Frequently Asked Questions - InstaBrew Chefman

How do I clean the Chefman InstaBrew coffee maker?
Regular cleaning is essential. After each use, rinse the carafe and filter basket. For deep cleaning, run a cycle with a mixture of equal parts white vinegar and water, then run two cycles with fresh water. Refer to the manual for detailed descaling instructions.
What type of filter does the InstaBrew use?
It uses a #4 cone-shaped paper filter. Alternatively, you can use a permanent basket filter if you prefer. Always ensure the filter is properly seated to avoid grounds in your coffee.
How many cups does the InstaBrew make?
The water reservoir holds up to 12 cups (60 oz). The actual number of cups depends on your brew size preference. The markings on the carafe indicate cup sizes.
Does the coffee maker have an auto shut-off feature?
Yes, the Chefman InstaBrew automatically shuts off after 2 hours of inactivity. The keep-warm function will also turn off at that time for safety.
Can I brew a smaller amount of coffee?
Yes, you can brew a minimum of 4 cups. For best results, ensure the water level is at least at the 4-cup mark and adjust the amount of coffee grounds accordingly.
What is the 'Pause & Serve' function?
This feature allows you to pour a cup of coffee before the brewing cycle ends. Simply remove the carafe for up to 30 seconds; the drips will stop automatically. Replace the carafe to resume brewing.
How do I adjust the brew strength?
The InstaBrew does not have a strength selector. To adjust strength, simply change the coffee-to-water ratio. Use more grounds for stronger coffee or less for milder flavor.
Why is my coffee maker leaking?
Leaks can occur if the carafe is not properly placed, the filter basket is overfilled, or the water reservoir lid is not closed tight. Check these areas first. If the problem persists, inspect the carafe for cracks.
Can I use the coffee maker with a timer?
No, the Chefman InstaBrew does not include a programmable timer. It is a simple on/off machine. You can use an external outlet timer if needed.
What should I do if the coffee tastes bitter or weak?
Bitter coffee may be caused by over-extraction (too many grounds) or a dirty machine. Weak coffee may be due to too few grounds or water that is not hot enough. Experiment with the grind size and coffee amount, and ensure regular descaling.
