Frequently Asked Questions - AF5431B Acros

How do I convert the range from LP gas to Natural gas?
To convert to Natural gas, you need a conversion kit (e.g., part W10613659 for model LAF5431). This must be installed by a qualified technician from the Whirlpool Service Center. The conversion involves changing the burner nozzles and adjusting the air intake.
What should I do if I smell gas?
If you smell gas, immediately open windows, do not touch electrical switches, turn off all flames by closing the gas supply valve, and contact your gas supplier. Do not use the range until the leak is fixed.
Why won't the cooktop burners light?
First, ensure the range is plugged in and the gas supply is on. If the electronic ignition doesn't click, check that the burner caps are correctly positioned and the gas line openings are clean. You can also manually light the burner with a match. If the problem persists, check for clogged burner orifices.
How do I adjust the oven burner flame?
For a yellow or noisy flame, adjust the primary air intake. Remove the oven bottom shelf, locate the air regulator screw behind the burner, and turn it to open (for yellow flame) or close (for noisy flame) the air window. Retighten the screw after adjustment.
What is the recommended gas hose length and type?
Use a flexible PVC hose (3/8" reinforced polyester) rated for temperatures above 120°C. The hose must be approved by local regulations and not exceed 1.25 meters. Replace it before the expiration date or at least every 5 years.
How do I clean the cooktop burners?
After the cooktop has cooled, remove the grates and burner caps. Wash them with soapy water and a sponge, rinse thoroughly, and dry completely before reassembling. Do not use harsh chemicals or steel wool.
Can I use the oven light during cooking?
Yes, the oven light can be turned on manually using the light button next to the oven knob. It helps you check food without opening the door. The bulb is a standard 40W appliance bulb.
Why is the oven temperature too high or too low?
The oven temperature may need calibration. This can be adjusted by modifying the thermostat setting. Refer to the 'Adjust oven burner flame' section or contact an authorized service technician for calibration.
What is the warranty coverage for this range?
The range comes with a 1-year limited warranty covering parts and labor for defects. Spare parts are available for up to 5 years in certain countries. The warranty is void if non-authorized personnel repair the appliance.
Is it safe to store flammable materials near the range?
No, never store gasoline or other flammable liquids near the range. Keep the area around the range free from combustible materials to reduce the risk of fire.

  4. Hold the burner and pull it off to release the back part from the nozzle, try not to pull the pigtail on the back if your range is equipped with electronic ignition.

  5. To adjust the air, loose the air regulator screw located behind the burner and turn to open or close the air window (see image).

  6. If the flame is yellow you need to open the window. When the flame is noisy or levitates our of the burner you need to slightly close the window.

  7. When the adjustment has been done, tighten the air regulator screw and set the burner to its original position, align with the nozzle on the back and make sure the pigtail is set to the back of the range.

  8. Place the screw with the washer holding the frontal range frame and the burner. Tighten the screw.

  9. Connect the power cable or turn on the power supply.

  10. Turn on the burner again following the steps on section "Testing your Range", "Oven Burner". If the flame is steady and blue, the range is ready to use. Otherwise wait until the range is cold and return to step 3.
