To disassemble the door of your SMEG SFP486X built-in oven in order to replace the intermediate glass, follow these precise steps:

1. Safety first

Make sure the oven is completely unplugged from the power supply to avoid any risk of electric shock.

2. Open the oven door

Open the oven door wide to access the hinges.

3. Identify and release the hinges

• Locate the clips or screws that hold the door on the hinges.
• Depending on the model, you will need to either unclip these elements using a flat screwdriver or unscrew the screws with a Phillips screwdriver.

4. Remove the door

Once the clips or screws are removed, slightly close the door (about halfway open) and gently lift it to detach it from the hinges. Handle with care to avoid damaging the door or the oven.

5. Access the intermediate glass

With the door removed, you can access the intermediate glass. Depending on the design, it may be necessary to remove additional screws or clips to separate the glass panels.

6. Replace the glass

Carefully remove the damaged glass and replace it with the new glass compatible with the SFP486X model.

7. Reassemble the door

Reassemble the door by following the steps in reverse order:

• Secure the glass panels if necessary.
• Reposition the door on the hinges.
• Reclip or re-screw the fastening elements.

8. Final check

Plug the oven back in and test the opening and closing of the door as well as the proper functioning of the oven to ensure everything is in order.

To start the pyrolysis program on your SMEG SFP486X built-in oven, begin with the preliminary steps: clean the inner glass with an appropriate product if it is heavily soiled, then remove all accessories (grids, drip trays) and support rails. Also, remove the upper protection if present. Close the oven door tightly.

Then press the function knob and turn it to select either Eco Pyrolysis (fixed duration of 2 hours) or Pyrolysis (duration to be set). The display will then indicate the proposed duration. If you have chosen the standard Pyrolysis function, turn the programming knob to select the desired duration between 2 and 3 hours, depending on the degree of soiling: 2 hours for a slightly dirty oven, 2h30 for medium soiling, 3 hours for heavy soiling.

Once the duration is confirmed by pressing the programming knob, press the function knob to start the pyrolysis cycle. About two minutes after the start, you will see the door lock indicator light up, which means that the door is automatically locked for safety reasons.

During the cycle, the turbines operate at high speed to expel heat: this intense noise is normal. If unpleasant odors are released (especially during the first use), this is also normal and will disappear after the cycle. Do not attempt to open the door during pyrolysis.

At the end of the cycle, the display will show STOP flashing and an audible signal will sound. The door remains locked until the temperature has dropped sufficiently to ensure your safety. Wait for the lock indicator to turn off, indicating that the oven has cooled down. You can then open the door and wipe away the dirt residues with a damp microfiber cloth.

If the result of the pyrolysis is not satisfactory at the minimum duration of 2 hours, it is recommended to select a longer time (2h30 or 3 hours) for the following cleaning cycles. After pyrolysis, you can dry the cooking chamber with a ventilated function at 160 °C for about 10 minutes for better hygiene.
