Frequently Asked Questions - WK1707 VOX

How do I descale the VOX WK1707 kettle?
Fill the kettle halfway with a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water, or use a commercial descaling solution. Boil the mixture, let it sit for 15 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Repeat if necessary. Always rinse several times with fresh water before use.
Can I operate the kettle without enough water?
No, never operate the kettle empty or with insufficient water. The boil-dry protection will cut off power, but repeated dry boiling can damage the heating element.
Why does the kettle turn off before the water boils?
This may happen if the lid is not closed properly, the kettle has limescale buildup, or if the power base or plug is faulty. Try descaling first. Ensure the lid clicks shut and the base is clean.
How do I clean the filter?
The removable filter can be taken out and rinsed under running water. For stubborn limescale, soak it in vinegar or a descaling solution, then rinse. Replace the filter before using the kettle.
Is the VOX WK1707 suitable for induction hobs?
No, this is an electric kettle designed to operate on its own 360° rotational base plugged into an electrical outlet. Do not place it on an induction hob or any heat source.
What does the blue light mean?
The blue light indicates that the kettle is powered on and heating. It will turn off automatically when the water reaches boiling point or when you lift the kettle off the base.
How do I reset the kettle after boil-dry protection?
Unplug the kettle from the power base and let it cool down for about 10-15 minutes. The internal safety switch will automatically reset. You can then refill with water and use it normally.
Can I boil milk or other liquids in the kettle?
No, this kettle is designed for water only. Boiling milk or other liquids can cause burning, damage the kettle, and void the warranty. Clean the kettle thoroughly after each use.
Why is the kettle making noise during operation?
Some noise, especially a low humming or sizzling, is normal during heating. Loud rattling or crackling may indicate limescale buildup. Descale the kettle to reduce noise and improve efficiency.
How do I remove limescale from the kettle?
Use a mixture of water and lemon juice or white vinegar, or a dedicated descaler. Boil the solution, let it sit for 30 minutes, then rinse thoroughly. Repeat monthly for best performance.
