk Synergy 5 scooter?

Press the power switch on the control panel to turn on. Press and hold for 2 seconds to turn off. The scooter must be moving above 5 km/h for the motor to activate.

What is the maximum speed and how do I change speed modes?

The max speed is 25 km/h. There are two modes: Low (15 km/h, green light) and High (20 km/h, red light). Double-press the power switch to toggle between them.

How long does it take to fully charge the battery?

The initial charge takes 3 hours, and subsequent charges take 3-4 hours. Always charge in a dry location between 10°C and 30°C.

What do the error codes E1, E2, etc. mean?

E1/E2: motor cable connection issue. E3: brake system failure. E4: throttle lever failure. E5: low voltage. E6: cable communication failure. E7: overvoltage. E8: controller failure. E9: motor shaft lock. Refer to the manual for detailed troubleshooting.

Can I ride the scooter in the rain?

No. Do not ride in rain or wet conditions. Water can damage the electrical components and increase the risk of electric shock.

How do I fold and transport the scooter?

Turn off the scooter, loosen the lock lever, lower the steering rack, and hook it to the rear mudguard ring. To unfold, release the hook, lift the rack, and lock the lever.

What is the maximum weight limit?

The maximum rider weight is 100 kg. The minimum rider height is 140 cm.

How should I maintain the battery?

Charge before first use and avoid fully discharging. Store at partial charge in a cool place. Do not expose to heat. Use only the supplied charger.

What type of tyres does the Synergy 5 have?

It has 8.5-inch puncture-proof tyres. You can pump them with air if they become soft using a standard pump.

How do I clean and store the scooter?

Use a soft, damp cloth to clean. Avoid solvents or high-pressure water. Store in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and extreme temperatures.

Safety information presented here is generic in nature – some advice may not be applicable to every product. The term "equipment" refers to the product, be it electrical mains powered, battery powered or combustion engine powered.

• Before Use - If you are not familiar with the safe operation/handling of the equipment or are in any way unsure of any aspect of suitability or correct use for your application, you should complete training conducted by a person or organization qualified in safe use and operation of this equipment, including fuel/electrical handling and safety.
• Do NOT operate the equipment in flammable or explosive environments, such as in the presence of flammable liquids, gases or dust. The equipment may create sparks or heat that may ignite flammable substances.

General Work Area Safety

• Work areas should be clean and well it.
- Do not operate the equipment if bystanders, animals etc are within operating range of the equipment or the general work area.
- If devices are provided for connecting dust extraction / collection facilities, ensure these are connected and used properly. Dust collection can reduce dust-related hazards.

General Personal Safety

• Wear appropriate protective equipment when operating, servicing, or when in the operating area of the equipment to help protect from eye and ear injury, poisoning, burns, cutting and crush injuries. Protective equipment such as safety goggles, respirators, non-slip safety footwear, hard hat, hearing protection etc should be used for appropriate equipment / conditions. Other people nearby should also wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Do not wear loose clothing or jewellery, which can be caught in moving parts. Keep hair and clothing away from the equipment.
• Stay alert and use common sense when operating the equipment. Do not overreach. Always maintain secure footing and balance.
• Do not use the equipment if tired or under the influence of drugs, alcohol or medication.
• This equipment is not intended for use by persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities.

General Fuel Safety

• Petrol/fuel/gasoline is extremely flammable – keep clear of naked flames or other ignition sources.
• Do not spill fuel. If you spill fuel, wipe it off the equipment immediately – if fuel gets on your clothing, change clothing.
• Do NOT smoke near fuel or when refuelling.
  • Always shut off the engine before refuelling.
• Do NOT refuel a hot engine.
• Open the fuel cap carefully to allow any pressure build-up in the tank to release slowly.
  • Always refuel in well ventilated areas.
• Always check for fuel leakage. If fuel leakage is found, do not start or run the engine until all leaks are fixed.

General Carbon-Monoxide Safety

• Using a combustion engine indoors CAN KILL IN MINUTES. Engine exhaust contains carbon-monoxide – a poison you cannot smell or see.
• Use combustion engines OUTSIDE only, and far away from windows, doors and vents.

