After Use

- Do not use any adapter plugs with this appliance. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock.
◆ To avoid the risk of electric shock, do not immerse the cord, plug or appliance in water or other liquid.

Extension Cables

◆ Up to 30m (100 ft) can be used without loss of power.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer or an authorised BLACK+DECKER Service Centre in order to avoid a hazard.

⚠ WARNING: Before assembling, switch the appliance off and remove the plug from the socket.

Mains Plug Replacement

⚠ WARNING: The above section on mains plug replacement is for authorized service centre persons.

If a new mains plug needs to be fitted:

◆ Safely dispose of the old plug.
◆ Connect the brown lead to the live terminal in the new plug.
◆ Connect the blue lead to the neutral terminal.
◆ If the product is class I (earthed), connect the green/yellow lead to the earth terminal.

Note! If your product is class II double insulated (only 2 wires in the cord set), no connection is to be made to the earth terminal.

Follow the fitting instructions supplied with good quality plugs. Any replacement fuse must be of the same rating as the original fuse supplied with the product.

Installing the Battery

⚠ WARNING: Battery acid leakage can cause personal injury and cause damage to the product and surrounding property. If battery leakage occurs, thoroughly wash any affected skin, making sure to keep battery acid away from eyes, ears, nose and mouth. Immediately wash any clothing or other surface that comes in contact with leaked battery acid. If a chemical burn occurs or if irritation persists, seek medical attention. Dispose according to Local, State or Federal regulations.

⚠ WARNING: NEVER mix old and new batteries or different brands of batteries. Replace all batteries at the same time.

⚠ WARNING: NEVER mix alkaline, standard (carbon-zinc), rechargeable (nickel-cadmium) batteries with this product.
⚠ WARNING: NEVER dispose of batteries in fire, as they may leak and explode.
⚠ WARNING: ALWAYS remove exhausted batteries from product.

◆ Batteries are to be inserted following the polarity markings on the product.
◆ Remove batteries before extended storage.

To Begin Using Your Fan

◆ To begin using this unit, start by installing the batteries in the remote control. DO NOT use rechargeable batteries.
◆ To install the batteries, first detach the battery cover from the remote. To do this, place your finger on the grooved area at the centre of the battery cover and push down and away from the body of the remote.
◆ Insert 2 x AAA batteries into the battery compartment, taking care to ensure the polarities are correct.
Once the batteries have been correctly inserted, replace the battery cover by aligning each of the locking tabs with the corresponding notch on the remote control body and pushing it upwards until it clicks into place.
◆ The remote control is now ready for normal use.

How to Operate

◆ Place the unit on a firm and level surface.
◆ Plug the power cord into an active mains outlet. Flick the power switch on the main body of the unit to ON. The LED display illuminates, there will be an audible signal and then the unit enters Stand-by mode.
◆ Press the Power key on the remote or touch screen. There will be an audible signal and the fan will start at speed setting 3.
◆ To switch the fan to standby press the Power key on the remote. There will be an audible signal and the fan will stop once the unit has cooled down.
◆ To switch the unit off completely, flick the switch on the main body of the unit to OFF.

◆ Direct the remote control at the remote control signal receiver on the display in order to maximise the remote control signal (effective distance 5m).

Note:

This appliance may respond to the remote control of other devices.

If you use the remote control of this appliance, other devices may respond.

This is due to the overlapping frequencies of the remote control. There is no quality problem in the product itself. To avoid, keep the remote control away from other electrical devices during operation.

Max Mode

Once the fan is switched ON, press the Max Mode key to select the maximum power, strongest airflow.
The control panel will display 'HH'. Press the key again to exit the setting. Alternatively the airflow can be adjusted by pressing the air flow keys.