General Equipment Use and Care

• The equipment is designed for domestic use only.
• Handle the equipment safely and carefully.
• Before use, inspect the equipment for misalignment or binding of moving parts, loose components, damage or any other condition that may affect its operation. If damaged, have the equipment repaired by an authorised service centre or technician before use.
• Prevent unintentional starting of the equipment - ensure equipment and power switches are in the OFF position before connecting or moving equipment. Do not carry equipment with hands or fingers touching any controls. Remove any tools or other items that are not a part of the equipment from it before starting or switching on.
• Do not force the equipment. Use the correct equipment for your application. Equipment will perform better and be safer when used within its design and usage parameters.
• Use the equipment and accessories etc. in accordance with these instructions, considering working conditions and the work to be performed. Using the equipment for operations different from those intended could result in hazardous situations.
• Always keep equipment components (engines, hoses, handles, controls, frames, housings, guards etc) and accessories (cutting tools, nozzles, bits etc) properly maintained. Keep the equipment clean and, where applicable, properly lubricated.
• Store the equipment out of reach of children or untrained persons. To avoid burns or fire hazards, let the equipment cool completely before transporting or storing. Never place or store the equipment near flammable materials, combustible gases or liquids etc.
• The equipment is not weather-proof, and should not be stored in direct sunlight, at high ambient temperatures or locations that are damp or humid.

General Electrical Safety

• Inspect electrical equipment, extension cords, power bars, and electrical fittings for damage or wear before each use. Repair or replace damaged equipment immediately.
• Ensure all power sources conform to equipment voltage requirements and are disconnected before connecting or disconnecting equipment.
• When wiring electrically powered equipment, follow all electrical and safety codes.
• Wherever possible, use a residual current device (RCD).
• High voltage / high current power lines may be present. Use extreme caution to avoid contact or interference with power lines. Electrical shock can be fatal.

• Do NOT bypass the ON/OFF switch and operate equipment by connecting and disconnecting the electrical cord.

• Replacement parts must be original equipment manufacturer (OEM) to ensure equipment safety is maintained.
• Do NOT attempt any maintenance or repair work not described in this manual.
• After use, the equipment and components may still be hot – allow the equipment to cool and disconnect spark plugs and/or electrical power sources and/or batteries from it before adjusting, changing accessories or performing repair or maintenance.
• Do NOT adjust while the equipment is running.
• Perform service related activities in suitable conditions, such as a workshop.
• Replace worn, damaged or missing warning/safety labels immediately.

Electric Scooter Safety

• When you are riding the electric scooter in a public place, you must comply with all recommendations for safety. Be aware that there is a possibility of collisions due to violation of pedestrians or vehicles traffic rules. There is also a risk of injury due to improper operation of the electric scooter. As with other types of vehicles, the higher the speed, the greater the braking distance. On smooth road, suddenly braking may cause skidding of scooter, loss of balance and even falling off the electric scooter. While the electric scooter is moving, the user needs to be vigilant and adhere to an appropriate speed. Keep a safe distance from pedestrians and vehicles. When riding on unfamiliar terrain, be vigilant and use an appropriate speed.
• Respect the rights of pedestrians. Reduce speed when passing by them. If you are moving in the same direction with pedestrians, move on the opposite side.
• Adhere and comply with local road rules and regulations while driving the electric scooter. Violation of rules and regulations may lead to financial expenses, personal injury, traffic accidents, legal disputes, conflicts and other unpleasant situations.
• Do not lend the electric scooter to persons who do not know how to drive or operate it. Train them first in using the electric scooter and how to wear proper safety gear.
• Inspect the electric scooter carefully before each use. If you find shattered/broken parts, the battery life has decreased, leaky tyres or signs of excessive wear, uncharacteristic sounds when turning or other abnormal symptoms, please discontinue use of the electric scooter immediately and have it repaired by a skilled mechanic
• Do not ride the electric scooter in the rain or in wet environments.
• Decelerate when you encounter potholes and road obstructions. Slightly knee to better adapt to rough/bumpy road conditions. Avoid all obstacles when riding.
• Be careful when riding around door frames, elevators and other obstacles.
• Never accelerate when riding downhill.
• Do not press the accelerator when walking with the electric scooter.
• Do not hang heavy objects such as backpacks on the handlebar.
• Never ride the electric scooter while the stand is still on the ground.
• Never ride the electric scooter on vehicle lanes.
• Never turn the electric scooter's handles at high speed.
• Never travel through water that is more than 2cm deep.
• Only one person can ride the electric scooter. Do not allow other persons or children from riding with you on the electric scooter.
• Do not step on the clamp.
• Do not touch the disc brakes.
• ALWAYS hold the handlebars with both hands while riding on the electric scooter.
• Never ride the electric scooter on stairs or use it to jump through obstacles.

Assembly

1. Fix the stem in the upright position and activate the locking lever.

1. Using the supplied hex key, secure the handlebars to the stem.

1. Test the power switch after assembly (Do not activate the motor until the battery is at full charge, this will increase the longevity of the battery).

Operation

ATTENTION: Monitor battery usage when in use, the scooter may suddenly slow down as the battery charge reduces.

Controls and Features

1. Speed display: Shows normal running speed while riding the scooter.
2. Mode display: Green light indicates power is turned ON. Currently, it is in low speed mode with max. speed at 15km/h. Press twice to switch to high speed mode (red light, max. speed at 20km/h).
3. Battery indicator lights: The control panel has 4 LEDs, indicating a level of charge. While the battery is being consumed, the status indicators will light up and flash, depending on the battery's charge level. If all 4 LEDs are lit, the battery's charge level is between 100 – 86%. If 3 LEDs are lit, and one is blinking, the charge level is now between 85 – 71%. If all 4 charge level lights begin to flash and then does not light-up, the battery's charge level is empty.
4. Power switch: Press the power switch to turn the electric scooter ON. Press and hold the power switch for 2 seconds to turn the electric scooter OFF. After turning the electric scooter ON, press the power switch again to turn the flashlight ON/OFF.
5. Speed control: You can cycle between 2 different speed modes by double-pressing the power switch.

Charging the Scooter

NOTE: The scooter will NOT power ON if the charger is still connected.

1. Open the charger cover.
2. Connect the charger to the charging port.
3. After charging, close the charger cover.

Using the Scooter

IMPORTANT! Always wear protective gears such as helmets, knee and elbow pads whenever you're using the electric scooter.

1. Turn the scooter ON and check the battery's charge level.

2. Stand on the scooter platform with one leg, while the other leg is on the ground.

1. Put both legs on the scooter platform while it is moving, then press the Accelerate Button (only accelerate when the scooter speed is above 5km/h).
2. Let go of the Accelerate Button if you want to slow down. Press the left disc brake tightly if you want to stop suddenly.
3. Lean your body slightly to the left to turn left and slightly to the right to turn right. Only turn the handlebar slowly.

Folding the Scooter

1. Turn the electric scooter OFF.
2. Hold the front pole with one hand while the other hand loosens the lock lever. Then, lower the steering rack.
3. Put the steering rack in a horizontal position and secure it by inserting a hook through the special ring, which is located on the rear wheel mudguard.
4. To re-assemble the electric scooter, disconnect the steering rack lock from the mudguard hook.
5. Lift the steering rack into a vertical position and lock the lever in place.

Once the electric scooter is folded, you can now carry it with one or two hands.

Error Codes

E1 - Motor Error

1. Check the connection between the motor cable and the controller, reconnect the cables to see if E1 disappears.
2. If E1 is still showing after checking all cable connections, replace the motor.

E2 - Motor Error

1. Check the connection between the motor cable and the controller, reconnect the cables to see if "E2" disappears.
2. If "E2" is still showing after checking all cable connections, replace the motor.

E3 - Brake system failure

- Check brake lever and brake disc.

E4 - Throttle lever failure

1. Check the connection between the throttle cable and the controller, reconnect the cables to see if E4 disappears.
2. If E2 is still showing after checking all cable connections, replace the throttle lever.

E5 - Low-voltage protection

- Check battery and controller.

Lithium Battery Care and Maintenance

Top 3 Battery Care Requirements

1. Charge battery before first use. The battery may arrive with some charge, regardless of this the battery must be charged for 3 hours on the initial charge and 3 hours for each subsequent charge.
2. Charge battery immediately when it is depleted. Do not store a depleted battery. This will permanently impact the life of the battery. If the battery is going to be stored for a period of time, fully charge the battery before storing.

To ensure the battery maintains optimum performance, follow the guidelines outlined below.