Sleep Mode

Once the fan is switched ON, press the Sleep Mode key to select a soft, smooth airflow. The control panel will display 'LL'. Press the key again to exit the setting. Alternatively the airflow can be adjusted by pressing the air flow keys. Oscillation

Once the fan is switched ON, press the Oscillation key on the remote to activate the oscillation of the unit.
There will be a single audible signal and the fan will oscillate at 80^+/-5^ . Press the key again to stop the fan oscillating.
There will be a single audible signal. Alternatively press and hold the Power key on the control panel, until an audible signal is heard, to activate and deactivate this function.

UV Sterilisation

Once the fan is switched ON, press the UV key to activate. The control panel will display 'U'. Press again to turn off this function.

Cool Mode

When the fan is in Warm mode, press the Cool Mode key to activate. There will be a single audible signal. The display will show the air flow speed.

Note: The default start setting is Cool Mode.

Warm Mode

Once the fan is switched ON, press the Warm Mode key to activate. There will be a single audible signal. The display will show the ambient temperature. It will take a few seconds for the heater to activate.

Note: When in Warm Mode if the ambient temperature is below 0^ C the display will show 01 as it does not display negative values.

Once the unit has run for 9 hours in Warm Mode it will automatically turn off; To restart press the Power key.

The Max Mode and Sleep Mode are not available whilst in Warm Mode.

Increasing/ Decreasing the Temperature

- Once the fan is switched ON and in Warm Mode, press the right hand ‘+/-’ temperature keys on the remote to set the required temperature between 1-30°C. There will be a single audible signal with each key press. The display will show the temperature set. The set temperature should be higher than the ambient temperature in order for the heating function to turn on. - When the ambient temperature reaches the set temperature the heating function will stop and turn to a cool breeze. When the ambient temperature becomes lower than the temperature set the heating function will automatically re-activate.

Note: This function is not available when the unit is in Cool Mode.

The default setting temperature is 25^ C.

Increasing/ Decreasing the Air Flow

Once the fan is switched ON: On the remote, press the left hand '+' air flow key to increase the air flow and the left hand '-' air flow key to decrease the air flow.
◆ On the control panel press the Power key to cycle through the air flow setting required.

◆ Note: There are 9 speed settings in Cool Mode and 4 speed settings in Warm Mode.

Timer

This fan can be pre-set for automatic operation for a period of 1 to 8 hours. When this function is selected, the unit will automatically turn itself OFF to Stand-by mode at the end of the set time period.
Once the fan is switched ON, repeatedly press the Timer key to select 1-8 hours until the unit will automatically switch OFF. The timer changes in increments of 12 an hour. Press the Timer key during operation to check the time remaining.

Note: Once the Timer is set all other functions can be used normally.

Whenever a timer is set, the unit can also be switched OFF manually at any time. If the unit is switched OFF the timing setting will be cancelled.

Safety System

  • This appliance includes an overheat protection sensor and an automatic fail-safe that cuts power to the unit if it's accidentally tipped over or overheats.
    ◆ If this sensor is triggered, unplug the unit and allow to cool.
    ◆ Check and remove any obstructions before restarting the appliance and be sure to place on a hard, level surface.

Cleaning and maintenance

⚠ WARNING: Before cleaning and maintenance, switch the appliance off and remove the plug from the socket, to prevent electric shock.

◆ Do not immerse any part of the appliance, power cord or plug in liquids.
Use a soft damp cloth to wipe the surface. Then dry with a soft cloth. Avoid using detergent, spray or chemicals as these may cause damage to the appliance.
◆ Clean the inlet and outlet vents with a soft brush or vacuum cleaner.
♦ Do not use water to clean these parts of the fan.
♦ Do not disassemble the fan for cleaning.
Do not immerse the fan in water and never allow water to enter the motor housing or any other part of the appliance.

Filter Installation and Replacement

Note! Ensure the unit is unplugged before changing the filter.

This unit is equipped with a purifying air filter.

◆ Rotate the top cover anti-clockwise to unlock.
◆ Lift out the filter.
◆ Pull the top cover to separate from the filter.
◆ Push the new filter into the top cover.
◆ Put the assembled filter back into the unit and rotate the top cover clockwise to lock into position.