• For best results, charge batteries in temperatures between 10^ and 30^
• When battery is charged, disconnect the charger from the power supply and remove the battery from the charger.
• If a battery is stored or otherwise unused for an extended period, and the battery has no charge remaining when you check it, consider it to be damaged. Do not attempt to recharge it or to use it. Replace it with a new battery.
  • Use only with the battery charger specified by the manufacturer.
• Ensure that the battery charger electrical cord is not subjected to damage or stress. Do not operate the battery charger if it has a damaged electrical cord or plug.
• Do not use the charger in wet areas or expose it to rain or water.
• The typical estimated life of a Lithium-Ion battery is about two to three years or 300 to 500 charge cycles, whichever occurs first. One charge cycle is a period of use from fully charged, to fully discharged, and fully recharged again
• Explosion hazard – protect the battery against heat; for example, direct sunlight and fire. Do not store batteries in vehicles or locations subject to heat.
• Batteries can explode in the presence of an ignition source, such as a pilot light. To reduce the risk of serious personal injury, never use any cordless product in the presence of open flame. Exploding batteries can propel debris and chemicals.
• Do not open the battery – danger of short-circuiting and/or explosion.
• Do not attempt to destroy or disassemble the battery pack or remove any of its components.
• Do not touch the battery terminals with metal objects and/or body parts as short-circuit and/or personal injury may result.
• Explosion hazard – do not open and/or short-circuit the battery.
• Poison hazard – battery leakage (liquid ejection). Under extreme conditions, liquid may be ejected from the battery – avoid contact. If contact accidentally occurs, immediately seek medical attention, and flush with water. If liquid contacts eyes, immediately seek medical attention, flush with clean water for at least 10 minutes. Liquid ejected from the battery may cause irritation or burns.
• Dispose of non-serviceable batteries in an environmentally responsible manner and according to local regulations.

Failure to adhere to the requirements above may result in the battery becoming inoperative or battery life being reduced. In extreme cases or abuse, battery overheating or fire may result.

Maintenance

Do not use alcohol, petrol, kerosene, corrosive solutions and volatile chemical solvents to clean the electric scooter. Otherwise, it will cause serious damage to the scooter's body and can disrupt the internal circuitry. Do not wash the electric scooter with a strong water pressure. Ensure that the scooter has been turned OFF first before performing any maintenance on it. After charging the scooter, insert the plug back to the charging connector, otherwise you may get an electric shock.

Cleaning and Storing the Scooter

If you find any dirt or stains on the electric scooter, use a soft, damp cloth to wipe down the scooter. You can also use toothpaste and a toothbrush to clean the electric scooter from stains and wipe it clean with a damp cloth. If you find scratched plastic parts, use sandpaper or other grinding materials to polish them up.

If you are not using the electric scooter, store it in a cool, dry location; do not leave it on the street for an extended period. Leaving the electric scooter under the sun or in extremely high or low temperatures can cause rapid aging of the outer body and wheels of the electric scooter and reduce its battery life.

Battery Maintenance

• Never modify the electrical system. Alterations could cause a fire resulting in serious injury and could also damage the electrical system.
• Charge with the supplied or recommended charger only. Use of the wrong charger could cause a fire or explosion resulting in serious injury.
• Battery charging must be performed by adults only. Never allow children to charge the battery.
• Ensure the voltage and frequency of the charger is compatible with mains electrical supply.
  • Use the battery charger in dry locations only.
  • The battery must be charged before first use.

NOTE: A fully-charged battery will run out of stored power after 120 – 180 days in standby mode. Stored power will run out after 20 – 50 days in standby mode if the battery is not fully charged. If you don't charge the battery in time, it may cause damage to the battery due to excessive discharge; this damage is irreversible. Any battery damage caused by failure to charge in a timely manner will result in a failure to charge in the future and can become irreparable. This will also void the warranty coverage.

Non-professionals should not be allowed to open the battery, otherwise it can potentially cause grave accidents via electric shocks or short circuiting.

Adjusting the Brake Disc

If a brake is too tight, us the M5 hex wrench and turn the screws of the brake disc tensioner pulley anticlockwise, then slightly shorten the length of the tail brake cable. Re-tighten the tensioner pulley after adjusting.

If the brake is too loose, loosen the tension pulley, then pull the brake cable to slightly lengthen it. Re-tighten the tension pulley after adjusting.

Adjusting the Handlebars

If the handlebars are shaky, use the M5 hex wrench to tighten the two screws near the folding mechanism.

Pumping the Wheels with Air

If the wheels are flat or rather soft, connect a pump to the wheel nipple to pump air. Remove the cap of the pin, then tighten the fitting. Start pumping air into the wheel.
